This modern apartment has a suspended glass cabin which is goals for cat lovers and their pets!

Cats and humans have different needs and both love personal space – so can these two spaces coexist without compromise? InDot Design created a whole modern apartment that revolves around a glass ‘cat cabin’ which is seamlessly integrated into modern interior aesthetics. No more eye-sore cat trees that don’t fit in with your style! The team broke the previous form of partition walls and placed glass boxes in the space to form a spatial field. You can watch your cats while they watch you and both can still have defined boundaries. The cat cabin is like a floating glass box with a circular iron tube as the main support which also serves as a playful element for your pets.

The CMF of glass, wood, and black accents has been maintained with the cat cabin as well as the house so it all looks like one homogenous, open space. The aesthetics are warm, linear, and clean. “On the plane configuration, the living room and study are open, the yellow block at the rear is the cat house, and the red wall is the workspace of the hostess. Use a couch combined with the cat house; we put a glass suspended space in the space so that the layers overlap. The space also has a different sense of penetration,” explains the team.

The suspended cat cabin is measured in size and a viewing platform is deliberately opened in the window to face the views while the ceiling and side of the box are designed with solid wood grilles which are both light and breathable. It extends from the entrance porch cabinet to the living room cabinet. The open behind the sofa is the study room. The seam on the side of the desk is a space where you can move around. Open the wall of the study room and the guest room to form a back-shaped moving line. It is a field of light and shadow, and it has also become a fuzzy zone of the game of life. This apartment is interior design goal for cat parents, but it is the ultimate cool home for cats

This furniture design is a functional piece for you and a playful landscape for your cat!

Do your pets understand personal boundaries or are they normal? Sharing space has become more challenging post-pandemic as our work and non-work lives have merged into one home but we have also started spending a lot more time with our pets who may be thinking “why is this human taking over my favorite chair?” So Space International created catHAUS that encourages harmony between you and your cat when you are in the same space!

The angular furniture piece was envisioned to be a domestic retreat for an undomesticated species. It incorporates your needs and your pet’s needs too – two different functions but in the same piece of furniture. For you, catHAUS is a seating option and for your cat, it is a landscape of different textures. Playing off of the iconographic conventions of the familiar gable roof, catHAUS operates at the scale of both shelter and furniture.

Its exterior is abstract and neutral in its materiality while the plush interior is finished in synthetic turf and vertical supports wrapped in sisal rope. The design is highly engaging for your feline friend and keeps them from disturbing you while you read, work or watch Netflix!

This modular cat climber was designed to fit in with your existing furniture set!

Furniture design has flourished during this pandemic as we all need something multifunctional, flexible, and space-saving – and it applies to pet furniture too. The latest piece to catch our eye has been the Kyali cat climber by MADE for its almost human furniture-like design because usually, a cat climber would stick out but this one just blends in like a cozy stool!

The climber has a warm inviting vibe because of the woody tones and the soft fabric cushioning that will instantly draw your cats in for a nap. It is a blend of a bed and a dynamic game for your pets. Featuring three shelves or levels, Kyali’s goal was to provide plenty of fun for your feline friends without taking up too much room. It has a modular structure that lets you adjust the shape to create more space for cats to explore or to make it more compact to store.

It keeps the space clutter-free while giving the cats enough surfaces to scratch and hole-some entertainment. The walnut and navy aesthetics give it an evergreen look that works for any interior style. Your cats would be happy and comfy with Kyali while letting you work from home in peace!

This modular cat furniture is designed to be a lounge for you and your pet!

Since everyone is staying home, a lot of our attention has been captured by the furniture around us which has got thinking about how it can be more multifunctional, space-saving, and aesthetic. Furniture design is moving towards a more flexible direction and CatYou in a Circle is a wonderful display of modular pieces that work for both humans and pets.

The set includes a floor sofa and a coffee table that aims to create a relaxing space for cats and their owners to have some downtime. Urban homes are only getting smaller and cat owners are faced with challenges to keep their pets entertained without taking up too much space. During quarantine, it has become more of a lesson as we share our space with them 24/7. The designer administered a questionnaire and after 233 responses it was found one-third of the cat owners living under 50 square meters. The four main problems that the design needed to solve based on their feedback were – not enough hiding space, cat furniture occupies too much living space, renovation is often not an option, and people want to have enough room to bond with their cats during playtime. The goal was to incorporate the behavior of people and cats in one design that worked to create a functional and playful space for both.

People in small living spaces use low furniture (such as rugs, floor chairs) to build intimate relaxing areas while cats prefer covert spaces, but due to the limited space, there are not many places to hide or play. CatYou in a Circle didn’t want to separate the pets from their owners so it is designed to cleverly bring them together while also maintaining boundaries. The hollow armrests and backrest offer cats a playground and hiding territory while the coffee table provides a place to sleep. The woven bamboo texture makes it possible for owners to see their cats even when they are hiding and play with through its holes. The size of holes is different in different parts of the furniture to adapt to the needs of the pet as well as humans. The backrest holes are smaller to make the cats feel more secure. But holes above are bigger so that when people lean on the sofa, they can see through the backrest and find their cats underneath. The armrest holes are bigger to offer more opportunities to interact. But holes above it are smaller to make resting your arms more comfortable. There are also two large holes on each side of armrests that allow the curious cats to pop their heads or hands out.

To make it more comfortable and cozy, fabric cushions are placed at the bottom of the armrests and the coffee table. They are skin-friendly and also absorb smell so it works especially well for smaller homes. The cushions are laundry-friendly and the armrests can be stretched out or pushed back in depending on the space and needs. The bamboo adds a touch of warmth and keeps it airy and visually light. Most cat furniture on the market is focused on either just the pet or just the interior aesthetic for the owners, it is rare to find pet furniture that works for the behavioral and spatial needs of both while still upholding the standards of style. CatYou in a Circle emphasizes the concept of “passive companion”, which leaves an autonomous space for cats. Flexible furniture should be extended to pets as well, after all, our house belongs more to them than it does to us!

This modular cat home is customized for your pet’s lifetime happiness

Browsing through Pinterest for your dream homes is so 2019, in 2020 we are browsing through pet homes and I am not ‘kitten’ when I say that cats certainly have cooler options than we ever will. They don’t pay rent and that is always going to be the coolest part but the pet homes are truly taking an artistic turn and I don’t mind having this modern cat home that is specifically customized for your feline friend’s happiness to last a lifetime! The design has been mindful of 3 elements – the space, the cat, and the person. Space is shared between the cat and the owner and this pet product works in the favor of that symbiotic relationship – all the cat’s needs are met and the owner’s interior space/style remains undisturbed.

The designer has imagined everything your pet needs to live their best life possible and included it in the details of this modular cat house. Every traditional shape and element has been reimagined to add a fresh perspective. The scratching board, for example, has been created to evoke an emotional response from the cat and make it a pleasant experience not bound by the stereotypical forms but still meeting the behavioral need to dig/scratch. Play around with the shape and structure, create something that works for you and your pet and if your pet gets bored easily, just switch up the arrangement and voila, a whole new apartment! The scratch pads can be set up in various different ways to increase the playing area while still being a practical element. “It is a balance between new and old. I have used our most common materials and structures in life to design new design styles, extend the life cycle of products, reduce product costs from another angle, and strengthen the relationship between brands and users by expanding product forms and functions,” says the designer.

It uses a familiar frame structure and it is flexible to the owner’s space and the cat’s demands – it also works for multiple cats! Sisal balls and corrugated paper complete the structure and encourage cats to behave as they would in their natural element, the choice of materials makes them more comfortable and the earthy tones bring a zen energy to the environment it is in. It integrates the human-cat-space elements into one pet product which is more entertaining, useful, and cost-effective because it serves multiple purposes. The cat house is adaptable and expandable to suit your flexible lifestyle. Add soft cushions, some toys, a litter box and you have a beautiful cat home with a minimal aesthetic that will fit your style and space!

A modular cat tree for when your pet is also your co-worker!

Okay, we can all agree there is never enough cat content (barring ‘Cats’ the movie) and we always want to give our pets everything ‘they’ (read: we) dream of. I know people who would buy furniture for their cat than actually getting a coffee table for themselves. And now that we all are spending more time at home with our cats, the territory that was usually theirs for half the day is now a shared space. Your pet is also your co-worker now so it is important to keep them occupied while you focus on work and since most of us live in shared apartments or small flats, it is important that we don’t buy a cat palace but invest in a more space-saving structure like Catssup.

This particular piece of cat furniture is extremely easy to set-up and seamlessly integrates with your current home setting minus the bulkiness of a conventional cat tree. In 2020, it is all about how modular the product is and that applies to pet furniture too. With Catssup you can create a DIY jungle gym by simply clamping the different parts onto existing furniture and changing the set-up whenever ‘you’ (read: your cat) need. The best part is that it doesn’t require any floor space so if you want to lie down and WFH – you absolutely can with the extra room!

The Catssup set includes a Dot Step, a Sleeping Pill, a Space Ball, a Cloud Lounge and a Climbing Tower – I would just like to say that I strongly believe human furniture should also have fun labels like this and maybe we would be more invested in it. The Dot Step is a circular attachment that lets your pet explore vertical places with the Cloud Lounge and Sleeping Pill are resting attachments. The Space Ball and Climbing tower are play pieces to keep your cat entertained, especially during virtual meetings. All you have to do is screw and clamp for rearranging the pieces suited to different functions. The C-clamp is adjustable so it will fit horizontal boards/surfaces easily.

Pet furniture > human furniture.

Sweden’s first cat psychologist helped create this perfect cat home!

Anyone who has a pet knows that we only work hard to give them the life they deserve, and just like us the folks at 24 Storage understand that you must pamper your children especially the furry ones! So they came up with this ingenious Cat Flat that looks like a modern piece of furniture on the outside and keeps your cats happy on the inside. It is essentially a penthouse for your cat that matches your living room.

The Cat Flat has been carefully designed based on the advice of Sweden’s first cat psychologist, Susanne Hellman Holmström, who brought to light the 10 necessities apart from basic essentials that cats need for the best emotional and physical health. The needs range from scratching, cleaning fur, playing, discovering, being social, etc. and Cat Flat takes care of them all keeping in mind they spend most of their time indoors. Think of it as a hybrid of a home and a jungle gym for your cat.

Based on the cat psychologist’s advice, Hellman Holmström collaborated with interior designer Eleonor Moschevitz created the details, aesthetics, and functionality of the Cat Falt. It looks like an organic wooden storage cabinet crafted from walnut veneer with dross having vertical slats at different angles to give it a lift. It has three levels for your cats inside complete with stimulating elements and toys. Your home doesn’t have to be taken up by random cat play areas anymore, this beautiful piece of furniture checks the box for you and your feline friends.

This scratching post + bed is everything our furry feline overlords need

It’s a common belief that cats have basically three primary emotions. Curiosity, displeasure, and sass (I’d say hunger too, but hunger isn’t an emotion). Don’t expect cats to display gratitude for the stuff you give them because they aren’t empathetic beings. They’ll ignore the scratch-post you got for them, and they’d rather sleep in someone else’s bed than their own. However, surprise them with something that piques their curiosity and they’ll probably give it more attention. The KATRIS Nest combines a cat-bed with a scratching post to create something new that should truly surprise your feline companion. Created with a 100 corrugated sheets lined up to form a highly textured ring with a comfy felt base, the KATRIS Nest is a tactile delight. Designed for rubbing, scratching, and resting, the Nest uses sturdy but lightweight materials, and comes with a removable felt cushion to reveal a periodically-replaceable corrugated scratching pad at the bottom.

The Nest isn’t like most cat-products. It taps into a slightly bizarre side that seems pretty cat-appropriate. Given how cats are obsessed with cardboard boxes, the Nest pretty aptly chooses corrugated cardboard as its primary material, with a felt base for comfort. The bed’s shape and size is perfect for a cat to comfortably snuggle into, while the removable base turns the bed into a massaging+scratching toy to keep the cat entertained. You could even sprinkle some catnip into the corrugated paper slats to give your cat yet another thing to be surprised and amazed by. The cat isn’t a conventional animal, and the KATRIS Nest isn’t a conventional bed… that’s your match made in feline heaven!

KATRIS Nest Development Journey

The idea for the KATRIS Nest started when our founder Jeff noticed that his cat Ceo was always rubbing his back on the carpet. Jeff knew that KATRIS had the materials and the passion to produce it. At that time, KATRIS only specialized in cat furniture, but today, they are beginning to explore a new kind of product with the KATRIS Nest.

The hardest part in developing the KATRIS Nest was finding the perfect bowl shape. The team tried various shapes at first and went through various prototypes to find the right one, but the nest shape proved to be unbeatable.

This perfect shape includes 100+ side walls that are corrugated to form the rounded structure. With this complex design, the KATRIS Nest became a comfortable cat lounge, as well as a unique design piece in any home.

The design is perfect for cats to rub their back on because the material has a slight give that moves as the cat rubs. After the design, the next step was perfecting the material used in the making of the KATRIS Nest.

The eco-friendly corrugated material the team decided to use is durable, lightweight, and breathable, ultimately making it the most obvious choice.

The second material that covers the center of the KATRIS Nest is made with felt, and the soft, but slightly textured material offers a soft place for cats to lay.
