The McLaren P1 supercar designer created the world’s safest baby car seat with carbon fiber and 14 impact sensors

For parents and guardians traveling in cars with babies and young kids, they would of course want the best and the safest baby car seats for their charges. While there are a lot of options in the market, apparently, safety regulations have not been updated since the year 2000. That doesn’t mean designers and manufacturers haven’t been keeping up to date with all the newest technology to make these car seats safer and now we will be getting what is probably the safest and most technologically advanced product in the market.

Designer: Frank Stephenson

You would probably trust a designer who has worked on some pretty innovative things in the automotive industry. Designer Frank Stephenson, who has created cars like the McLaren P1, Ferrari F430, and Maserati MC12 among others, has come up with BabyArk. They are saying that this is the world’s safest and most innovative baby car seat as it is made of materials used by defense contractors and also uses advanced technology to make sure that the seat itself and the babies using it will be safe while traveling.

The frame of the BabyArk is made from carbon fiber and the base has energy-absorbing steel coils. The material will be able to slow down the forward momentum in case the car suddenly breaks or gets into an accident. Meanwhile, the headrest uses anti-shock polymer D30 while the side-impact protection that the seat provides is based on the woodpecker’s plate-like hyoid bones. In the testing process, the prototype went through more than 200 crash tests to make sure it is indeed safe and sturdy. The seat will be able to fit in kids up to 49 inches and between 4 and 65 pounds.

Another thing that makes this baby car seat unique is that it uses advanced technology alongside the “cutting-edge” materials. There are 14 sensors that can measure things like accelerometers and gyroscopes. It also tells you if the seat is not properly installed through the smartphone app. The BabyArk will be available by the end of May but you can already pre-order it for $990, a price that will probably be worth it if it keeps the babies and kids safe.

SOSwim Safety Bracelet for the kids alert you of danger and drowning

SOS means ‘Save Our Ship’ and people often use it not because their ship is wrecked but to express distress over a situation. The acronym is generally used in emergencies, and we believe it is something everyone in the world must be aware of.

When it comes to children’s safety, people must be aware of their surroundings. Adults must also prepare the basics like First Aid and know how to save a drowning child. You see, when it comes to kids’ security, safety, and privacy, you can never be too prepared.

SOSwim

Drowning is a leading cause of accidental death among children. It can be painful and it’s something you don’t want to witness or experience. SOSwim has been designed to solve situations when people, kids especially, are helpless. What it does is simple: send a notification to an adult’s smartphone if the child starts to drown.

The design of the safety bracelet is based on a lifebuoy. This includes the shapes and the colors, while the sea wave design on the bracelet is where the LED lights are located. It works with a compatible mobile app where parents can see the alerts and see the children’s physical ability.

The app also works as a fitness tracker as it can tell you your child’s distance, time, and body temperature. This helps prevent the kid from hypothermia as you can quickly call him to get off the water for a while. The safety bracelet will flash to communicate with your child. Other details the app can show include the name of the kid, age, height, distinctive features, temperature, distance, and time.

The bracelet is designed with photoluminescent silicone, which may help locate a drowning kid. The main signal light on the bracelet is composed of LEDs. It also features organic glass, 5mm LEDs, a heart rate monitor, Bluetooth connectivity, and a Micro Controller Unit (MCU).

This foldable child safety seat for ages 0-12 is designed to be used in a public taxi or even Uber!

Car seats for children are bulky, space-consuming, and have to be replaced often as they grow. We need child seats that are compact enough to store and be easily accessible in every car because the purpose is to keep your child safe irrespective of the car you have. Taxie is a Red Dot Design Award winner that solves this fundamental issue so you don’t have to choose between spending too much money on seats as your child grows or on a new car to fit a big seat. This foldable child safety seat makes it possible to share cars or take an Uber while still being able to carry your seat.

Apart from being universally car-friendly, Taxie works for children between 15 months to 12 years of age which is more than most current ones in the market, and adheres to the latest ECE-R129 standard of safety. Designers identified the top three reasons that make it difficult for shared car drivers to provide a child safety seat – children of different ages require different types of seat, a child safety seat is too bulky to store in the car boot, setting up a child seat and dismantling them take up time. It is impossible for parents or drivers to carry various sizes of child safety seats to accommodate all their needs.

It can be transformed into three different safety seats that suit infants, toddlers, and children above the age of 4 years. Just unlock the base, flip it over, adjust the headrest and you/the driver is good to go. Created for children with heights 76cm and above, this seat is a scalable product that is the size of hand luggage. Fold and store it in the boot when not in use while still leaving plenty of room for your luggage. Taxie’s flexible form helps drivers provide a better service for families with children and also for parents as one seat will last 12 years and can be used for multiple kids. The clever design maximizes what you get from a product through its versatility – it fits your needs and your car!

Simple Kid Lifesaver

Whether by accident or oversight, numbers of children die from heatstroke after being left unattended in cars. It’s an unfortunate yet completely avoidable situation, especially with help from smart-devices. This simple solution is one way of ensuring children are never forgotten. The 3-piece design detects the presence of a child with an under-seat sensor. In the event that a parent or guardian strays too far away, a signal is sent to the keychain unit where they receive both a vibrating & audible alarm reminder.
