Santa Frozen in Carbonite Christmas Tree Ornament: Brought to You by Jabba the Humbug

Because no holiday decorating is complete without a casual Star Wars theme, Tree Buddees has created this Santa Frozen in Carbonite Christmas tree ornament (affiliate link). The ornament features everyone’s favorite jolly gift-bringer frozen and on display, presumably to be admired by Jabba the Humbug in his palace.

The ornament measures 3.5″ x 2″, making it “the perfect size for any Christmas Tree.” So if you were wondering what Charlie Brown’s tree was missing, it was this ornament. I wonder how many people out there have trees decorated with ONLY Star Wars ornaments? My guess is more than you’d think.

Is Mrs. Claus going to stage a rescue operation to free Santa and ensure Christmas isn’t ruined for all the kids this year? I sure hope so, and not just because I have a Porsche 911 GT3 on the top of my list, and I was actually good this year. Okay, I was fair. Fair to poor. I was awful, as usual.

Plush COVID Christmas Ornaments are a Real Product That Exists

Because nothing says Christmas 2021 like COVID, GIANTmicrobes is selling this four-pack of plush microbial COVID inspired Christmas Ornaments for $25. However, I think it goes without saying, I doubt COVID is actually on anybody’s Christmas list this year.

The four-pack includes COVID-19 with fuzzy Santa hat, an antibody in forest greens and candy cane, a white blood cell dressed as a snowman with top hat and carrot nose, and a COVID-19 vaccine with snowflakes and Christmas lights embroidery. That’s just really weird, especially for anybody who doesn’t have a microbe or disease-themed Christmas tree, which is everybody.

I only hope Santa doesn’t plan on dishing out COVID for people on his naughty list this year. That would be wrong. Even more wrong than the year he gave me tetanus. Big deal, so I set up a couple of booby traps, I was a child! Fine, it was last year. I just wanted a Playstation 5 so bad!

Hallmark’s Keepsake 2021 Millennium Falcon Christmas Ornament

Because nothing quite says Christmas like Star Wars (back me up, 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special!), Hallmark is releasing this 2021 Keepsake Ornament of the Millennium Falcon (affiliate link). The metal ship measures 3.78″ wide, 1.4″ tall, 5.22″ long, and features a shiny silver finish. And with all the Mandalorian ornaments I’ve already purchased this year, I could probably decorate an entire Christmas tree with a Star Wars theme.

The ornament was designed by Hallmark artist Robert Hurlburt. However, I’m fairly certain the Corellian Engineering Corporation deserves most of the credit for building the YT-1300f light freighter the Millennium Falcon was modded from in the first place. Star Wars joke!

My wife and I have an entire box of Hallmark Keepsake ornaments commemorating different special occasions and anniversaries throughout the years. Or, I should say, we had an entire box of Hallmark Keepsake ornaments before I accidentally donated them all to Goodwill after mistaking the box for our old dinnerware. Obviously, I sadly expect my Christmas list to go largely unanswered this year.

HAL 9000 Christmas Ornament – 2001: A Spruce Odyssey

Aside from the neat glowing eye, this miniature HAL 9000 also plays some memorable audio clips from 2001, but we don’t know what those are yet. Hopefully, he sings “Daisy Bell” nice and slow like in the movie. Sure, he’s an evil computer, but that’s only because he was malfunctioning and possibly under orders from an alien intelligence, but he’s actually a nice guy who loves Christmas and wouldn’t hurt a soul. I think. I hope so.

The ornament will be available starting October 6 for $20. It makes you wonder what else Hallmark has in store for us this year. Hopefully, they’ll make the ship too, because I’d love to hang that on my tree right next to this one. Keep them coming, greeting card guys.

Build a TV Christmas Ornament That Plays Classic Commercials

“Christmas is too commercial, man!” You’ve heard that phrase uttered every year, and yes, it’s true. Christmas has been commercialized and taken over by the man. So you know what? If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. You can do this by actually making a Christmas ornament that plays commercials and hang it on your tree. There. Now Christmas is too commercial! But in a good way.

This fun ornament streams ‘90s commercials from YouTube, but you could make it stream anything you want. Maybe some Christmas cartoons, or a yule log, or a Christmas music video. This DIY project is from Sean Hodgins, and if you want to try building one for yourself, the 12-minute YouTube video here will show you how to do it, step by step.

Just keep in mind that this build isn’t for everyone. You need access to a 3D printer, and you need to know how to work with circuit boards too. Find the Instructable here. If you do build one for yourself, you are going to have a very cool ornament that brings your Christmas tree into the 21st century.

Pickle Rick Christmas Ornament: I Turned Myself Into an Ornament, Morty!

One of the greatest incarnations of Rick Sanchez in the multiverse has to be Pickle Rick, who appeared for the first time this past August on season 3, episode 3. While he starts off completely ineffective, Pickle Rick quickly becomes a vicious killing machine thanks the suit he cobbles together from cockroach and rat parts.

The first time I saw the episode, I immediately thought about how it’s a common holiday tradition to hang a pickle on Christmas trees, and how a Pickle Rick Christmas ornament would be a great addition to our tree this year. I then went on to completely forget about this idea until I saw this.

Telestic Design is making these fun, handpainted wood ornaments featuring the likeness of Pickle Rick, which will look great hanging in your tree alongside all of your other ornaments. I like the idea of doing a complete Rick and Morty tree, filled with ornaments of Mr. Poopybutthole, Snuffles the dog, Fart, Cromulon, King Flippy Nips, and the rest of the gang. There are certainly enough crazy characters out there to fill an entire tree.

The ornaments are available from Etsy for $10, but I also saw them up on Amazon for just $9.

Die Hard Christmas Ornament: Yippee Ki Yay, Father Christmas

As a child of the ’80s my favorite Christmas movie was a toss up between Scrooged with Bill Murray and Die Hard – the original only, not the follow ups mind you. If you don’t think Die Hard is a Christmas movie, I hope you choke on an entire buffet of dicks, and by that I mean you are wrong.

One of the most memorable scenes is where our favorite cowboy is slipping through the ductwork of the Nakatomi Plaza bitching about his vacay not going as planned. Some creative bastard made a simple, yet effective Christmas ornament of that scene and it is epic.

I know what I am watching tonight. This is an all-time great Christmas film – so much better than It’s a Wonderful Life.

Star Wars BB-8 Christmas Ornament

Love it or hate it, people are having a good time making fun and making crafts of that new ball-shaped droid from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The little rolling robot has become an instant part of pop culture. Now someone has gone and made the first ever BB-8 Christmas ornament.

He doesn’t roll or make droid noises, but he is glittery and appropriately designed. I hope Santa is a Star Wars fan, because if he is, the person who created this Christmas decoration is getting extra gifts. Now if there is a crossguard lightsaber under that tree, Christmas will be complete.

One minor complaint. Needs more lens flare.

Aura Wireless Christmas Lights: Oh Christmas Tree! Thy Lights Are so Untangled

A new lighting system on Kickstarter is going to make decorating Christmas trees much easier. Called Aura, it consists of LED balls that are powered wirelessly by an electromagnetic transmitter, which fits inside or at the base of a Christmas tree.

Aura’s LEDs will last up to 20 years. They come in white or multicolored, while their ball case comes in clear, frosted or crackled. The LED’s Wi-Fi-enabled variant can be toggled, scheduled or set to a timer via a mobile app.

Pledge at least $65 (USD) on Kickstarter to receive a 12-pack Aura set as a reward. I hope its inventors can come up with strips of power transmitters so we can be rid of Christmas lights for good.
