Karim Rashid, Beeple, and more artists collaborate to create the world’s most beautiful ‘digital analog clock’

Imagine if an NFT could tell time – that’s pretty much what Klydoclock feels like. The vintage pendulum-clock-inspired device comes with two circular display areas that showcase the time in unique ways. With an upper screen displaying the clock’s face and a lower one showing a swinging pendulum, Klydoclock relies on bizarrely beautiful visual styles that make reading the time an entrancing and contemplative experience. The clock’s visuals are the result of a collaboration between Klydo and some of the top animators and visual artists from around the world including the likes of Karim Rashid and Beeple.

Klydoclock plays on the idea of uplifting and reimagining the mundane. Most antique clocks (especially those grandfather clocks) were designed for reliability and precision, and to let you see the time at a glance. They weren’t made to captivate you or grab your attention, but modern art works rather differently. Created as a quirky bridge between those two approaches, Klydoclock is a clock you could spend your day watching. Klydoclock’s screens showcase creative visuals that depict the passage of time, but in unique animations.

Analog Clock with Infinite Animated Faces – Transform your time-reading experience into an infinitely variable one.

Own a Piece of Decor Everyone Will Talk About – Klydoclock brightens up your space and serves as conversation piece.

The clock’s outer appearance remains strictly traditional – a rounded box made from birchwood veneer. However, the magic is what happens inside the box. The two displays show time in a variety of styles, letting you not just choose from a roster of artists and their motion graphics, but even design your own. Through the Klydo Artist Collective, users can contribute to the expanding collection of clock faces from industry elites like Karim, Beeple, Simona Alunni, Matt Semke, and many more.

Each Klydoclock is equipped with two 60Hz displays that show the clock face and moving pendulum respectively. A knurled tactile knob lets you preview the different ‘Klydos’ (that’s what the art experiences/themes are called) as well as adjust the time on your clock. Each Klydoclock also comes with a remote that lets you cycle through audio and visual themes in the clock settings, displayed in a circular UI that’s as beautiful as the clock itself. Sticking to the ethos of displaying great art, the Klydoclock doesn’t come with any fancy smartphone app, and doesn’t have a built-in camera or microphone to snoop in on you. Its only motive is to enrich your life and tell you the time while doing so!

Ultimately, the Klydoclock is also a global movement to bring art into every home. The team at Klydo partnered with more than 150 artists from 30 countries, creating as many as 1500 Klydos (art themes) that you can choose from in the initial collection. The movement also aims at supporting artists – not just by sharing a portion of the revenue from the Klydoclock sales, but also through the Klydo Artist Collective, which will offer events, workshops, promotions, and other opportunities to participants. Each Klydoclock starts at $229, with global shipping starting as early as December 2023.

Weighing Scales get a fresh avatar with a skateboard inspired design

When it comes to fat scales, it’s hard not to notice the lack of innovation in their design. They all seem to blend together, lacking aesthetic appeal and attention to detail. It’s as if manufacturers have overlooked the importance of making these products visually appealing. Understandably, budget constraints and the assumption that customers prioritize functionality over design might be contributing factors. As a result, fat scales have never had the opportunity to shine as hero products for any company.

However, what if I told you there’s a fat scale that breaks free from the mundane and brings a touch of excitement to your daily routine? Allow me to introduce you to the Skateboard Scale, a revolutionary product that merges the functionality of a scale with the style of a skateboard.

Designer: Lee HUANG 黄力

The Skateboard Scale’s design is a game-changer. Gone are the days of a simple rectangular glass board with four metal pads. This innovative device takes it a step further, adding a new dimension of fun to your weighing experience. Equipped with a gravity sensor, when the Skateboard Scale is in a vertical position, it automatically switches to clock mode. But when you place it on the floor, it seamlessly transitions back into a fully functional scale.

One of the standout features of the Skateboard Scale is its space-saving design. Traditional scales often occupy valuable floor space, making them a hassle to store when not in use. However, this skateboard-inspired device provides a convenient storage solution. Its compact size and shape allow you to effortlessly tuck it away, far better than stashing it under furniture.

Moreover, the Skateboard Scale incorporates solar power panels, eliminating the need for constant recharging. It’s an environmentally friendly choice that reduces your carbon footprint while ensuring the scale is always ready for use. The utilization of solar panels also contributes to the sleek and modern aesthetic of the device. However, solar panels tend to break easily due to excess weight. It would be necessary to have them installed in a way that keeps them safe when weighing a person or even when handling and switching between the two positions. It has a magnet at the back that allows it to stick and hang on a magnetic surface easily

Functionality is not compromised in the pursuit of style. The Skateboard Scale is equipped with smart weight detection technology that accurately measures your weight, even if a part of your feet extends beyond the frame. This ensures precise readings and eliminates the need for readjustment, providing a seamless and efficient weighing experience.

To add a touch of flair to the design, the Skateboard Scale incorporates diamond grid patterns underneath the glass surface, reminiscent of traditional skateboard designs. There is an entire font type designed to match the aesthetic of the skateboard. These subtle details add personality and make the device visually appealing, appealing to those with an eye for style.

The combination of a skateboard-inspired shape, compact size, and thoughtfully integrated features makes the Skateboard Scale a standout product in the market. It breaks the monotony of conventional fat scales and introduces a new level of excitement and practicality to your daily routine.

Whether you’re a skateboarding enthusiast, a fashion-forward individual, or someone who appreciates innovative designs, the Skateboard Scale is sure to catch your attention. It’s a true fusion of style and functionality that challenges the norms of traditional fat scales, paving the way for a new era of personalized and exciting weighing experiences.

So, why settle for a standard fat scale when you can have a Skateboard Scale? Step on, weigh in and embrace the perfect blend of fun and practicality in one exceptional device.

These new-generation candles add a calming process to your bedtime routine

Don’t we all fall asleep every night while scrolling through our phones? Attending to all of the notifications received throughout the day feels like a responsibility. However, responding to any of these notifications opens up an entire thread of messages, causing you to lose track of time and fall behind on your sleep routine.

People in the pre-tech era had better sleeping habits. Blue light is harmful to the eyes and affects one’s circadian rhythms (aka sleep-wake cycle) which is why it is recommended that one does not look at any screen till two hours before sleeping in order to have a good and well-rested sleep.

Candles were utilized for purposes other than fragrance in the past. Candle timers are thin candles with evenly spaced markings that, when lighted, represent the passage of time. They also provided a soothing environment to promote one’s circadian rhythms but lacked the ease and dependability of modern technologies. Many people find it difficult merely to lie down and sleep. Our minds are glued to the distractions that the screens offer. We wait till our eyes fatigue and dry out and we can no longer stay awake. This one-of-a-kind method for truly unwinding and relaxing your mind is exactly what you need to incorporate into your everyday sleep regimen.

CClock is a modern-day candle timer that incorporates simple mechanic controls while retaining the simplicity and tranquility of traditional candle clocks. This product allows one to reap the benefits without having to worry about running out of wax.

The clock features an adjustable lever and a darkened timer, allowing customers to personalize their experience and adapt it to their preferred ambiance. This keeps a person preoccupied and disconnected from the screen one can zone out and eventually fall asleep by watching the candle burn out. The approach encourages a healthy sleep cycle. However, the use of yellow light as an alternative to the currently recommended white light can be looked into it. Yellow light is better suitable for resting eyes and would improve the peaceful experience by proving beneficial for circadian rhythms.

The body of the battery-operated CClock has a sleek and modern appearance and is accented with six orange dots, each signifying 10 minutes of total timer capacity for a maximum of 60 minutes. This allows customers to set their desired relaxation time easily and correctly, with clear and easy indicators that improve usage and convenience.

CClock can also be used as part of the ambient lighting in a room. To illuminate the entire product, flip the lever upwards once it has reached its maximum position and has darkened entirely. This operation will disable the timer and allow the candle to burn completely and indefinitely. This function gives users more freedom in how they use the device by allowing them to switch from timed relaxation to full candlelight as needed.

The design can be upgraded by adding a feature of the sunlight alarm. Sunlight alarms are lights that progressively brighten up at a set time allowing you to gradually experience and wake up as the sun rises. Combining the 2 products would undoubtedly upsell this thoughtful design.

The candle’s framework is intended to be versatile. In addition to serving as a stable platform for the electronic candle and lever mechanism, the base has a small compartment for rings or other small things. This enhanced functionality allows consumers to store jewelry, hair accessories, chains, earphones, or any other valuables while using the device in a convenient and secure location.

Designed to mimic the setting sun, this reinterpretation of the analog wall clock brings it into the modern era!

Nick is a reinterpretation of the traditional analog clock, replacing hour and minute hands and markers with a sophisticated glass container that keeps an hourglass, ambient lighting, and sand to represent the slow descent of the sun.

The bad news is analog clocks are gradually reaching their point of obsolescence. The good news is new products are taking their place. There’s a comfort that comes with wall and desk lamps. It could be the constant tick-tock that feels soothing or the nostalgia that’s practically synonymous with a grandfather clock. Whatever it is, clocks bring a certain charm to every home.

Bonding the comfort of a grandfather clock and the peace that comes with watching a sunset, Seoul-based design group Low Roof conceptualized Nick, a reinterpretation of the traditional analog clock that replaces minute and hour hands with an hourglass, ambient lighting, and sand.

Designed to resemble the changing light display of the sun, the creatives behind Nick describe its inspiration, “The Nick was inspired by the sunset that symbolizes the end of the day. It was designed based on the circle of the sun, the visual elements of the slowly darkening sunset, and the principle of using the hour clock.”

Nodding to the sand-filled hourglass that indicated the passing of time throughout the day, Low Roof says, “The sand slowly obscures the light to adjust the illumination level.”

As the day goes on, the sand in the hourglass passes from the top chamber into the bottom one, indicating how much time has passed since sunrise.

Come dusk, the light inside of Nick is partially blocked and softened by the sand that grows in height to mimic the look of the sunset outside. Envisioned in a dark wood, olive green glass, and brass-dyed aluminum exterior, Nick fits right into the modern home.

Designer: Low Roof

The Nick is designed to capture the feeling of watching the sunset.

Encased in a blown-glass container, the Nick features a sand-filled hourglass and ambient lighting.

Just like a regular analog clock, Nick’s timing can be adjusted at any time.

The Sunlight Clock aims to de-stress you by redefining the passage of time

The Sunlight Clock will make you feel like you are watching the sunset instead of making you want to rush. And it comes with a cube that lets you catch the sunlight and use it later! Designer Linda set out to challenge the perception of time and she did that by letting you create your own timeline with the cube.

The sunlight clock was designed to challenge the general emotion a clock radiates – the urgency of time fleeting is replaced by a calm feeling of just watching the light fade gently. This clock is meant to be in spaces where you are at rest, where you can let time pass without having to do anything about it. The minimal design only has numbers and lets sunlight dictate what angle it forms, much like the sundial which is one of the first clocks used by humans. The designer also has a small concrete cube with a slit for the light that you can use to place on surfaces that tells you about the passage of time. Linda shares the DIY design to help you create your own concrete mold. Once your concrete box is set and dry, all you have to do is set up the internal circuit and your personal time-free timeline monitor is ready to use. You can create your own timeline to meditate, read, listen to music as the ray of sunlight moves around. So if you don’t have a place with a lot of natural light, the cube will make up for it!

The cube lets you catch the sunlight which otherwise disappears into the wall thanks to the fitted circuit inside that mimics the same behavior. So you can have your own beam of light that helps you wind down and makes you cherish the passing time!
