We Bet this Color LEGO Millennium Falcon Can Do the Kessel Run in 11 Parsecs

Why is it that spaceships in science fiction have a tendency to be grey or other blah colors? It makes little sense to me, given the fact that we love colorful cars. Heck, I drive an orange car myself. That said, it would have been nice if some of the ships in Star Wars were more vibrant. Take, for example, this brightly colored Millennium Falcon, built from LEGO bricks.

Artist and LEGO fanatic Mike Marrocco of Funk Blast Art created this amazing model, which does away with the drab shades of grey and replaces them with oranges, blues, yellows, greens, purples, and more. He says the build took about 25 hours, and cost him about $500 using parts he bought over on bricklink. I’m thinking if I tried, it would take me at least 100 hours and $1000.

Frankly, it seems much more likely that the Falcon would have looked like this, being cobbled together from bits and pieces of other ships, and other salvaged bits and bobs.

I’d love to see an entire Star Wars film populated with brightly colored ships like this. Can you imagine a full-color Death Star? That would be sweet – especially when it blows up. Amazing build, Mike!

You can check out a few more of Marrocco’s cool and colorful builds in the Instagram gallery below:

Creative Halo Bluetooth Speaker Adds a Splash of Color to Your Tunes

Bluetooth speakers are a dime a dozen, so if you’re going to make one these days, it had better stand out from the crowd. There are only so many bland black rectangles that we can take. Creative’s Halo speaker does a good job differentiating itself with a bright splash of colorful lighting on its front.

Measuring in at about 6.9″ (w) x 4.25″ (h) x 2.75″ (d), and weighing just over a pound this Bluetooth speaker is small enough to go anywhere, and features a colorful light ring around its speaker grille to give it some visual excitement to go with your music.

It works in concert with a companion smartphone app, which lets you program the colors to your liking, with a selection of 12 moving patterns. You can even make it pulse to the beat of your music.

The speaker itself features a pair of full-range drivers mounted in a bass-reflex enclosure. Creative says that it offers up a deep bass punch, but I can’t really comment on its sound quality since I’ve yet to listen to one. Battery life for the Halo speaker is rated at 8 hours, and the speaker also has a built in microphone for taking phone calls.

The Creative Halo speaker is available now for $69.99(USD) over on Amazon.

Sceptre X322XV-HDR TVs Come in Bright Colors That Make the ’80s seem Bland

The differences between my son and my daughter are amusing. When I took my son TV shopping, all he wanted was the biggest screen possible. My daughter, on the other hand was perfectly willing to get a small screen providing the TV was “such ‘dorable.” I think Sceptre’s new line of colorful TVs would be “such ‘dorable” in the eyes of most kids and a lot of adults too.

You can get the X332XV-HDV 32-inch TVs with a bright pink case, purple case, or a white case. I’m not even going to show my daughter the pink one because she would go nuts. Other than bright colors, the TVs are LED backlit and offer 1366 x 768 resolution. Sure, that isn’t very good these days, but on a screen this small the difference will be slight for most people.

The sets also have three HDMI puts and a pair of 10W speakers. Pricing for the TVs is unknown, but similarly sized plainly colored TVs from Sceptre go for around $200-$250. If looks matter more than specs and performance, this might be the perfect set for you.
