This purifier’s 4 part cleansing process works on your clothes and your room

Now more than ever we are looking for home appliances that are multifunctional and extra points to those that have additional cleaning or purification functions, right? If I find a keyboard that can also sanitize my hands then maybe I will spend more time working from home, or maybe a coffee mug that also doubles up as a portable facial steamer! The concept of combining purification functionality with a home appliance is a gold mine right now and that is why there is no surprise that the FAD 01/02 clothing and air multi-care system is one of the winners of the Red Dot Design Awards 2019.

This clothes purifier is a mini wardrobe with a large mirror that not only purifies your clothes but also your room when you leave its door open – much friendlier than how my refrigerator acts when I do the same thing with it. As the dust pollution and pollen allergies increase, this sleek home appliance offers a solution by blasting precise gushes of air on the hung clothes to removes the dust and pollen. The continuous air circulation means no particles are left behind on the clothing. It allows you to select settings for different types of clothing items, different materials, and cleansing options on its user-interface screen.

It’s dual cleaning system then sprays nano electrolyzed water onto the clothing, absorbing and removing odor and leftover dust particles. After that, the clothes are dried and dehumidified in a low-temperature setting. The FAD 01/02 ensures your clothes come out clean and wrinkle-free thanks to its intricate 4-part system and a methodical cleansing process. Once your clothes are out, leave the door open and let its dehumidifying and air purifying systems work to cleanse your indoor air as well – works in all seasons too!

The Fad 01/02 is a winner of the Red Dot Design Awards 2019.

Water filtration fountains set up across London to reduce disposable plastic bottle usage

So, it’s no secret that the new water fountains that have recently found a home within London have been greeted with a rather negative and unwelcomed response, however the motive for their introduction is extremely respectable; encouraging the cities occupants to re-fill their water bottles in order to reduce the amount of the planet-destroying plastic waste that we are guilty of creating. The intriguing collaboration between cloudandco design studio and Coway has led to this far more considered and appealing alternative to the aforementioned offenders. This minimalistic refill station is constructed from stainless steel and features a sink-less, uninterrupted design. The water that is distributed from the station has been passed through the internal filtration system that removes any nasty bacteria and micro-plastics to provide us with fresh, impurity-free water!

Designers: Cloudandco & Coway

“The Oxford Times states that if 1 out of 10 British people were to refill once a week, about 340 million plastic bottles can be salvaged. However, the main issue is not of awareness, but that of the reliability of drinking fountains. Currently, the public conception is that 77% is concerned with the fountains’ maintenance, as well as the quality of their water supply,” Cloudandco told Yanko Design.

To address this issue, Yeongkyu Yoo of Cloudandco reached out to Coway, a specialist leading in water purification systems. Together, they developed an evolved drinking water system that is not only convenient and affordable, but also informative—the Water (refill) Station.

A clean office space needs clean water

The office space used to be one of ‘trendy’ patterns on office dividers, chairs that offered no lumbar support but had an abundance of cushioning and outdated phones/water dispensers/kitchen appliances and more. There has been a silent office space revolution happening underneath us, and I think we’re all with it. Dae-hoo Kim certainly is, with his redesign of the water purifier, the CHPI-620. This device not only purifies water but also produces ice. This is a combined water purifier + ice maker that can be installed in homes and businesses to purify tap water of contaminants such as fine particles, rust residue, heavy metals, and chlorine using multiple filters and provide its users with clean drinking water and ice. It’s designed with its ice-making feature on the left and its purified cold/hot/room-temperature water features on the right so anyone can use it easily and intuitively. The purifier itself is gorgeously simplified with two pads signifying the interaction points for the user of both the ice and the water outputs. The bottom ledge cleanly reaches out, inviting the user to rest their glass upon it during the filling process. With a backlit indication and a larger aperture, it is evident which nozzle is the ice and which is the water, adding once again to what is a subtle yet attractive enhancement to the workspace.

Water Air and Ice

I like to think of Coway as underdogs from the Far East. They have some of the most amazing consumer products that are top-notch in Industrial Design. Works like the A1(CHP-241N), CAIRS & ICE+WATER are very Rams’ styled; minimal and bespoke. With many accolades and awards under their belt, here is a look at some recent products that ring a bell.

CAIRS by Seung-woo Kim

CAIRS is a personal air purifier that can be used anywhere on the go. Think of your car, at home or at the office; this little device purifies dust and odor in the air and sterilizes bacteria, viruses, etc. Pretty much tries to remove the excuse of ‘not feeling well’ out of your life! The iconic hole is a key design feature which functions as a handle improving portability and extending usability. Optimal air purification is possible thanks to the Plasma Ion sterilization technology that it uses. This removes 99.5% of air-borne viruses.

ICE+WATER by Seung-woo Kim

Ice+Water has been designed to be installed in kitchens and to provide clean drinking water and pure ice. With just a single touch you can extract both hot and cold water and even pure ice without delay. Its 5-step filtration system removes 99.95% infusible fine particles, rust residue, chlorine, heavy metals and other pollutants from tap water and dispenses clean water and pure ice made with purified water.

A1(CHP-241N) by Jin-gyu Seo & Murata Chiyaki

The CHP-240N is a water purifier that converts tap water into perfect drinking water using a filtering process. Its defining factor is the completely changed internal specifications that make it more functional. It can be used to fill standard sized cups with water as well as big pots. You need not wait and watch the container fill with water because you can select a preset amount of water extraction.
