Baby shark, color color color color, baby shark. Somehow the creators of Baby Shark have turned a 2 minute repetitive jingle into a merchandising empire. And now they’ve even partnered with Crayola to create the Color Wonder Baby Shark Coloring Book. It (somehow?!) features 18 full pages of baby sharks for your kids to color in. Apparently there’s a lot of scenarios that these sharks can get themselves into besides just stating their own names in song. Five markers are also included, so you’re ready to color straight away, all with no mess.

Wait, no mess? If you’re not familiar with Crayola’s “Color Wonder” products, these are specially designed magic markers and paper. The markers will ONLY write on the Color Wonder paper and not all over your walls, tables, kids faces, bathtub, and all the other great places kids love to use markers on. It’s all the fun of markers, without all the fun of Mom having to clean up the walls afterwards. How does it work exactly? Magic. That’s why they’re called “magic markers”. You could make your own crayons by melting down other crayons and then reforming them, only to melt THOSE crayons back down and re-reform them eventually entering some sort of 5 level deep crayon inception that even Leonardo DiCrayonaprio would approve of. Or you could just pick up some Crayon Clay and do it the easy way. It’s clay that air dries into usable crayons. No melting, no heat, no ruining mom’s fancy saucepan that she got for 20% off in the triple B’s Beyond section.

The box comes with 5 colors (blue, white, red, yellow, and green) which kids can mix and match to make their own unique crayon colors and of course shapes. Mold the soft clay into any crazy shape you want, or just make a boring crayon shape. There’s no wrong way to sculpt it and there’s infinite creative crayon shapes that can be made.

DIY Bouncy Balls Kit

Is there any kid’s toy more classic than the ol’ bouncy ball? Kids have enjoyed them for generations, bouncing them around the house, breaking lamps, losing them in sewers, and just having fun. But kids of today don’t want some random color they get from the quarter machine- they want to design their own style balls. They can with the Creative Kids DIY Magic Bouncy Balls kit. There’s enough materials in here to make about 43 balls, so it’s great for party favors and for the kids who constantly bounce them over the fence into your mean neighbor’s yard.

The set includes 25 bags of powder crystals in varying neon shades and 5 ball molds. The process is quite simple- just pour the mix into the molds, submerge in warm water to harden, and then the hardest part (for kids anyway)- wait 10 minutes for it to harden. Fondoodler is a Glue Gun for Cheese

Kraft cheese? More like craft cheese. Everyone knows that cheese is basically the world’s greatest food, that’s a well researched inarguable fact. Now you can turn cheese into the ultimate building material with the Fondoodler. Create your own edible 3d creations. Aerosol canned cheese (wiz) is limited to just one type of very odd tasting cheese- what’s up with that taste? Yuck. But with the Fondoodler you can use not only any variety of cheese you wish but virtually any form of cheese- blocks, shredded, sting cheese. There’s no wrong type of cheese- well maybe something crumbly like feta, but really any cheese that melts well can be the mortar for your cracker creation.

Make a healthy sugar-free gingerbread house with crackers instead of cookies and cheese instead of icing. The culinary possibilities are endless. Think cracker castle. Just load up the Fondoodler with your cheese of choice, let it heat up for 3 minutes and then push down like a caulk gun of delicious dairy extrusions. Urinal Splashback Danger Meter

You in danger! It’s a common problem in all men’s restrooms- splashback. Combined with rampant poor aim (we can’t help it, it’s in our DNA), splashback can cause the area near all urinals to be a danger zone of pee puddles. Sticky and gross. At Instructables headquarters they postulated that the problem can be solved with a little peer pressure encouraging men to stand a bit closer so they “aim for the drain”. And that peer pressure can be applied with a DIY gadget- the Urinal Splash Danger Meter. Because an overly technical complex solution to simple problems is always best, right?

They built a solar powered pee-stance quality meter to get peeing peers to stand in the right spot. It’s simply a solar panel and an analog meter. The closer you stand to the solar panel, the less light hits it and the less danger is indicated. Stand further back and more light hits the panel and you’re more in danger of creating splashback. Complete instructions to make your own splashometer are above. You’re gonna need the following parts:

After installing there’s one more important step:

Washing Machine Aquarium

Have you ever looked at one of those front loading washing machines and thought to yourself, “this would make a great aquarium”? Well now you will. And you’re not alone. Rochester Appliance came up with the idea to add some extra visual appeal to their appliance showroom and got right to work.

They gutted the washing machine. Then they cleaned out the drum, waterproofed the tub, making sure to do everything using fish-safe materials. Added in a filter, air pump, accesses, heater, and water treatment products. It’s just that easy. 3 easy steps. Because of the weight of the tank when filled with water, they opted to suspend it via cables to the top of the machine.

Next they added some LED lights and some cool fish and boom! It’s the best thing to come out of Rochester since the garbage plate. Full instructions on how to make your own here.

DIY WiFi Controller for a Keurig

Get your morning coffee brewing without getting out of bed! Sure they do make some coffee machines with built-in timers but what if your schedule is irregular? (Insert your own “coffee keeps you regular” joke here). One hero Instructables user made his own WiFi powered controller for his Keurig machine.

There are extensive details at the link above if you’re actually going to build your own but the basic idea is to use an Arduino Yun wired to his coffee machine, then connected via a router to a web page he made. He simply uses his smartphone to go to the page, clicks a link and it tells the Arduino to open the circuit and turn on the coffee maker. By the time he gets to the kitchen, coffee is brewed. Of course he has to pre-load the machine with a K-cup and water each night. It’s a pretty extensive workaround to getting out of bed, but like they say- laziness is the mother of invention.

Batman Tumbler Stroller

One lucky kid named Collin just got the world’s greatest stroller. The boy is already a Batman mini-fan and his father is a huge Batman fan so the Superfan Builds team built a Batman Tumbler stroller for them. They started out with a computer model, then printed it on paper to test for accuracy. The frame was built from steel tubing. A car seat was used for the seat.

A CNC router was used to cut PVC foam sheeting to make the exterior of the Batmobile. They used a high strength glue to put the pieces together. They attached it to the frame, primed and painted it. Then they attached all the detail pieces. And the reveal:

That is going to be one popular kid. And dad. Not sure who is more excited about it really. Amazing. Check out the whole video here to see the process in more detail.

3D Printed T-Rex Showerhead

Well now I guess we all are going to have to add 3D printers to our holiday shopping lists. With 3D printing technology your imagination is the limit to what you can create. And someone imagined a T-Rex shower head. And it was made. And since the plans were publicly released here on Thingaverse, anyone with a 3D printer could make their own dinosaur shower head from the comfort of their home. And they did.

They actually do sell quite a few dragon faucets but dinosaur faucets or showerheads is not something that’s commercially available (and really I did look it up because that’s the kind of thorough research we do here. also the reason why my browser history will probably baffle future researchers for years to come.) So if you can’t buy, you make it. It does look like a pretty intense stream of water coming from that dinosaur’s mouth, I prefer more of a massaging spray shower head. Maybe more of a brontosaurus than a T-Rex. (via nerd approved)

Power Mac Bench

Got a pair of outdated Power Mac G5′s lying around and some talent in woodworking? Why not combine the two and make this sleek bench? That’s what Projekt Galerie did and the result is actually pretty stunning. The wood bench top was carved into a bow shape at the edges to fit seamlessly onto the top of the old computer chassis (yes that is the plural form of the word, spelled the same but pronounced differently- I just looked it up, grammar cops):

I’d sit that. Why Apple built this desktop with two large handles like you’d be toting it around from room to room is a mystery we’ll never know. BUT, it allows that plank of wood to seat itself perfectly in between and look almost as if it was meant to be. Maybe it was. But why stop at just a bench?

In the rendering above they’ve envisioned an entire office made of Power Macs. That’s probably a little overboard even for this Apple fanboy but if you have access to this many excess desktops then why not go for it? Are Power Macs the new pallets? High end upcycling. (via gizmodo)
