Star Wars Crochet Kit: Crafty Jedis

Because who hasn’t dreamed of crocheting their own little Jedi army to take on the Empire, AlwaysFits is selling this Star Wars Crochet Kit. The kit includes everything you need to make your own Yoda and R2-D2, along with instructions to make more characters; you’ll just need to buy the yarn and eyeballs. Oh – and learn how to crochet.

I’ve tried crocheting before, and I just don’t think I have the patience for it. Or the hand-eye coordination. I’ve got the feeling no matter what character I tried making, they would all just wind up looking like Jabba the Hutts. And not a realistic Jabba the Hutt either, the kind a kid might draw.

Those instructions look like some sort of secret coded message to decipher. What are you trying to tell me, crochet book? Is Obi-Wan our only hope?! Or that it’s better to just give up now before I disappoint myself again? Because I’m pretty sure it’s the latter.

Toss a Giant Crochet Spider on Your Couch

Most spiders are actually good for the environment, wiping out a wide variety of pests, including many that carry diseases. Still they’re pretty creepy looking, and the bigger they are, the scarier these eight-legged insects can be. But if you absolutely love spiders, then maybe you should get a gigantic one that you can toss around the couch amongst your throw pillows.

If you’re looking for something fun to do with your spare time, get out the yarn and knitting needles, and knit yourself a giant spider! MyTwinsCrochetNL sells a crochet pattern that makes a massive 20″ diameter spider that’s sure to get a rise out of anyone you toss it onto.

Since this is a DIY spider, you can make it in any color you want. So if you like the idea of a fiery orange spider or a lime green spider, that’s cool.

Unfortunately, if you don’t know how to crochet, you’re out of luck, because they’re only selling the pattern files. But if you have the skills to pull it off, you can get started for just about $10 for the pattern, then about 500 grams of acrylic yarn. They offer patterns in US English, UK English, German, and Dutch, because the giant bugs know no borders.

Crocheted Predator Halloween Costume Is Cute and Creepy

Let me introduce you to the world’s cutest Predator costume; an all-crocheted kid’s Predator costume to be precise. Thankfully instead of trophies like spines, armor and other bones, this predator is happy to walk away with a bag of Halloween candy and call it a night.

This awesome costume was made by Crochetverse for her six-year-old son. Forget wearing one of those cheap plastic Ninja Turtle masks or Optimus Prime, this costume wins Halloween. In a sea of Black Panthers and Wonder Women, this bad boy stands out. As a bonus, this will be the warmest costume out there on Halloween night.

Crochetverse only recently allowed her son to see the movie and apparently, he loved it. So she crocheted this. Now that’s a good mom. She could have just put some aluminum foil over a cardboard box and told him to be a robot. She actually has a history of making her son cool costumes. In the past she has made E.T., Pennywise the clown, and more. I hope that my mom is paying attention to this.

Will you look this awesome on Halloween night? No, you will not.

Crocheted Chemistry Set: Breaking Itchy

Growing up, I always thought taking a chemistry class would be awesome. I figured that it would be all fun and games making stuff that oozed and blew up. Once I grew up and went to college, I finally took a chemistry class. Reality was far less exciting than my expectations. This crocheted chemistry set looks like much more fun than that class.

Each test tube, beaker, and burner is made of yarn and looks suitably itchy. It was made by Lauren of A Menagerie of Stitches, who will soon be selling patterns for the set on her Etsy shop. You won’t make any exploding green goo with this, but it might get you bonus points if you made one and gave it as a holiday gift to your chem teacher.

The Crochet AT-AT Strikes Back

You can choose from many crochet patterns in Etsy seller Krawka’s store, but what we are really interested in is an AT-AT, not some droid who speaks Bocce.

This AT-AT is probably the cutest crochet item of them all. It’s pretty large too, at 10.2-inches. This should crush any crochet rebel scum you might have around your house. Unless there is a crochet rebel snowspeeder with a tow cable of course. If so, this thing is in big trouble.

This guy is so adorable, how can you not adopt him and take him home? It’s the eyes. Definitely the eyes. Remember, though, you will have to make him yourself, as you’re only buying the pattern. Guess you could always hire some stormtroopers to do the sewing for you.

Winter is Coming, Better Get These Dragon Scale Crochet Gloves

It’s that time of year again. Winter will be here soon and that means it is just about time to start wearing gloves. This pair of dragon scale gloves by Etsy artist Mareshop is way better than anything you own.

The gloves are out of stock right now due to being completely badass and in demand, but Mareshop says they’re crocheting as fast as they can. So definitely check back at their store.

If you do get a pair, maybe find a cool dragon themed jacket and hat to go with them. Be the Mother of Dragons and fight winter with the power of fire this year.

Stay on Target with These Crocheted X-Wing Fighter Blankets

These crocheted X-wing Fighter blankets are awesome. They not only look like X-Wing fighters and are warm and cozy, but you can also crawl inside! A blanket that is also a ship that you can pilot? Count me in. Pew pew pew! Stay on target.

They were designed and crafted by Michelle of MJ’s Off The Hook Designs. Just feed your legs into the body of the X-wing and you can keep your hands warm in the engine pockets. But wait! No Astromech pillow behind you? That’s cool. I would just be happy to climb in and flap my arms while I pretend to assault the Death Star.

If you think you want to make this and support the rebel cause you can find the pattern HERE. Best blanket ever!

The Legend of Zelda Title Screen Blanket: A Stitch Between Worlds

Link, Princess Zelda and the rest of The Legend of Zelda series turned 30 yesterday, so I thought I’d look for a Zelda-related item as a birthday present. I didn’t have to look far, thanks to Sprite Stitch forum member rufusdampfer, who crocheted this awesome blanket that depicts the title screen from the first game in the series.

Rufusdampfer says they spent around 2 hours each day for 4 months to create the blanket.

You can hear it too, can’t you? Happy birthday Hyrule! May you have more stories to come.

Guy Spends Six Years Crocheting Super Mario Bros. 3 Map

Six years. Think about it. In six years’ time you can accomplish quite a bit. If you had that much time, what would you do? Well, this guy crocheted himself an awesome Super Mario Bros. 3 map. That’s using your time wisely.

Kjetil Nordin is a Norwegian computer programmer. He is also a skydiving champion and a crochet master. It took him about 800 hours to make this masterpiece, using his free time to get it done.

He made sure that he used the right yarn colors so he could match the Super Mario All-Stars version of the game. It looks completely authentic to me.

Crochet Big Daddy: Itchy Daddy

My grandmother used to do a lot of crochet when I was growing up. She was always making me some sort of socks or a blanket. I hated those blankets. Not only did they have tons of holes to let cold air in, they were itchy as well. If your grandmother is still around or if you are into crochet, you should make one of these Big Daddies from BioShock.

The Big Daddy is one of my favorite characters from the game and I can still remember the first time I ran across one of these bad boys. This crochet Big Daddy by Nichole’s Nerdy Knots even has LED lights that make the portals in the helmet glow.

If you have some yarn and massive needles at your house, you can get the pattern to make one of these yourself at Ravelry and get step by step instructions at Instructables.
