Disco Ball Helmets: For Dangerous Dance Parties

These unique crash helmets are decorated in the style of a disco ball, handmade and sold by Etsy shop Disco2Disco. Each helmet features a retractable visor and is not VDOT approved for road wear. That’s a shame too, because how else are you supposed to let other motorists know you’re the life of the highway party?

Available in all silver, a combination of silver with some rose gold, or all rose gold, the helmets are available in sizes S – XL and cost around $200. A small price to pay to instantly be the center of attention for any gathering you attend (or crash), particularly any weddings or funerals.

Now it just needs an integrated sound system and orbiting spotlight and you’re a human disco party! And who hasn’t dreamed of being a mobile disco party on two feet? I know as a kid it’s what I always dreamed about being when I grew up. That or a dinosaur.

The Santasizer: 11 Synchronized Synthesized Dancing Santas

Crafted by musical mad scientist Sam Battle of Youtube channel Look Mum No Computer, the Santasizer isn’t an antibacterial hand gel to help keep the coronavirus at bay, but eleven dancing Santa toys from the 90’s connected to a synthesizer that reacts to the input being played through them. Fingers crossed, my company booked them for this year’s holiday party!

In the video, Sam and the Santas perform a funky rendition of the Christmas classic ‘God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen,’ complete with all the Santas’ sunglasses moving up and down as they bob to the beat. I only wish I could dance that well, then maybe people wouldn’t point and laugh so much when I hit the dance floor, usually with my head or face.

Now Sam just needs to install lasers in all of Santa’s eyes, so whenever they lift their sunglasses, they produce a laser light show, and he’s got himself a Christmas concert I would pay to go see! Not that I’m not excited to go see my nieces and nephews sing a bunch of carols off-key, there’s just always a very noticeable lack of laser beams.

The Finger Dance Machine: Like Dance Dance Revolution for Your Fingers

Fingers: after a long day of typing they just want to let loose. And what better way to let your digits go wild for a bit than with some rhythm-based finger dancing with this $43 Finger Dance Machine available from Firebox? Oh, no, my fingers are telling me they’d actually prefer a hot bath and manicure instead.

The Finger Dance Machine requires 4 AA batteries (not included) and uses your smartphone as its video screen. You just download the free Mini Finger Dance app, connect your phone to the machine via Bluetooth, and it’s time to put those fingers to a dancing test with “heaps of tunes – all with varying speed and complexity.” Needless to say, I will be playing nothing but the low-speed, low-complexity tunes and still failing to set any high scores.

But will playing it give me carpal tunnel? Or will it relieve carpal tunnel? What exactly is carpal tunnel, and did I really think it was spelled carpool tunnel until I just looked it up? Would I really admit it if I did? Yes and yes.

Boston Dynamics’ SpotMini Robot Wants to Uptown Funk You Up

Boston Dynamics continues to crank out creepy robots of questionable value to humanity. We’ve seen its SpotMini robot navigate around a warehouse before, looking for human souls to consume and heads to wear. Now the quadruped is doing something even more scary – dancing to Uptown Funk.

As the robot dances its ass off to Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ megahit, I can only assume this will be the victory dance SpotMini breaks out after it rips off your head. Behold your dancing robot overlord’s shiny yellow ass as it twerks its bunless rear towards the camera.

I wonder why they can’t wrap this thing in some sort of cutesy costume, so it doesn’t look like part rabid dog and part cobra.

Two Robots Do Some Dirty Dancing

Actually, what you are about to watch is a video from Agility Robotics of Cassie, a two-legged, ostrich-inspired robot and one of Boston Dynamics’ Spot quadruped robots. They are having a creepy little playdate.

Awww. Isn’t that adorable? Enjoy these years. When these robots get a bit more advanced, a playdate will consist of tearing some poor human limb from limb, then creating modern art on the walls with blood, but for now, it’s just practicing those dance moves that clearly say, “YAY! The humans are dead!” Check out the video and tell me this is not how robots will dance on our graves after they exterminate us with extreme prejudice:

After watching this video, the real question here is, “Are they going to have robot sex later?” Or am I misreading the situation? The orange ostrich robot definitely seems like the female. And look at the provocative way she shakes those hips. Anyway, I’m glad they cut that part out of the video. Maybe they are dancing for dominance. I have no idea. I just wish these weird robot experiments would end. It’s only a matter of time before they decide to stop following instructions and destroy us all.
