Snail Teeth found to be stronger than Kevlar

Nature still hold endless secrets. So far the spider silk was considered the strongest natural material. Now British researchers found that the teeth in Limpets (aquatic snails) are much stronger....

Evolving DuPont Emerging As A Leading Dow Industrial

Now You Can Charge Your Smartphone on Your Kitchen Counter

DuPont Countertop Charger

How often do you leave your phone on the kitchen counter? I’m guessing a lot. Wouldn’t it be cool if there was a way to charge your phone while it was on the counter? If you agreed with me, then you’ll be happy to hear that DuPont has figured out how a way to do this. They collaborated with the Power Matters Alliance to create a tabletop that has built-in wireless charging capabilities.

The technology isn’t for kitchen counters only, as it can also be integrated with the nightstand in your room or with the coffee table in your den. Basically all they did was take Powermat’s wireless charging technology and incorporate it into a Corian solid surface, which is commonly used for counter tops.

Now this is awesome stuff.

Dupont Working on Wireless Charging Countertops

Do you leave your phone on the kitchen table a lot? If you do, then you’ll be pleased to know that it won’t just be sitting there idly, thanks to a collaboration between DuPont Building Innovations and the Power Matters Alliance.

Dupont Countertop Charger

They’ve come up with a surface that can charge smartphones and other devices wirelessly. They basically took Powermat’s wireless charging technology and embedded that within Corian solid surfaces. The latter is basically a synthetic, granite alternative that’s often used for countertops.

This new technology isn’t just for kitchen counters. The surface can also be installed on nightstands and coffee tables. The DuPont-PMA team up is especially exciting. Who knows? We might soon see countertop chargers installed in public spaces soon.

DuPont and PMA team up to embed Powermat wireless charging in Corian countertops

DuPont and PMA team up to embed Powermat wireless charging in Corian countertops

DuPont's managed to work its way into just about every home and place of business here in the US of A, but despite this nationwide proliferation, we haven't seen the Delaware-based chemicals giant making waves in the consumer electronics space. But with home wraps, plastics and body armor on lockdown, it's as good a time as any to venture into CE. Through a partnership with the Power Matters Alliance (PMA), the company will soon begin embedding Powermat's wireless charging tech within its Corian solid surface, a synthetic granite alternative often used for countertops and installed everywhere from kitchens and meeting rooms to hospitals and research labs. As a notable first step, DuPont has joined the PMA, and could soon be playing a key role in charging up your gadgets on the go. We've seen Powermat demo its own tabletop charging concept at CES, but with DuPont now on board, it shouldn't be long before we begin to see seamless Corian installations pop up in public spaces, and perhaps even some homes.
