Bethesda says ‘Elder Scrolls 6’ details are years away

Almost two years after it announced the game, you might think Bethesda is ready to share more information about its latest mainline Elder Scrolls project. But that would be a wrong assumption. Prompted by a fan over the weekend, Bethesda senior vice...

Bethesda stops work on ‘The Elder Scrolls: Legends’

It's not a good time for card battle games, apparently. Bethesda has put all The Elder Scrolls: Legends development "on hold" for an indefinite amount of time, effectively canceling both the console version and a planned card set. The game will sti...

DIY Elder Scroll Replica: A Cheap Way to Go Insane

DIY Prop Shop’s latest project is a replica of the titular artifact in Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls games. This isn’t for newbie makers, but all of the materials are easily found online or in hardware stores and art or crafts supply stores. So summon your housecarl and head to your workbench.

The replica’s main components are a vinyl window shade, a PVC pipe and banister tops, though you’ll also need a sheet of thermoplastic, lots of spray paint, some epoxy, a pencil, a pastel crayon, and some fake gems. If you’re going to use thermoplastic you’ll obviously need a heat gun, but otherwise all you need for this project is a saw, a drill and a screwdriver.

I bet the folks at the Cult of the Ancestor Moth would lose their minds if they found out that the prophecies were doodles on a window shade.

Elder Scrolls-themed Basement Makes Your Room Look Like Lund’s Hut

You may know comic book artist Tyler Kirkham from his work on both Marvel and DC titles. Now he’ll be famous for something else: his house’s Elder Scrolls-themed basement, which he and his dad – who’s a contractor – have been working on for over two years now.

According to Barcroft, so far Tyler has spent over $50,000 (USD) converting and furnishing the 1500sq.ft. basement. Thankfully his wife Jill is mostly cool with it. Some of that jaw dropping cost went to the props: swords, suits of armor, fake potions and such. But the largest single expense for Tyler’s man cave is probably the $20,000 home cinema. I’m pretty sure there’s a Skyrim mod for that.

Is it just me, or does this reek of a veiled promotion for Elder Scrolls Online? It would be a shame if it that turned out to be the case. Tyler doesn’t look like he’s faking his love for the games, but there’s a bit of a push for ESO here.

The Elder Scrolls V Metro System Map: Cities: Skyrim

How’s this for a possible Skyrim mod? Redditor Marcus Hynes aka sylpheed made a map of the region in the style of the London Tube map. There appear to be a few impractical routes – how is the blue-green line supposed to work? – but what the heck, this makes the Thomas the Tank Engine mod even more awesome.

Take the browser train to Etsy station to order high-resolution files of Marcus’ map for about $7 (USD).

The Elder Scrolls V Mod to Add the Rest of Tamriel: Beyond Skyrim

Shortly after The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released, a group of fans started working on a massive addition for the game. It’s called Beyond Skyrim, an effort to add Tamriel’s other provinces to TES V: Skyrim. But it’s not just a geographical addition – Beyond Skyrim hopes to fill those provinces with new characters, items, quests and even music.

Here’s the group’s third anniversary trailer, which shows off their take on Cyrodiil, High Rock, Hammerfell and Roscrea:

Fast travel to the Beyond Skyrim forums to learn more about the project. If you want to contribute, the group is looking for all the help they can get – artists, level designers, voice actors etc. – but of course you’ll have to prove your skills first before they bring you in. A goal this ambitious certainly has the odds going against it, but as long as contributors are having fun then we can’t really fault them for trying can we?
