‘Doom Eternal’ and other Bethesda games are coming to Steam

The rise of proprietary game launchers appears to be getting worse, but there's at least one company headed in the opposite direction. Bethesda has announced that its upcoming games will be available through Steam, including Doom Eternal, Rage 2, Wo...

Bethesda Will Ship Canvas Bags For Fallout 76 Power Armor Edition

Last month, when fans purchased Bethesda’s Fallout 76 Power Armor Edition they felt cheated when they ended up getting a cheap nylon bag instead of the canvas bag that was initially promised. Eventually, the company responded and apologized, offering to give 500 Atoms for consumers. The problem is 500 Atoms doesn’t get you squat in the game. But now apparently, the company is going to take care of these customers.

Bethesda sent out a tweet announcing that they would be sending canvas bags to those who purchased the special edition of Fallout 76. Just visit this link and you can log in to your Bethesda account. After that just fill out information regarding your purchase so you can get your better bag.

It sounds like the nicer bags will be shipping in early 2019. It’s nice to see Bethesda taking care of their customers finally because the bag people got was super cheap compared to what they were promised.

Fallout 76 Gets Its First Post-Launch Update with Lots of Bug Fixes

Fallout 76 is here, but there’s a big divide among fans. Some like this new take on the franchise, while others feel disappointed, even betrayed. Many wanted a simple new Fallout game, not a new version that does something different. Well, Bethesda can always improve it with updates. Speaking of which, the first post-launch update is here, and it’s massive. The patched game weighs in at a whopping 47GB, which is nearly as big as the entire game. You’ll need plenty of bandwidth to grab this update, so if you plan on playing over Thanksgiving, you’d better start downloading today.

Bethesda says that future patches will vary in size, but they should not be as big as this one is. They made a few changes to fix in-game freezes and performance issues, and to bolster the stability of the servers and the game client. Other fixes address a wide range of things, from enemies and crafting to quests and more. Respawning after being killed in PVP combat will now clear your hostile status. There are also fixes to PVP’s Seek Revenge mechanic, regarding displaying accurate Cap rewards when either hunting down a player who killed you or killing a player who is seeking revenge.

There have also been some changes to crafting and workshops like preventing blueprints from breaking into smaller parts when you log out. A bug that would return items to a broken state after they had been fixed has also been addressed. You can read the full list of patch notes on the Bethesda website.

So no matter what you think of the game, it’s good to hear that Bethesda is already working to make it better.

GameStop Fallout 76 Discounts for Black Friday Will Loot your Vault

Fallout 76 hasn’t exactly torn up the world with positive reviews, but Bethesda is working on fixing some of the issues. We assume they can’t make it an offline single player game for gamers who hate online titles, but we can dream. The Black Friday deal on the game at GameStop might move you to spend some caps even if you are on the fence.

The standard edition of Fallout 76 – normally priced at $60 – will be just $40 on Black Friday at GameStop. That price is in effect November 21, at 8 pm and will last through November 25.

If you want a fancier version of the game, the Tricentennial edition that is usually right at $80 will be discounted to $60. Frankly, there is nothing particularly useful in that upgraded version of the game with most of it being special customizations for power armor and weapons.

Fallout 76 Glowing Vault Boy Lamp Lights up the Wasteland

Celebrate Fallout 76 the right way by buying this glowing Vault Boy LED lamp and displaying it proudly in your own personal vault. It glows a nice radioactive green like it is powered from 100 radroaches, so it will make you feel like you are right in the game.

The USB-powered lamp doesn’t appear to give off a ton of light so, you probably won’t be able to read with it, but it does set the Fallout mood nicely. It’s perfect for your desk, and is a good reminder to always prepare for the apocalypse. Anyway, it’s always nice to have a Vault Boy around giving you the thumbs up for a job well done.

So kick back, grab yourself a Nuka Cola and fire up the game, while bathed in the warm glow of this awesome lamp. Normally you should stay away from glowing green objects, boys and girls, but in this case I think it’s alright. And if I’m wrong? Well, you’ll probably get awesome superpowers. Or a nasty gross mutation of some sort. Could go either way honestly, but at least you have a chance at leveling up.

This official Fallout 76 lamp will cost you $40 and is available for preorder from Geekstore.

Fallout 76 Pip-Boy 2000 Mk VI Construction Kit Transports You to the Wasteland

We don’t know too much about Fallout 76 quite yet, but one thing we do know is that it’ll have a Pip-Boy 2000. What you are looking at is the official Fallout 76 Pip-Boy 2000 Mk VI Self-Assembly Construction Kit which is available to pre-order right this minute. Count your bottle caps and get yours now because these will sell quickly, even priced at $150.

This officially-licensed Fallout 76 Pip-Boy 2000 Mk VI replica gives you the components needed to build your own. It was designed using 3D geometry from none other than Bethesda’s design studio. You can use it for cosplay or just to display in your home. The details are really nice. In fact, the “buttons press, knobs turn, the radio dial ‘tunes’ and the holotape player ejects a holotape just like it does in the game.” Nice.

There are over 150 parts in the kit, but it is easy to assemble. I never thought I would be able to build my own Pip-Boy like some Vault Dweller. They say it will take you 1 to 2 hours to assemble it completely. Once you do build it you can go explore the wasteland that was once America in style. How else are you going to keep track of your inventory and stats? The kits should ship in November of 2018, but you’ll want to pre-order yours now from ThinkGeek before they are all sold out.

Fallout 76 Teaser Trailer: The Official Vault of the Tricentennial

This is the best news I’ve heard all day. A new Fallout game is coming! It all started with a livestream on Twitch that was a video of a Vault Boy bobblehead in front of a screen that featured Fallout’s “Please Stand By” alert. Eventually, that livestream revealed of a new game: Fallout 76.

We know almost nothing about it and yet I am still excited. We will learn more at Bethesda’s E3 press conference next month. Until then let’s all watch this teaser trailer endlessly for clues. The trailer is similar to the teasers for other Fallout games, but Fallout 76‘s title suggests that it won’t be part of the main series. The soundtrack may provide some clues though. It’s a cover of John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads”, so the game may be set in West Virginia or somewhere nearby.

It looks like the residents of Vault 76 just finished celebrating “Reclamation Day” too. We also hear a voiceover on a TV saying “When the fighting has stopped and the fallout has settled, you must rebuild.”

Word has it that the game will be an online multiplayer survival RPG with some base-building elements. The game will be launching for Xbox One, PS4, and PC, but no there’s been no mention of a release date yet.
