Water filtering pitcher concept wants you to slow down while pouring a drink

When you’re thirsty or you need to drink water, you just go to your ref, bring out the pitcher, or open a water bottle and just drink. You don’t really think about things like slowing down, mindfulness, staying healthy, or resting. You just need to quench your thirst or count the glasses of water that you drink. But actually if you think about it, drinking water can definitely be connected to all of that and can be your chance to take a break from your normal routine and take a few, deep breaths while drinking.

Designers: Krishna Pranav Vaddiparthi & Ria Shah

Osoi is a concept for a water filtering pitcher for Japanese tableware and lifestyle brand Kinto. The name of the product is the Japanese word for “slow” and its goal, aside from getting you to drink clean, filtered water, is to slow down while nourishing your body. The brand is the perfect inspiration as they are an advocate of using their products to “connect to life” or just taking a break from your work or studies even as you do something mundane.

The design of the pitcher itself uses several elements that represent what it means to slow down on a functional and aesthetic level. The pastel peach gradient represents joy but is also part of the water filtering process. Meanwhile, the spout, representing the water flow, lets you pour the water ever so slowly so you’re forced to slow down and have a sense of calm. The wooden handle is supposed to “celebrate the finer details” while the few wooden parts of the pitcher gives you a more tactile experience.

The Osoi pitcher render shows three different color hues: Blissful Blue, Gray Gardens, and Patient Peach. It’s a pretty interesting ideology to put on a mere pitcher but we all need to stop and smell the roses, or at least drink the water, every once in a while.

Wearable air purifier lets you enjoy life without worrying about airborne allergens

Although many people have only recently become more aware of the quality of the air they breathe, there are plenty more that have constantly been living with worry because of the potential threats hanging in the air. Different people have different types of allergies, but one of the most common can be triggered by invisible particles that enter our noses and lungs. And while it’s relatively easier to control the environment at home with air purifiers, although it isn’t completely foolproof, stepping into public spaces is pretty much a leap of faith for someone with allergies. Now you no longer have to give up the fun things in life with this innovative air purifier that discreetly hangs around your neck, letting you enjoy fresh and clean air wherever you are, whatever you’re doing.

Respiray Wear A+ – Effectively reduces airborne allergen particles by 99.9% thanks to its user-replaceable HEPA filters.

There are many ways to fight off airborne allergies these days. Some take medication either before or after exposure, but that is never a feasible or healthy long-term solution. Indoor air purifiers do work, but you need to be close to the machine for it to be really effective. Inside public spaces like cafes or stores, the options are even more limited, and while certain masks do work, they also limit your ability to drink, eat, and breathe freely. Respiray Wear A+ combines the best of both worlds, bringing the effectiveness of an indoor air purifier that still lets your smile shine.

The way it works is so simple you’d be left wondering why no one has capitalized on it before. The curved device hangs a bit below the front of your neck, where it gets out of the way of your face and looks nothing more than a fashionable neckband. Inside, however, the device draws in air, pushes it through a HEPA filter to remove harmful airborne allergens, and then releases the filtered air upward toward your mouth and nose. This, in effect, creates a “safe zone” around your face, leaving you free to breathe clean air without worrying about allergies. The device has been clinically tested and lab-verified to be effective in filtering out 99.9% of these allergens, promising a worry-free breath every time.

There are a small number of wearable air purifiers that make almost the same promises, but the Respiray Wear A+ outshines all of them with its convenience and style. You won’t look ridiculous with parts of your face or head always covered, and it doesn’t get in the way of actions such as talking, drinking, or even eating. Wear A+ leaves you free to enjoy life and smile and let others witness that happiness painted on your face.

Wear A+ also eases your worries about its longevity and usability. A built-in rechargeable battery means you can confidently use it anywhere, and replaceable HEPA filters that last for 3 months mean you can get as much use out of it for years. For only $74, you get the Respiray Wear A+, two HEPA filters, and a washable air filter, freeing you from the fears and anxieties of airborne allergens, leaving you free to enjoy with a bright smile that everyone can see.

The Wave Bookshelf’s shape-shifting design looks like TikTok’s Time Warp Scan filter brought to life!

You wouldn’t expect wood to have a fluid appearance, but with a few clever design tricks, Studio Lorier’s Wave Bookshelf manages to make something as stiff and rigid as wood look completely flexible! The secret lies in the bookshelf’s stepped construction and a joinery detail that allows each step to slide side by side. You can easily manipulate the bookshelf’s shape with your hands, creating a variety of shapes, before locking the bookshelf’s position using a single screw detail.

The Wave is made of individual pine wood elements that can be stacked together (or removed) to create a shelf that’s as high or as low as you want. With its ability to shapeshift, the Wave transcends furniture and becomes something more eye-catching and engaging. Its dynamism turns it into a piece of interactive art, allowing you as the user to also play a role in determining the shelf’s end-result! Perfect for adding a quirky touch to a boring space, or just placing in a space with odd/deviant dimensions.

This reusable face-mask comes with a built-in sensor that tells you when to change the filters

The design community was quick to rise to the challenge of helping the world overcome the Coronavirus, but this came at a cost. Human consumption of plastic tripled in 2020 with the use of surgical face-masks, so designer Ollie Butt decided to combat both the virus and the trail of plastic trash the pandemic left behind. Ollie’s Face Mask (although conceptual) paves the way forward for an aesthetic, efficient, reusable gas mask that can actively filter air coming from the outside, while continuously measuring the quality of the air inside the mask. Equipped with a circuit board on the inside and a bunch of sensors (including one for sensing humidity), and an outward-facing LED strip, the Reusable Face Mask looks and feels cutting-edge.

The LED strip plays a dual role, adding a futuristic flair to the device while also allowing the mask to tell you when to change your filters. The humidity sensor on the inside can detect when the filters need replacing, and a simple plug-in-plug-out design detail lets you swap out old filters for new ones. The reusable mask comes with a silicone seal around the mouth, allowing it to fit comfortably while creating a tight seal, and around-the-head straps ensure you can wear the mask for long hours without worrying about ear-fatigue.

Blanc Full-Face Mask and HEPA Filter: If Daft Punk Made PPE

Looking to protect yourself from airborne pathogens and being identified by Big Brother? Well, you’re in luck. With the Blanc full-face modular mask with HEPA filter. Nobody will know who, or WHAT you are, but they will know you aren’t getting sick. Um, did we just pass a robot on the street?

Having already raised over $400,000 on Kickstarter, the Blanc is now looking for another round of crowdfunding on Indigogo, with a basic mask starting at $99, and one with an extra set of filters and your choice of colored front panels for $124. Obviously, with a 360-degree seal around your face to ensure you only breathe through the HEPA filters, these are not masks for the people who couldn’t be bothered to wear even a fabric mask in public. No, these are for people who WANT to wear a mask and don’t want anybody to be able to identify them, AKA superheroes, supervillains, low-level criminals, and weirdos.

The masks are advertised as being able to help a wearer “highlight their personal style,” which, from what I could gather from the promotional materials, is limited to what color exterior panels you choose. Obviously, I’ll be the Blue Ranger, then we’ll just need Yellow, Red, Pink, Black, and Green Rangers to form Megazord and finally put an end to Rita Repulsa.
