Man Builds Custom Fish Tank Stroller to Take His Goldfish on Walks

Taiwanese Youtuber Huang Xiaojie had a dream: a dream of taking his beloved goldfish for walks around town with him. So what did he do? He built himself a custom fish tank stroller, of course! I think we can all agree it was the logical decision and way better than just filling a backpack with water and hoping for the best.

The stroller consists of a sturdy metal chassis that holds a cylindrical acrylic tube for the fish, with an integrated filter system, oxygen pump, AND under-tank light for showing off his fish at night. How about that! Just make sure you don’t push them past any seafood restaurants and traumatize them.

I swear, the things people do for their pets. Take me, for instance – I sleep dangling off the side of a king-size bed because my two 14-pound dogs like to starfish right in the middle of it. Remember: healthy relationships are all about compromise. I just had no idea I would be the one doing all the compromising.

Fish feeds plant feeds fish

The Home Aquaponics Fish Tank creates a wonderful self-sustaining ecosystem where an aquarium and terrarium live off each other’s waste, beautifully displaying the relationship between flora and fauna.

The system creates a closed loop where the fish waste becomes a natural fertilizer for the plants, who in turn clean the aquarium, providing the fish with pristine filtered water. While the fish tank doesn’t ever need to be cleaned (thanks to the aquaponics system), the fish needs to be fed occasionally and the tank comes with a supply of fish food.

Not just a wonderful addition to a living room or even school, the Home Aquaponics Fish Tank can serve as your own mini-kitchen garden too! Available with its own set of organic seeds, you can grow sprouts and herbs of your own to use in your meals… effectively introducing humans into this beautiful mini-ecosystem!

Not Your Average Fishbowl

watergarden_01

The 2nd generation Water Garden puts aquaponics within reach for urban dwellers who want to enjoy fresh herbs and fishy friends! This self-cleaning, auto-feeding fish tank requires almost no maintenance, meaning you get maximum benefits of gardening without much work!

So… how does it work?! Well, the fish excrete ammonia that would become toxic to the fish in a regular fish bowl. In the Water Garden, the ammonia-rich waste is pumped up to the grow bed and absorbed by the plants, helping them grow twice as fast as in traditional farming! The clean water is then filtered back to the tank, creating a low-maintenance, self-cleaning cycle to foster a healthy fish and herb garden.

Fish Controls Its Own Robotic Fish Tank

This is strange and wrong on so many levels. This fish is driving around in and controlling its own aquarium. Has it caught on to what is happening? And if so, will it eventually want a mech suit so it can destroy us all?

I’m not sure why I find this so unsettling, but I do. Think about it. This fish is moving around in and driving it’s own little ocean that it can never reach the edge of. The speed and direction of the robot tank are determined by the position of the fish relative to the middle of the tank, so it changes as the fish swims around. Creepy. This would be like you taking your hometown with you as you travel.

The robot was built by a group of friends for Build18 at Carnegie Mellon University. Just don’t let it near a mech suit!

The Best Fish Tank Ever. Period.

It’s called Avo and it’s the first truly self-maintaining tank! Its unique filtration system creates a balanced ecosystem where the plants, fish and bacteria work together and thrive. It’s so effective in fact, the prototype has been going strong for 18 months without a cleaning and still has healthy fish, plants and clear, clean water! Lots of extras, including a discreet heater, magnetic color-changing light, and modular plant pods make it not only the easiest for owners to care for, but the happiest place for fish! The vid is a MUST-WATCH so hit the jump!

LEGO Super Mario Bros. Aquarium: Your Princess Is in Another Tank

Kelsey Kronmiller and her boyfriend recently made this custom Super Mario Bros. level themed fish tank, and it’s totally awesome. They were inspired by this one. Surprisingly neither one is based on the underwater level – which is too bad. Fish love warp pipes.

Most of it the landscape is made using LEGO bricks. Any fish would love to swim around in this. Maybe save a fish Princess. Fight a fat fish named Flounder. Come to think of it, this would just be too much work for a fish. Fish just like to lazily swim around for like five days and then float to the top, laying on their side.

Of course, maybe that’s just me. Not great with fish or plants.

Pac-Man Fish Tank: Drivin’ Fish Crazy

Wanna give your fish a good time and give them a break from their boring lives? Replace their ordinary tank with this Pac-Man maze tank. This aquarium will keep their minds occupied. It may even give them Pac-Man fever and drive them crazy.

This fish tank was built by Instructables member antoniraj. It was created with 5 mm sheets of glass for the outside and 2 mm sheets for the maze, then it was all sealed together with Araldite epoxy glue. Dots and power pellets are optional.

If you decide to build one, you’ll just need a yellow fish for Pac-Man and the appropriately colored fish-ghosts. Unfortunately, I’m not sure how long your fish will last in this tank, but it is a fun project.

Aquarium Bed Lets you Sleep with the Fishes Every Night

Some fish lovers go all out with some pretty elaborate aquariums, but what if you never ever want to be apart from your fish. Well, you can always sleep with the fishes, and this aquarium bed is a pretty neat way to do that.

aquarium bedThis 650 gallon fish tank that rests just above your head while you sleep. Is that comforting or not? I personally would never trust any 650 gallon tank above me ever, but that’s just me. This amazing tank was created by Acrylic Tank Manufacturing for Jamestown, North Carolina’s Furnitureland South and was featured on an episode of Animal Planet’s Tanked.

If you want one like this, it will cost you about $12,000 for the privilege of sleeping under this thing, but if you really love fish it is probably well worth it. You might finally find Nemo even.

It’s Easy to Find Nemo in This World Map Aquarium

Forget boring rectangular aquariums or round goldfish bowls that are like a one bedroom apartment for fish. The World Map Aquarium lets your fish tour the world without leaving your living room.
fish tank world 1Track their progress as they journey around all of the continents, traveling the world. This is an awesome aquarium, but that’s not all it is. It is also a coffee table. It’s easy to see why designer Takuro Yamamoto won a TIFF Award for this beautifully designed fish tank.

fish tank world 2

As you can see it’s made from clear lucite that’s been cut into the shape of the continents. The fish don’t know any better, they just think that they have the whole world to swim around in now. Though I imagine you would scare them everytime you set your coffee cup on this thing.
