This fitness system brings the gym to your living room with a virtual coach and IKEA-inspired aesthetics!

Floe is a fully stocked home gym system that comes with everything from weight training accessories to virtual coaching features to bring the convenience of a private gym to the comfort of your living room.

The pandemic changed the at-home fitness game forever. Stuck at home during quarantine, fitness was at forefront of our minds. Without access to public or private gyms, our homes transformed into temporary fitness centers. Our living rooms, basements, and offices became multipurpose rooms filled with a mix of work desks, kettlebells, smart televisions, and yoga mats. Consolidating all of our fitness needs into a single product, Australian design group Blue Sky created Floe Fit, an at-home fitness system that has it all, including virtual coaching.

Recognized by Good Design for 2021’s Sport and Lifestyle category, Floe appears as a simple, backless bench, but hidden storage compartments reveal much more. Stocked with everything you might need in the gym, including a yoga mat, foam roller, kettlebell, and medicine ball, Floe even comes with a virtual coaching feature similar to the services found on Peloton. Equipped with an extendable viewing stand and iPad, Floe users can follow along with programmed workouts in the comfort of their own homes. From yoga to weight training, Floe offers it all and transforms back into an inconspicuous entryway bench once the sweat session ends.

Featuring hidden storage compartments and slide-out drawers, Floe looks like any other piece of furniture during the day, adapting nicely to any living room or office. Then, when the need for movement starts to itch, Floe instantly turns into your personal home gym, providing you with everything you might need for a good sweat. From virtual training to weight training accessories, Floe’s winning the at-home fitness game.

This tiny portable home fitness kit is the size of a water bottle and holds everything you need for a full-body workout!

Even with gyms opening back up around the world, the home fitness industry has seen a total overhaul in design as a result of the pandemic. Prioritizing versatility and portability over bulky equipment and monthly memberships, the home fitness industry of today focuses on modular design and compact construction. Introducing their own pair of at-home workout kits, Stel Design unveiled AIIR, a portable exercise system designed for the era of accessibility.

Developed from a collaboration between personal trainers and product designers, AIIR was designed to reduce joint stress and promote healthy posture. Contained within an 8.5″ x 6″ travel case, AIIR Flow is the smaller of the two workout kits and comes with two durable, carbon-steel push-up bars so you can get an arm and chest workout anywhere. The push-up bars come with spring-loaded, folding supports that dislodge from and fold inside both ends of each handle for ultimate portability. The push-up bars pack down to the size of a water bottle and can support up to 300lbs when in use. Each handle was designed to be ergonomic and promote healthy posture through a slightly inclined and elevated build.

AIIR’s full-body workout kit called Line includes the same push-up bars that come with Flow, in addition to non-scratch floor sliders, door-mountable bands, and adjustable foot straps. While Flow focuses on developing the upper arm and chest, AIIR Line provides the necessary equipment for a full-body workout. Stored within an 8.5” x 6” x 2.5” travel case, AIIR Line’s push-up bars are also made from carbon steel to ensure durability, while the straps are woven from webbing that can support up to 350lbs.

Disguised as furniture, these simple pieces doubles as fitness equipment for working out from home

If anything, this past year has shown us that the possibilities are endless when it comes to home fitness. With a little creativity, cinder blocks transform into dumbbells, stacks of books become kettlebells, and packed backpacks can work as weights for leg raises. Since cinder blocks don’t exactly make for the most eye-catching pieces of interior design, Japanese sports brand Mizuno released a line of home furniture that doubles as exercise equipment, like stools that use resistance pumps for impromptu squat sessions.

Presented as a cushioned coffee table with a rich hardwood top, the Le Coeur table also functions as a shoulder-stretching device. Two knobs punctuate the center of La Coeur’s top surface and work as grips for the table’s top surface to rotate, loosening up your shoulder muscles the same way arm circles warm them up. Then, when the stretching is through, the coffee table remains a functional piece of chic home furniture that blends into most living spaces with its ash-gray padding. Similarly, Mizuno’s Le Moignon poses as an inconspicuous ottoman with foot straps lining its sides that morph the furniture into a weight for leg raises and thigh crunches, or a stretching device for your feet and toes.

Sporting a minimalist color scheme and cushioning, La Coeur and Le Moignon make up two pieces for Mizuno’s larger Healthy Interior home furniture line. In addition to the ottoman and coffee table, Mizuno’s new sports line consists of Ringretch, a chair cushion that becomes an exercise ring for strength-resistance training, Abs Pulule, or a cushioned seat that trains your core, recalibrating your sacrum and the back of your pelvis, as well as Les Plie Squat, a minimalist office stool that enacts a central resistance pump for squatting.

Made up of more than six different pieces, Mizuno’s new healthy furniture line including a coffee table, ottoman, floor seat, office stool, chair cushion, and weighted hand pillows.

Le Coeur presents as a coffee table that doubles as a shoulder-stretching device.

Le Moignon functions as an ottoman as well as a weight for leg raises and stretching.

Ringretch functions as a chair cushion that transforms into a weight for thigh and core-focused exercises.

The Pulule works as a cushion for sitting on the floor as well as a trainer to strengthen the core and back muscles.

Les Plie is first an office stool that uses a central resistance pump for vertical squatting.

This Nike-inspired integrated smart fitness system gives at-home gym workouts the boost it needs!

There have been some pretty innovative design solutions for home gyms in the age of COVID-19, ranging from adaptive gym modules that utilize smart technology for instruction to more discreet gym equipment that disguises as home furniture. While most of us are staying at home for these workouts, ensuring we all have the equipment needed can still get messy and some of us have neighbors living below and next to us, so we have to compromise when it comes to how loud we get. Swift Creatives, a Scandinavian design studio located in Aarhus, Denmark, recently debuted Smart Fitness, an integrated smart workout system that equips your home workout with all the gym-related accessories you might need.

The team at Swift Creatives got inspired by Nike and designed Smart Fitness for athletes at every level of any given sport to have a single system supplied with five smart workout accessories: a foam roller that doubles as a speaker, weighted jump rope, headphones, and water bottle. Foam rollers are a Godsend and essential for use following a heavy workout. Designed to help relieve muscle tension, increase your joint range of motion, and promote blood flow – foam rolling is an athlete’s bread and butter. Since foam rollers are supposed to be firm for purpose and by design, Swift Creatives took the opportunity to enclose a speaker inside the heavy-duty foam so that music can play while rolling.

The included jump rope is balanced and customizable for different workout weights and athlete heights. The jump rope’s cables can be switched out to either lighten the lift or load it on. Additionally, a built-in counter and timer keep track of every rope session so you won’t ever lose count. With integrated music connectivity, Smart Fitness can link up each workout accessory, like the breathable smart headphones, to your smartphone or smartwatch so that you can easily play music from your preferred streaming platform. Bringing its own unique edge to the workout, Smart Fitness’s magnetic water bottle also comes equipped with smart control switches that activate a UV-C LED light cleaning cycle so you can keep your focus on the workout.
