This R/C Turkey Has Four-wheel Drive

It’s Thanksgiving day, and there’s no better way to celebrate the holiday than with some delicious, stuffed turkey. And while you might yours stuffed with cornbread and celery, I like mine stuffed with lithium-ion batteries, motors, and wires. Yep, what you’re looking at is an off-road-ready turkey on wheels.

This crazy turkey on wheels was built by Wayne Stang back in 2012 as a decoy to attract a real turkey that he and his family could enjoy at the dinner table. The Robo Turkey rides atop the drivetrain and suspension of a Mad Torque Rock Crawler truck, making it capable of handling some seriously rugged terrain too. Apparently, the wheeled bird has been quite successful at luring in real birds, too.

If you don’t feel like building your own R/C turkey, it turns out that Boeckmann Decoys actually makes one you can buy right off the shelf, called the Mobo Gobbler:

Stormtrooper Vision Test Tries to Get to the Bottom of Things

Have you ever wondered why Stormtroopers can’t hit the broad side of a barn with their blasters? Perhaps they’re not getting enough Vitamin C? Or is it that the lenses of their helmets distort their vision? Maybe they just all have bad eyesight and need glasses. This hilarious painting from artist Travis Chapman is going with the latter view of things.

This one-of-a-kind original 24″ x 24″ acrylic painting is available for sale on Etsy for $700, and features an image of a stormtrooper as he sits for a vision test at the Empire’s designated optometrist, as the eye doc tries to figure out how to correct the soldier’s eyesight. Is this one better? Or this one? 1 or 2? 2 or 3? Better… or better?

Perhaps if all of the stormtroopers went through a proper eye exam and got contacts, they would have done so much better, and taken down that pesky rebellion back when they first tried to get their hands on the Death Star plans.

Pink Coffin Pool Float Is for the Cheerful Goth

What do you do if you’re into the goth scene and your friends invite you to the beach? Finding a black swimsuit wouldn’t be an issue, but I’m not sure you’re allowed to walk around with a tan. Fortunately, we have your fix.

This pink coffin pool float would be perfect for the for upbeat nihilists wanting to be around friends, outdoors, near the water, in the summertime. Black would be a better color choice, but the pink will make you look more cheerful.

The lid is removable so someone can float next to you should they desire. Or you can climb into the coffin and shut the top to keep your pasty complexion intact. It’s not cheap at $99, but it beats whipping your own up with pool noodles, duct tape, and cheap rafts from Walmart.

Robotic Comedy Duo Use AI to Perform Their Routine

AIchan and GONta are the world’s latest comedy duo. These two funny robots were created by a lab at Japan’s Konan University and use an AI program to respond to one another and tell jokes. They do Japanese stand-up comedy routines, which usually involves a “straight man” and a “funny man” who trade jokes back and forth based on misunderstandings, puns, gags, and wordplay. You know, like Abbot and Costello, Laurel and Hardy, and other classic acts who bring the funny.

One is even tall while the other is short and fat. Classic comedy formula there. The robots use an AI program to search for information on topics and spontaneously put together their show. That AI also no doubt will make them divas as their stardom grows. Now, all we need is a robot agent that will take 10% of their power for every gig it books.

Are they funny? I have no idea since I don’t speak Japanese. Perhaps one of our readers can tell us. They don’t look all that funny to me. I hope they can at least clean the floor like a Roomba while they are doing their show. Funny or not, my floors need to be cleaned. And that ain’t no joke.

Gavin Belson Signature Edition Box 3 Gets Real

The HBO series Silicon Valley is one of my favorite comedies on TV. It’s a hilarious take on the software and hardware industries, and the crazy stuff that happens in pursuit of funding and customers. Among the show’s colorful characters is Gavin Belson, the egotistical CEO of Hooli – a corporate buffoon who epitomizes the Peter Principle.

Among his many idiotic decisions was the creation of a piece of server hardware embellished with his own signature. But since his handwriting was horrible, they went with an employee submission instead. It just happened to resemble a cartoon drawing of male genitalia. Now, a fan of the show has replicated the Hooli Gavin Belson Signature Edition Box 3 for his own custom computer system.

Builder Ben Hoad created this custom version of the iconic server as a usable ITX-compatible case for a small form-factor PC. After thinking he’d build the whole thing from scratch, he came upon the Silverstone ML08, which offered the perfect base for his project.

Ben still had to do lots of customization to replicate the look of the on-screen prop, including a custom front, and of course Belson’s iconic green backlit signature. Kudos to Ben for a great build that’s both useful and inappropriate; two terms I often use to describe myself.

The Lunch Feeder Rube Goldberg Machine Feeds You a Meal

You know how it is. You’re working hard at the office, and then you get hungry. But if you stop your work to get some food, your productivity will suffer. What can you do? You either go hungry or fall behind on your tasks. Well, that’s not the case if you have The Lunch Feeder.

This Rube Goldberg machine is genius. It was built by Joseph of Joseph’s Machines and feeds him a four-course meal. Specifically a brussel sprout, hotdog with ketchup, asparagus spear, and soup. Now, this guy can work and eat at the same time like a productive worker ant.

Never forget to feed yourself again. And since we don’t have robots that will take care of that task for us, this is the next best thing. I mean, yeah, it’s a lot of work to put into something just to avoid falling behind in your work but nevermind that. It’s a machine that feeds you and that’s all that matters. Great job Joseph. Hopefully, that asparagus spear doesn’t poke you in the eye though.

Nest Hello Doorbell Bans The Batman

B.J. May has a Nest Hello Doorbell standing watch at his front door. He recently donned his favorite Batman t-shirt recently and stepped outside. Then, the Nest locked him out. He did what any tech-loving geek would do and opened the Nest app to see what the eff.

What he found was that rather than seeing his face, the Nest Doorbell locked onto the screaming, angry, ninja face of Batman on his shirt and said nope. Fortunately, B.J. was able to unlock the door using the app and get back into his home. The tweet here explains the event history. It’s pretty funny.

I often wonder why Batman is so angry all the time. I get that his mom and dad were killed years ago, but he is a billionaire ninja, so he has that going for him.

Dad Tries to Convince Son Why Harrison Ford is the Real Solo

Growing up in the ’80s meant each Christmas I asked for “all the Star Wars toys”… and sadly that never happened. Still, I had lots of that Star Wars stuff down to the sheets, comforter, and curtains in my room. I never had the Luke Skywalker action figure though because it was always sold out. One of my greatest parenting failures is that my daughter thinks the best Star Was Film is Episode III.

I’m not a huge fan of what has become of Star Wars over the last handful of films, and now with Solo, we’re starting to lose touch with the original actors who defined the franchise. If Disney continues to go where they’re going, it’s possible kids will have no idea who Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford were.

In this amusing video from School of Dad, Dad is having a tough time convincing his son that Harrison Ford is the one and only Han Solo. Sadly, things don’t go so well when he tries to persuade the kid that Ford is irreplaceable, and the youngster starts to think like a Hollywood executive.

I often wonder how George Lucas feels about what is happening to his iconic franchise. He’s probably just fine sitting on his throne made of stacked $100 bills wearing a Darth Vader mask.
