This AI-enabled smart camera is like the gym-version of Nintendo Wii

Instead of going to the gym and ‘meeting people’ (ugh), AIMOOV brings the comfort of a gym trainer to your house. Except there’s no trainer – it’s all AI! Designed to be what I can only describe as the world’s smallest gym instructor, AIMOOV is an artificially intelligent smart camera that aids your home workouts by tracking your progress and also correcting you when you’re exercising wrong. It works in real-time, syncs with your fitness-tracking apps, and simply needs to be plugged into a display like your TV to give you an AI-enhanced gym experience right in the comfort of your own home.

Plug the camera into your TV using the HDMI port and your AIMOOV is effectively set up. The camera’s AI can recognize different users, allowing you to create unique profiles and track your own progress on your own time, and it even registers gestures, allowing you to select or skip exercises, toggle between exercise types like Yoga and Pilates, or even pause when the going gets tough and you need a quick breather.

The pandemic created the perfect storm for home-based fitness, but with all the home gyms and tiny modular fitness devices we’ve covered, the one serious flaw that’s remained is the lack of supervision. The one caveat with most home gyms is the absence of an expert telling you whether you’re exercising properly or not – a feature that’s incredibly important if you A. want to stay safe, and B. want to see results. AIMOOV does this by using AI which can track your body movements to see if you’re maintaining the right form and posture. The AI provides feedback in real-time, while also counting your reps just the way a human instructor would. AIMOOV’s app provides a detailed breakdown of your workout, while also connecting to your fitness-app ecosystem (like Apple Health and Google Fit) to help it track your workouts. You can even connect your Spotify to the AIMOOV for a nice, pumping music-filled workout!

AIMOOV on your smartphone and smartwatch.

The entire device is roughly the size of half a soda can, giving a fair bit of credence to the fact that this might just be the world’s smallest gym instructor ever. The smart camera comes with an ultrawide-angle lens and Sony’s STARVIS imaging technology running on a Hexacore CPU. It pairs with your smartphone via Bluetooth 5.0, and stores data on the cloud in compliance with GDPR for user safety. For added security, the AIMOOV comes with a security cover that lets you physically block the camera when you don’t want it recording you. It doesn’t have a built-in microphone and runs entirely on USB-C (without a battery) so the smart cam is off when the power is off. The AIMOOV experience is split across its hardware (the camera) as well as its software (the app, AI, and training program catalogs). For a limited time, backers can grab the AIMOOV camera for €192 ($205) and receive a free lifetime subscription to the app and its ever-expanding catalog of exercises and virtual coaches.

AIMOOV smart camera turns any TV into your personal fitness trainer

Personal fitness at home has seen a rise in the past years, but despite the convenience of never having to go out to the gym, not everyone has been able to embrace this healthier lifestyle for various reasons. Those include the cost of home fitness equipment and subscriptions as well as doubts about the correctness of the exercises you’re doing. Just as you don’t really need expensive equipment to exercise at home, you might not also need a human trainer to always be looking over your shoulder, especially not with today’s technologies. Combining the latest innovations in imaging and AI, this smart camera is able to transform any TV into your home gym, complete with an intelligent coach that will nudge you a bit when your form is wrong, ensuring that you get the best workout even when you’re all alone at home.

There are actually very few reasons why we can’t exercise at home, at least not including whatever creative excuses our brains can come up with. Rarely do you need specialized equipment, especially when your own body or some pieces of furniture can be used to provide the necessary tools for that. The one valid concern on people’s minds would be the potential injury they might incur if they do the exercises right. Usually, you’d need a personal trainer to guide you through the proper movements, but thankfully, we now have AI for that as well.

AIMOOV is the combination of a camera that connects to any TV with an HDMI port and an AI that acts as your fitness coach. The system works so simply that it’s almost like magic, or at least the sci-fi magic of a futuristic smart house where a computer-generated coach exists on your TV. The simplicity of the camera, which is about the size of a soda can, belies the advanced technologies that lie inside. A Sony STARVIS sensor, for example, makes sure that you can use AIMOOV even when there’s little light in the room. It can connect to your smartphone and smartwatch to give you more insight into your fitness goals. And thanks to its privacy cover and the fact that it has no mic, you can always be assured of your privacy when you’re not using it.

The secret sauce of AIMOOV is, of course, in the AI trainer. It offers a wide range of workouts from professional coaches to match whatever fitness goals you might have. It then watches your every move so that it can correct your form when it detects that something is wrong, reducing the risk of injuries and optimizing your exercise efficiency. You can also control the whole program using gestures, so you won’t have to reach out for a remote control or phone in the middle of a workout. And when you’re in need of some morale boost, you can connect to your Spotify account and play your favorite music as you move to the beat.

AIMOOV on your smartphone and smartwatch.

Given what it offers, it might come as a shock that AIMOOV will only set you back around $204 for a Super Early Bird discount on Kickstarter. Not only does that land you the camera, which would normally cost around $315, you also get a free lifetime subscription that is equivalent to a $16 monthly value. With AIMOOV, you really have no more excuses not to stay fit and healthy at home. All you need is to dress up and be present and let the AI guide you to your best workout yet.

This motor-powered fitness machine can fit in bags or even a large pocket

There has been a great deal of interest in home fitness machines in the past few years, but that trend also made many of us painfully aware of how little space we might have in our homes or apartments. That situation is even more poignant for people who are always on the go yet want to retain a healthy and active lifestyle wherever they are. Of course, some people are also able to use this limitation as an excuse to skip a few workouts in the middle of the week, finding no place to set up any kind of exercise equipment in the middle of their office. But what if you could bring your gym equipment with you anywhere you go? That’s the proposition that this fitness machine in a box is making, with a solution that’s partly inspired by the latest innovations in robotics.

Designer: Unitree

Click Here to Buy Now: $159 $259 ($100 off). Hurry, less than 72 hours left! Raised over $520,000.

Unitree is a company better known for its robotics, particularly its quadruped robots, not unlike Boston Dynamic’s Spot. That, however, isn’t its only creation, and it has been able to apply the fruits of its inventions and research into something so unrelated but perhaps even more meaningful for regular people. That is the Unitree PUMP, a new kind of portable exercise machine that can replace almost all your gym equipment in training 90% of your muscle groups, whether at home, in the office, or in a hotel room.

At the heart of the PUMP is the robotics company’s unique motor system that can adjust its resistance up to 44lbs (20kg) to give you the most efficient workout, unlike your typical elastic resistance bands. You no longer have to suffer too much resistance or no resistance at all, allowing you to have a consistent pump every time you lift or pull. On a full charge, the motor can last 1,000 reps, and any USB-C power bank can extend your workout in a flash. When you work out, you generate energy that PUMP can convert into electricity. This electricity, in turn, can be used to charge other devices, such as your smartphone. With one press of the Power Generation button, you can turn the PUMP into a makeshift power bank for your mobile device.

Concentric Mode – You can customize resistance from 11 – 44lbs (5-20kg) and a ratio from 0-50%.

Eccentric Mode – Gives you more burn when you’re releasing the weight, giving your muscles more time under pressure.

Constant Mode – Adjust the resistance range from 4.4 – 44lbs (2-20kg). The resistance will be the same whether you’re pulling the rope out, or releasing it back in.

Chain Mode – Choose resistance from 4.4 – 44lbs (2-20kg), but it allows you to schedule resistance and let PUMP adjust resistance automatically while you train.

The best feature of the PUMP, however, is its size. At only 700g and 10cm wide, the box can easily fit in any bag or suitcase. It can even fit in a pocket if you have one large enough to hold it. It can also anchor to almost anything, from door frames to floor to even your foot. This simple configuration is already enough to support multiple exercises, like bicep curls, standing rows, squats, rows, and so much more. Additionally, PUMP offers four training modes, including concentric, eccentric, constant, and chain, each with its own resistance setting. And with just a few accessories, you can have your own space-saving rowing machine, exercise bar, or power rack. You really have fewer excuses to get pumping, no matter where you are.

The PUMP also has a few smarts, thanks to both the built-in controller inside the box as well as its companion smartphone app. In addition to recording your reps and calories burned, the PUMP app also features tutorials and training plans to guide you along your way to a healthier lifestyle. And for those who want a more interesting way to exercise, fitness games based on traditional weight training can add a bit of excitement and fun to your daily regimen.

With Unitree PUMP, you can live the active life you’ve always wanted, anywhere and anytime. Freed from the constraints of space, this innovative motor-powered device can take the place of multiple exercise equipment that takes up almost no space at all. For only $159, you can have your own personal gym in a bag, ready for you to work up a sweat when and where you want to.

This at-home spin bike combines an industrial-grade build with warm interior design cues

In collaboration with Kettle Sport, forthepeople designed a new at-home spin bike for users to ride along with Kettler Sport’s home fitness app.

Through the decades, technological advancements have completely redefined the home fitness industry. The 90s gave us prerecorded VHS tapes stocked with workouts to follow along on our televisions. Then, infomercials in the early 2000s had store shelves stocked with products like Six-Minute Abs! and Bowflex that we bought on the whim that we could really get a six-pack in just six minutes.

Designers: Kettler Sport x forthepeople

Since 1949, Kettler Sport has moved with the trends to help shape home fitness into the interactive, AI-operated industry that it is today. In collaboration with forthepeople, Kettler Sport unveiled their line of at-home spin bikes that users can ride while using Kettler Sport’s accompanying app.

Recent global events have pushed us deeper into our home spaces, prompting many of us to bring the industrial-grade workout equipment we’re used to in the gym into our homes. While having access to high-tech machinery is luxe, not all of us are cool with having a bionic two-wheeler in the living room. Designing Kettler Sport’s line of spin bikes meant that forthepeople had to merge the technical build of a reliable spin bike with the refinement of modern interior design cues.

“We helped Kettler rethink the fitness category through a brand and product language that brings equipment into the heart of the home–” the designers from forthepeople describe, “by combining performance cues with the warmth of living spaces.”

The resulting spin bike takes on a glossy, yet matte steel finish combined with curved elements that give the bike an approachable appeal. The bulk of the bike’s inner components is concealed within a black plastic encasement located in the center of the bike’s minimalist frame.

Describing the intersection between the fitness industry and interior design, forthepeople explain, “The bikes reference classic cycling frames and mix them with subtle furniture details, each in a set of colorways inspired by objects from around the home.” Finding the center of the intersection, Kettler Sport’s new line of spin bikes finds universal appeal through minimal framing and concealed components.

This tiny portable home fitness kit is the size of a water bottle and holds everything you need for a full-body workout!

Even with gyms opening back up around the world, the home fitness industry has seen a total overhaul in design as a result of the pandemic. Prioritizing versatility and portability over bulky equipment and monthly memberships, the home fitness industry of today focuses on modular design and compact construction. Introducing their own pair of at-home workout kits, Stel Design unveiled AIIR, a portable exercise system designed for the era of accessibility.

Developed from a collaboration between personal trainers and product designers, AIIR was designed to reduce joint stress and promote healthy posture. Contained within an 8.5″ x 6″ travel case, AIIR Flow is the smaller of the two workout kits and comes with two durable, carbon-steel push-up bars so you can get an arm and chest workout anywhere. The push-up bars come with spring-loaded, folding supports that dislodge from and fold inside both ends of each handle for ultimate portability. The push-up bars pack down to the size of a water bottle and can support up to 300lbs when in use. Each handle was designed to be ergonomic and promote healthy posture through a slightly inclined and elevated build.

AIIR’s full-body workout kit called Line includes the same push-up bars that come with Flow, in addition to non-scratch floor sliders, door-mountable bands, and adjustable foot straps. While Flow focuses on developing the upper arm and chest, AIIR Line provides the necessary equipment for a full-body workout. Stored within an 8.5” x 6” x 2.5” travel case, AIIR Line’s push-up bars are also made from carbon steel to ensure durability, while the straps are woven from webbing that can support up to 350lbs.

Disguised as furniture, these simple pieces doubles as fitness equipment for working out from home

If anything, this past year has shown us that the possibilities are endless when it comes to home fitness. With a little creativity, cinder blocks transform into dumbbells, stacks of books become kettlebells, and packed backpacks can work as weights for leg raises. Since cinder blocks don’t exactly make for the most eye-catching pieces of interior design, Japanese sports brand Mizuno released a line of home furniture that doubles as exercise equipment, like stools that use resistance pumps for impromptu squat sessions.

Presented as a cushioned coffee table with a rich hardwood top, the Le Coeur table also functions as a shoulder-stretching device. Two knobs punctuate the center of La Coeur’s top surface and work as grips for the table’s top surface to rotate, loosening up your shoulder muscles the same way arm circles warm them up. Then, when the stretching is through, the coffee table remains a functional piece of chic home furniture that blends into most living spaces with its ash-gray padding. Similarly, Mizuno’s Le Moignon poses as an inconspicuous ottoman with foot straps lining its sides that morph the furniture into a weight for leg raises and thigh crunches, or a stretching device for your feet and toes.

Sporting a minimalist color scheme and cushioning, La Coeur and Le Moignon make up two pieces for Mizuno’s larger Healthy Interior home furniture line. In addition to the ottoman and coffee table, Mizuno’s new sports line consists of Ringretch, a chair cushion that becomes an exercise ring for strength-resistance training, Abs Pulule, or a cushioned seat that trains your core, recalibrating your sacrum and the back of your pelvis, as well as Les Plie Squat, a minimalist office stool that enacts a central resistance pump for squatting.

Designer: Mizuno

Made up of more than six different pieces, Mizuno’s new healthy furniture line including a coffee table, ottoman, floor seat, office stool, chair cushion, and weighted hand pillows.

Le Coeur presents as a coffee table that doubles as a shoulder-stretching device.

Le Moignon functions as an ottoman as well as a weight for leg raises and stretching.

Ringretch functions as a chair cushion that transforms into a weight for thigh and core-focused exercises.

The Pulule works as a cushion for sitting on the floor as well as a trainer to strengthen the core and back muscles.

Les Plie is first an office stool that uses a central resistance pump for vertical squatting.

This boxing platform uses rhythm tech, like Dance Dance Revolution, to make workouts more challenging!

I’ve never enjoyed lifting weights – more dynamic sports like boxing and rowing have been my go-to fitness regimens through the years. But since quarantine ordered us into self-isolation, my workouts have consisted of a lot of running, running, and more running. I know I’m not the only one getting a little bored – I miss pounding sandbags and the trainers who’d scream boxing combos in my face. While I can’t wait for the day that in-person training sessions rev up again, new fitness designs like Liteboxer, a guided boxing platform, offer solutions that make sparring in the ring possible for home workouts.

Liteboxer is the only connected fitness platform currently on the market today that offers full-body boxing workouts equipped with Rhythm Technology and expert training. It’s like Dance Dance Revolution but for your fists. Built and shaped like a traditional treadmill, Liteboxer works once users stand atop the base platform, adjust the punch pad’s height as needed, and connect their personal smartphone or tablet devices to the built-in tablet shelf for engaging expert training. Opting for a more physically digital experience, Liteboxer’s instruction primarily takes place on the punch pad so you won’t spend your workouts looking at yet another screen.

Once users have connected their tablets to Liteboxer, music, also called ‘Punch Tracks,’ can be played so that boxers can punch in time with predetermined songs – this is where the patented Rhythm Technology steps in. Through the use of Rhythm Technology, Liteboxer syncs its software and larger systems with the given beat of a song. As the music plays for users, the punch pad’s force sensors light up with LED runway lights to indicate a given boxing combo. As users punch Liteboxer’s force sensors and work up a sweat, professional trainers offer tips and coaching through the user’s attached smartphone or tablet, which can either be connected to external speakers or Bluetooth.

Liteboxer was first thought of by Todd Dagres after returning home from the boxing ring only to feel slightly less enthused over his stationary sandbag compared to his time spent sparring with his friends. Liteboxer has been regularly compared to the ever-popular Peloton, that smart home-gym system that replaces physical training with a more digital experience, as well as Dance Dance Revolution, that old dancing video game that Lindsay Lohan crushed in 2004. While both seem to be reasonable comparisons, Liteboxer boasts the best from both, making for a first-of-its-kind boxing experience for your home gym.

This Nike-inspired integrated smart fitness system gives at-home gym workouts the boost it needs!

There have been some pretty innovative design solutions for home gyms in the age of COVID-19, ranging from adaptive gym modules that utilize smart technology for instruction to more discreet gym equipment that disguises as home furniture. While most of us are staying at home for these workouts, ensuring we all have the equipment needed can still get messy and some of us have neighbors living below and next to us, so we have to compromise when it comes to how loud we get. Swift Creatives, a Scandinavian design studio located in Aarhus, Denmark, recently debuted Smart Fitness, an integrated smart workout system that equips your home workout with all the gym-related accessories you might need.

The team at Swift Creatives got inspired by Nike and designed Smart Fitness for athletes at every level of any given sport to have a single system supplied with five smart workout accessories: a foam roller that doubles as a speaker, weighted jump rope, headphones, and water bottle. Foam rollers are a Godsend and essential for use following a heavy workout. Designed to help relieve muscle tension, increase your joint range of motion, and promote blood flow – foam rolling is an athlete’s bread and butter. Since foam rollers are supposed to be firm for purpose and by design, Swift Creatives took the opportunity to enclose a speaker inside the heavy-duty foam so that music can play while rolling.

The included jump rope is balanced and customizable for different workout weights and athlete heights. The jump rope’s cables can be switched out to either lighten the lift or load it on. Additionally, a built-in counter and timer keep track of every rope session so you won’t ever lose count. With integrated music connectivity, Smart Fitness can link up each workout accessory, like the breathable smart headphones, to your smartphone or smartwatch so that you can easily play music from your preferred streaming platform. Bringing its own unique edge to the workout, Smart Fitness’s magnetic water bottle also comes equipped with smart control switches that activate a UV-C LED light cleaning cycle so you can keep your focus on the workout.

This home workout machine merges the ease of minimal design and the functionality of classic gym gear!

Finding the right home fitness station is a lot like the story of Goldilocks. There are home exercise systems that don’t look like they belong in anyone’s home unless you’re the CEO of Equinox – too hard. There are the fitness stations that might sacrifice functionality for aesthetics, looking more like sofas than operative pieces of equipment – too soft. The new SlimBeam from NOHrD is that bowl of porridge – or, home cable station – that’s just right. SlimBeam is an elegant, multifunctional home cable machine that offers a wide array of workout options for users and its sleek, wooden body fits into any interior living space.

The cable machine comes with an incorporated pull-up bar, weights, accessory adapter, and plenty of different cord options for different weight exercises like tricep extensions or pushdowns. The designers at NOHrD made all of these exercise options available to users because cable machines are intended to target those deeper layer muscles that isolated weight training misses. SlimBeam’s body might be slim and minimal, but no functionality was sacrificed in the making of this cable machine. Standing at just over seven feet tall and 16 inches wide, SlimBeam offers cord extension of up to eight meters, giving users the chance to practice that golf swing or rowing stroke.

Additionally, SlimBeam makes it all possible with its butterfly swivel, which equips the cable machine with dual-side function and adaptive function for changing heights. Fit snug inside the wooden body, fourteen, rubberized weights are available for weight training and can be adjusting to decrease or increase the workout’s intensity. Finally, it wouldn’t be a fitness system for 2020 if it didn’t come with an app. Currently only available for Android, SlimBeam’s app displays the station’s pre-set weight along with the user’s repetition and range of motion and also provides instructional video for different workouts chosen in cooperation with sports scientists.

If you’re anything like me, you’d rather get a good sweat going in your own home than give into a monthly gym membership. Depending on your situation, however, bulky gym equipment and scattered dumbbells just might not comfortably fit into your space. SlimBeam swivels somewhere in the middle, offering everything from pull-ups to drive practice, something Goldilocks would approve. A home gym system that provides, but then, when necessary, can also hide – ah, just right.

Designer: NOHrD
