MagSafe Just Got A Whole Lot Better Thanks to this Ingenious New iPhone Case’s Design

As of writing this article, MagSafe only does two things – lets you attach a charger, or a wallet. The UPRO Ostand case gives your iPhone’s MagSafe feature a set of upgrades, including the ability to make your phone stand, hang, or stay securely in your hands while you click a selfie or browse TikTok. A winner of the iF Design Award, the UPRO Ostand looks like your average iPhone case in that it covers your smartphone, protecting it from bumps or drops… but right on the back is a familiar magnetic ring. However, this ring folds outwards, turning into an angle-adjustable stand as well as a ring holder for your iPhone, enabling one-hand use without worrying about your phone slipping and falling. It’s also magnetic, so you can still attach your MagSafe wallet or charger to it just like you would on your iPhone.

Apple’s absurd innovations always leave a money trail. The removal of the headphone jack was a necessary evil to help kickstart a $12 billion dollar AirPods business. The MagSafe feature was designed to build Apple’s charger business, and will result in the potential removal of the charging port on an iPhone. These strategies mean that Apple doesn’t innovate in multiple directions… but it graciously allows third parties to. The UPRO Ostand comes from the brilliant minds at TORRAS, who also invented the world’s first wearable air conditioner with built-in semiconductor plates that work like a mini fridge around your neck. The Ostand isn’t as dadgum fancy as that, but it does fall well in line with TORRAS’ approach to problem-solving – finding unique solutions that nobody ever managed to think of before.

The Ostand is a multipurpose case for your iPhone 12 and upward (as well as for your Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra) that protects your phone just like any good stand should. However, integrated into the stand’s sleek backplate is the O-shaped ring that aligns perfectly with the iPhone’s own MagSafe ring. At just over a millimeter thick, this aerospace-grade aluminum ring sits flush flat against the Ostand case when closed, but opens up when you need yourself a ring-holder or a stand to prop your phone up.

It opens a full 120°, while also rotating 360° within its circular hub (a feature that’s available in the UPRO Ostand Pro). When Retina and Retro Combine!

It’s lovely when new products pay homage to their predecessors. Take for instance the Elago W3 watch dock that makes the Apple watch look like a miniature Macintosh. There’s something both old and new about it, therefore appealing to our excitement for the future and its capabilities, as well as our love for the past, aka nostalgia. The Retroduck phone stand works on the same principle too, creating an unusually beautiful vintage CRT (cathode ray tube) inspired television out of your phone!

The Retroduck stand does something rather noteworthy. Phones are light, portable, and have a reputation of being multi-tasking devices. Televisions on the other hand are the exact opposite. When you dock your phone into the Retroduck, your perception of your phone instantly changes to that of a television, therefore allowing you to watch content on your phone’s screen with much more attention… as you would with a TV (rather than switching between apps, checking your social media, etc). Meet Sarvi Dock, A Fantastic Stand and Charger for iOS and Android Devices

There are many docks out there that can also charge your device while holding them in a comfortable to use position. Just when you think you have found the perfect one, you discover a major drawback, but thankfully, that’s not the case with the Sarvi Dock.

A product of Sarvi Designs, this dock overcomes one of the main problems of desk chargers: it works perfectly fine even if the iOS or Android device is in a case, no matter how thick that is. The case’s shape is also irrelevant, so it can be a metal or PC bumper, a silicone case, or even one of those leather book cases. Best of all, it even works when your phone is equipped with one of those extended battery packs. The only thing that matters is to have unrestricted access to the phone’s or tablet’s port.

iPhone stands are infinitely more fun if they’re made in Japan. This particular one called the Dancing Face Stand by Takara Tomy dances to the tune of whatever music you choose to play and features your face prominently on your phone’s screen. All you have to do is fire up its companion app called FaceSing, take a photo, choose and set the music, and then watch the bot-like stand do its thing.

Hit the break for a video that shows off the stand in action. It’s silly, it’s oddly adorable, and it’s a whole lot fun.

It will be available by the end of the month in Japan. So if you’ve got friends in the land of the rising now, then now is the time to hit them up and call in a favor.
