The Opportunity

The Manager, Product Design is responsible for managing and executing the hands-on design of comprehensive equipment and structural packaging projects within PepsiCo. Successful candidates will demonstrate superior ability to drive, from ideation to execution, quality design practice applied to three-dimensional products, managing the whole design and development process. Your work will be a mix of internal execution and collaboration with internal and external partners. Successful candidates possess outstanding technical knowledge, aesthetics sensibility, design skills in form-exploration, physical problem-solving and visual communication.

Responsibilities

Create Commercial Advantage:

•Developing innovative product design solutions to create business value for PepsiCo and its brands
•Applying new technologies or new design or brand principles in innovative product/process concepts, taking initiative to develop new products

Product Development:

•Generates creative design proposals (visions, scenarios/user journey, products) in order to visualize the desired output and share it with internal and external team members
•Translates insights and requirements identified into real actionable consumer-based product design proposals, leveraging an extraordinary ability to explore different design solutions and further develop them in 3D both virtual and physical prototyping
•Works comfortably with the engineering function and proactively produces solutions that take into account manufacturability and feasibility
•Responsible for driving to final design recommendations, decisions and design approval to enable execution/production phases from concept to launch

Design Project Management:

•Responsible for partnering across disciplines within PepsiCo and external suppliers to ensure design assets are developed and delivered with quality, value, and on-time
•Regularly reviews the status of projects with appropriate leadership to verify that Company and Division expectations are met
•Maintains flow of major technical and design contributions (e.g. experience design, material/product/process innovations)

Qualifications

•8+ years of deep product design and production experience (in a global and matrixed environment, and cross-industry experience)
•Undergraduate degree in Product/Industrial Design
•Solid experience in design development from concept to launch
•Expert in Adobe Creative Suite, 3D CAD modeling and rendering, form-factor exploration, great sketching ability, and modeling skills
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
•Deep understanding of engineering processes and product manufacturing capabilities
•Strong communicator with excellent presentation skills to be able to influence and sell in ideas clearly and with conviction across all levels
•Excellent, creative problem solving
•Advances and utilizes knowledge of technical, design, product, and market information

The Opportunity

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) team is seeking a talented and passionate Lead Product Designer to join our growing design and research studio. This full stack designer will have a significant impact on our business as they contribute and accelerate designs for the AWS Internet of Things product design team, working collaboratively with a strong design and product team. In addition, the lead product designer will be expected to be a design thought leader and mentor other designers, with the leadership of a small team of direct reports as part of the role immediately or in the short term.

Basic Qualifications Required

· 8+ years of industry experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar design-related role.
· 6+ years of experience working in direct collaboration with product leadership, development managers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
· Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), information systems, or other related design degree is required.
· Experience creating prototypes or wire-frames for complex web applications and/or workflows.
· An online portfolio demonstrating best practices in interaction design plus samples with a modern aesthetic is required to apply for this role. The portfolio should contain personas, journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes.

Basic Qualifications Required

· 10+ years of experience in digital design, with the most recent years including full stack end-to-end product design for enterprise products, ideally for niche userbases.
· Fluency in best practices for information architecture and design, as well as strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques.
· Demonstrated history of acquiring user data (e.g., conducting usability studies, performing user research) and creating personas and journey maps.
· Experience with UX design for complex workflows for technical customers.
· Experience working with stakeholders to plan and execute programs that are strategic in nature.
· Experience owning large-scale projects, communicating timelines, and executing independently.
· Experience designing and prototyping with tools such as Sketch, InVision, Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar.
· Ability to prototype in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
· Master’s degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or similar design related degree.

Independently contributes to multiple major new design programs, redesign programs or continuous improvement projects within the assigned business or function. Major Duties & Responsibilities:

Senior Interaction Designer primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– Plans and supports UX design workshops with stakeholders builds design artifacts necessary to conduct concept testing/usability testing and produces reports.
– Accountable for defining key user interface behaviors through the use of experience models, personas, storyboards, site maps, flow diagrams, wireframes, mockups, interactive prototypes, simulations, etc.
– Translate customer insights into tangible design deliverables. Thinks beyond boundaries to create design direction.
– Develops and maintains user interaction design guidelines as part of the 3M larger UX design system initiative.
– Develops and/or uses appropriate UX design and evaluation processes and/or efficiency and cost measurements to ensure that any design solution meets or exceeds defined needs and strategies.
– Willingness to be fearless about driving new ideas and finding beautiful and powerful ways to communicate them.

Basic Qualifications: 
– Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), interaction design, user experience design, digital media design, graphic design, visual design, communication design or industrial design
– Minimum of five (5) combined years of working experience in user experience design or interaction design with experiences in designing solutions for desktop, web and/or applications on a variety of platforms

Preferred Qualifications:
– M.S. in Design Strategy, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction or a related field or equivalent practical experience
– 7 years of experience as an interaction designer
– Ability to visualize data and complex concepts
– Experience designing complex and/or task-based applications
– Experience designing native applications for iOS and Android
– Experience with design research techniques to understand the customer (e.g., interviews, contextual inquiry, usability testing, card sorting)
– Ability to create interactive design prototypes in Axure, Sketch, Adobe XD, HTML/JS/CSS, or other tools
– Experience working collaboratively with other product managers and engineers in a variety of settings and strong communication skills with the ability to articulate positions and advocate designs
