This minimalist table-light distills the idea of a lamp into its most basic elements – a light, and a shade

Created to explore the relationship between Changhojis (paper doors found in traditional Asian homes) and lights, the Light Kyeol Series comes with a bulb and an interchangeable card-like shade that sits in front of the light source, diffusing it. The cards use a variety of paper types, including textured, colored, and handmade, to explore the way they disperse light.

The series features different lamp styles with the same concept of having a sheet of paper propped up or suspended in front of a light source. The lamp’s relatively dim, casting an ambient glow around the room, while the choice of paper definitely gives it its own flavor, bringing a slightly rustic appeal to the lamp’s design.

It’s difficult to correctly place the lamp’s design in a particular box. It’s a combination of minimalism, traditionalism, craft, and even a bit of steampunk. The lamp’s variants explore simple designs and shapes, experimenting with intersections and overlapping elements, and the lamp series’ construction uses a limited caché of materials, from brass and acrylic for the base and frame, and Korean paper for the shades.

A wall light that’s out of this world!

A child’s imagination is a powerful thing, so why not encourage this by surrounding them with sources of inspiration? The Mystic lamp carries a witty and characterful form that looks right at home within the playful surroundings of a child’s playroom. The quirky UFO gives the child an entirely new world to explore, where their imagination leads to limitless creating! The lighting emits as an eerie beam that gently illuminates the room! Operation is a simple as flicking a switch; a button located on the underside of the device makes the battery-operated light a breeze to turn on and off!

This Parthenon pillar inspired 360-degree air purifier brings a touch of Greek architecture to your home

The Pillars of Parthenon’s iconic stature can now be beautifully introduced into your living room, bringing with it the clean, healthy air that we deserve. Appropriately named after the Greek God of the West Wind, Zephyrus is a domestic air conditioning unit that absorbs fine dust from the air that surrounds it.

The pillar-like form isn’t only unique, but it also holds a functional benefit; the cylindrical footprint allows the unit to absorb particles from all sides, 360° degrees around itself, making it extremely efficient! In order for the simplistic design to not be interrupted, a minimalistic yet intuitive air condition indicator is positioned on the top surface of the device. This has been accompanied by a trio of buttons which each control the unit’s power, time-booking mode, and fan-speed!

The simplistic design continues on the inside, with a fuss-free and considered assembly process that allows for quick and hassle-less replacement of the filter.

Traveling is a wonderful past time, it allows our horizons to be broadened, alters our perspective of the world around us and creates memories that we can treasure for a lifetime to come. But it can also be incredibly daunting, especially if the destination is unfamiliar to us and the pressure to see everything that the place has to offer can become overwhelming. This is where BANDI comes into play!

BANDI is your very own personal tour guide, and it knows exactly where to go! This rather adorable robot can be summoned by the click of a button, and all you must do is follow the little red flag! The slanted top accommodates a large display that presents a map of the route to the user, engaging them in the journey.

This wonderful, little autonomous robot aims to eliminate the confusion that can come with navigating around an unfamiliar city and allows the user to focus on making those all-important memories instead!

The AR Headset that puts sound first

prism_ar_1

Jonggun Kim realizes something pretty important with AR and VR adoption. We’re less likely to adopt it if it’s alien to our current lifestyle. No one currently carries (or needs to carry) a VR or AR headset with them so the only way to make them more widespread is to actively integrate them into one’s way of living.

No one carries headsets around with them, but there’s a large portion of the population that carries headphones with them. Realizing that, the Prism is an AR headset that transforms into an innocuous pair of headphones. With a HUD that slides upwards and downwards, you can turn the Prism from an immersive audio-visual AR experience, to a pair of headphones. Giving you the power to switch between modes, the Prism does something clever by making you actively adopt one technology by providing you with an alternative that seems more acceptable and commonplace. The headphones get used pretty much every day, while the Prism weans you onto AR by constantly being an available option that’s just one HUD-swivel away!
