Star Wars Landspeeder Ride-On Children’s Toy Modded with Jet Engine

Because almost every mode of transportation is improved with more horsepower, inventor and YouTuber Joel Creates replaced the pathetically underpowered 12-volt motors of a children’s Star Wars Landspeeder toy with a small jet engine. And, I think I speak for every speed-lover here when I say, where was this when I was a kid? Also, where the heck was the Bigfoot Power Wheels that was on the top of my birthday list every year?

The modding included locking the back wheels in place to prevent the landspeeder from only doing donuts and adding an R/C controller so the person riding in it (or somebody else you trust with your safety) can steer. Now that looks like fun. I wish my friends did fun stuff like this on weekends. Or maybe they do, and they just don’t invite me.

I was just thinking of adding a jet engine to my nephew’s Radio Flyer wagon; now, I can show this to my sister as a proof of concept. Will she actually let me add the engine? Of course not, but that won’t stop me from telling my nephew I was going to, but his mom wouldn’t let me. I really hope he takes that into consideration while casting his ballot for World’s Greatest Uncle.

Intricate LEGO version of Luke Sykwalker’s Landspeeder arrives for Star Wars fans

The ultimate LEGO version of the Luke Skywalker’s X-34 Landspeeder arrives for Star Wars fanatics.

Star Wars Day is just a couple of weeks afar and already the Star Wars franchise has already given fans enough reasons to spend exorbitant amounts of cash on the Ultimate Collector Series Millennium Falcon, AT-AT Walker, or the irresistible DeLorean Time Machine. So, what more could burn a hole in a fan’s pocket?

Well, it’s time for the Luke Skywalker’s rugged X-34 Landspeeder to take up the LEGO form. Yes, the Star Wars Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder 1,890-piece LEGO set has officially landed. The iconic orange Landspeeder set is 19-inches long and comes with a detailed interpretation of the exposed turbine engine on the left, a curved windshield, and cute little minifigs. Priced at $199, this detailed LEGO brick interpretation is not cheap by any means, but then, nothing is too expensive for Star Wars fans, or is it?

The LEGO set designed by César Carvalhosa Soares is crafted with utmost attention to detail as even the scratches of the original one have been replicated. He added by saying, “The finished product makes an incredible display and is the perfect addition to the UCS collection.”

Putting together the Landspeeder will be a satisfying experience, and in a way, it puts some of the other versions to shame considering the level of detail on this one. Apparently, this is not the first time LEGO has officially released the Landspeeder, but this one is way better and also comes with meticulously crafted parts that aren’t available anywhere else.

The set comes complete with a display plaque to sport it on your living room shelf or geek work desk. It’s going to be available for LEGO VIPs on May 1, and others can order it from May 4th from the official portal. Whether there’ll be more surprises coming our way in the following week still remains to be seen!

Star Wars Landspeeder Punchbowl Tiki Mug Set: DUI on Tatooine

Tropical tiki drinks: I daydream about them often, usually when I’m stuck at work under horrible fluorescent lighting watching the time pass at a snail’s pace. Enter this $70 X-34 Landspeeder tiki mug set crafted by Geeki Tikis and available from Tonyk. I can already close my eyes and imagine myself much happier at happy hour.

The X-34 Landspeeder punchbowl itself holds 20-ounces, making it a relatively small punch bowl but the perfect size for a personal punch bowl. Of course, every punch bowl is personal size if you try hard and believe in yourself. The set also includes 2-ounce mini muglets of Luke Skywalker and his trusty astromech droid R2-D2 for when you just need to take a shot first (like Han!).

I’ve actually started collecting tiki mugs, but I have to watch myself when I’m buying them because my collection can’t grow too large too quickly without my wife taking notice. “Just how many tiki mugs does one person need?” I imagine her asking while I bite my tongue and don’t ask her many pairs of shoes one person needs because I’m tired of sleeping on the sofa downstairs.

Colin Furze Made a Jet-Powered Star Wars Landspeeder

Inventor and madman Colin Furze has built some pretty wild stuff over the years. Among my favorites are his Star Wars-inspired projects, which so far have included a giant AT-ACT playhouse and a full-size TIE Silencer ships. I can only imagine what Colin’s neighbors must think of him.

Furze has yet again teamed up with eBay UK to sponsor a Star Wars build, this time replicating Luke’s X-34 landspeeder from A New Hope.

What’s really amazing about the project is that it’s not only quite accurate to the version seen on screen, but that it actually can drive. Furze started off with a standard golf cart he found on the auction website, and proceeded to rip it apart, leaving just the chassis, suspension and steering.

He then crafted a beautiful bent metal body for the vehicle then painted it up to look like it did on screen. Initially, he upgraded the cart’s electric motor for motivation, but that wasn’t enough for Furze, so he later added some jet engines to give it a little extra oomph.

You can check out the finished landspeeder build in the video clip below:

While the jets add an awesome look and sound effects to the vehicle, they actually don’t make it go that fast, so Furze thinks that at some point he might put in a more powerful electric motor, or possibly put a good, old-fashioned internal combustion engine. Regardless of how fast it goes, it’s still an amazing build.

Radio Flyer Landspeeder: Tatooine Transportation

Star Wars kids will absolutely love this X-34 Landspeeder from Radio Flyer. It doesn’t actually hover, but it does have a motorized drivetrain. You just need a VFX artist to go around with your kids and erase the bottom as they drive along. Problem solved.

It features an interactive dashboard with light-up buttons and even has sounds taken from the original Star Wars movie. It can carry two kids, and has two forward speeds (2mph and 5mph), and can also go in reverse. Too bad there are no droids to put in back.

It is powered by a rechargeable 12-volt battery and will be available exclusively from Toys ‘R’ Us. It’s available for pre-order now for $499.99(USD), with the first units expected to ship in September.

Sadly, its maximum load is 130 pounds, so I hope they make an adult-sized version. Kids get all the cool stuff.

Star Wars Landspeeder Cake: Hovercake

Don’t forget to eat your cake, Luke. But I was going to Tosche Station to pick up some power converters! Wait, did you say cake?!? I’m on it, Aunt Beru. This cool cake was made by Gilles Leblanc of Les Gateaux de Gilles in Quebec and it looks just like Luke’s X-34 Landspeeder.

This Landspeeder won’t hover as it cruises over the deserts of Tatooine, but it is a tasty treat that is perfect in every other detail. It is made from chocolate cake and chocolate buttercream, and covered in an orange fondant.

All of the details are here, like the front grills and clear windscreen. The only thing missing are the two droids in back, and you wouldn’t want droids hitching a ride on your cake anyway. It looks super delicious. Pour yourself some blue milk and dig in.

LEGO Star Wars Minifigs in Ship Costumes: A New KanColle

Flickr user Nick Chen aka solscud made a cute collection of Star Wars minifigures wearing their respective vehicles. For instance, Kylo Ren has his command shuttle, Han Solo is wearing the Millennium Falcon and Rey is, well, in the Millennium Falcon, but with the new different radar dish.

X-34 Landspeeder Cake: Baked in the Tatooine Sun

This may look like a scene from before or after Luke and Ben and the droids went for a stroll in the Landspeeder, but it is actually a cake.

This delicious vehicle was made by Gilles Leblanc of Les Gâteaux de Gilles, along with some other bakers. It looks like a X-34 Landspeeder, but it has chocolate inside. It probably has better resale value than that speeder that Luke drove too.

This is a chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream, and it belongs parked in the Tatooine garage that is my hungry mouth. Use The Force? No, use The Forks. And grab me some milk, will ya?
