Littertainment!

If I told you that a garbage bin won a design award in Sydney and the coveted IxDA interaction design award, you’d wonder what I was talking about. Well, TetraBIN is literally (litter-aly!) an award winning trash can. Why is that? Because it makes trash disposal so unique and fun, it became an instant iconic art-installation in itself!

The bin is separated into three compartments, and has a massive 8-bit style screen on the outside, running all around the periphery of the bin. When switched on, the bin runs its own version of the block-dropping game Tetris, allowing you to somewhat maneuver the blocks by throwing garbage into the bin. Turn debris to tetris I say!

Connected Smart Litter Weighs Your Cat’s Poo, Keeps Track Of Its Health

tailio-1

Cats are sleeping and pooping machines by design. And despite their limited use, we love them and want to make sure they stay healthy. To that end, a San Diego company called Pet Wireless has created the Tailio, a connected smart litter. After connecting to your home’s Wifi, the built-in scale starts keeping track not only of your cat’s weight as it does its business, but of the weight of its poo and pee as well. A healthy feline stays more or less at a constant weight, and so do its excrements; any unusual fluctuations could indicate a health issue. Tailio will send all the data to the cloud where it’ll be analyzed and communicated to you.

Aside from looking for possible health concerns, you can use Tailio to keep track of your cat’s growth, or to assess the effectiveness of a weight loss program. And if you fancy yourself a cat lover and a data nerd, a $99 pledge will get you your very own Tailio.

Litterers, Beware: Here’s What Happens When the Trash Cans Strike Back

Littering is bad. We all know that. Throwing trash in streets is just asking for trouble. Not only does it make the world an uglier place, but it also clogs street drains which could result in floods and all sorts of other crap.

How hard can it be to find the nearest trash can and throw your garbage in it, right? The hilarious PSA by the South Dublin County Council gives people more incentive to throw their trash in the proper bins, since they risk having it thrown back at them by this dude dressed in a trash can suit.

Litter VideoThe video is called ‘Tackle Litter’ for reasons that will become clear to you once you watch it.

Now do you still want to litter? Nah, I didn’t think so.
