Capcom’s ‘Teppen’ card game pits Chun-Li against Dante

Capcom clearly couldn't resist the temptation to hop on the card game bandwagon. The gaming giant has teamed up with GungHo to release Teppen (no, not Tekken), a card battler for Android and iOS that revolves around better-known characters from Stre...

Celebrate Mega Man’s 30th Anniversary with a $22,000 Solid Gold Statue

They just don’t make games like Mega Man(Rock Man) anymore. That was a great game. Can you believe that it’s been 30 years since the character first appeared in video games? If I have to feel old, so do you. Now, Capcom is celebrating this milestone in a variety of ways, including the release of this 5-inch, 3.2-ounce, solid 24-carat gold Mega Man statue.

These statues will cost about $22,000 so you rich kids better get in on these quick, while the rest of us just shake our fists at you. You can also get a 2.3-inch, 0.7-ounce version for $6,300. I’ll still curse and shake my fist at those who can afford that one. I just did it, but you couldn’t see.

It looks pretty cool and comes in its own special case too. It should be the Oscar award of video games, it’s so beautiful. It’s just too damned expensive. I think I’ll just carve one out of styrofoam and spray paint it gold so I can have my own awards ceremony. I’ll win the award for Best Hand-Carved Statue and for Not Paying Way Too Damn Much for a Statue.

You like me. You really like me!

Red Mega Man Helmet: The Red Bomber

Sure, the Mega Man you grew up controlling on the game screen was blue, but things can change. What if Mega Man was tired of being blue all the time. What if he wanted to be red just for a change? That is what we have here is Mega Man’s helmet, but in red. Perhaps it’s from bizarro Mega Man.

This limited-edition helmet is designed to actually be worn for cosplay or just for running around the house making explosion sounds with your mouth. We don’t judge. It has LED lights on the outside and foam on the inside to cushion your noggin.

It ships in a cool decorative box that you can use for displaying the helmet on your shelf. Get yours at ThinkGeek for $169.99(USD).

This Mario Mega Man Mashup Is Marvelous

Two of the best all-time Nintendo games are Super Mario Bros. and Mega Man. So I can think of no better Nintendo hero than one who combines Mario and Mega Man himself.

This fun mashup comes courtesy of CG artist Yago De Amorim, who says the inspiration came from a 2D illustration by artist Jake Parker. Yago created the image using Maya, Zbrush, Vray, and Photoshop, and the end result is one of the greatest video game characters ever. Can you imagine blasting through the Mushroom Kingdom with an buster gun? And Bowser’s flying hammers won’t even leave a mark when you’re wearing that helmet.

Great job, Yago and Jake! I hope Nintendo someday makes a Mario Mega Man game.

Mega Man Headphones: Rock & Roll Man

The wearability of ThinkGeek’s oversized Mega Man helmet is just a suggestion. Thankfully, fans who don’t want to go full robot can still show their love for the Blue Bomber with Emio’s officially licensed Mega Man headphones.

The headphones’ ear cups resemble the round sections on either side of Mega Man’s helmet while the headband has part of the ridge on top of the helmet. In a hilarious act of brazenness, Emio didn’t even bother listing the headphone’s technical specs.

Emio is selling the headphones for $100 (USD), which should clue you in on the headphones’ sonic qualities. It also has sillier video-game themed headphones: a pair of cow-ear headphones based on Harvest Moon and a pair of cat-eared earphones based on Darkstalkers‘ Felicia.

Wearable Mega Man Helmet: No F*cks Man

There is this dude in my office at the day job who rides a tiny little Vespa-like scooter to work all summer. He’s not a small guy. He looks like a Shriner with gigantism who escaped the parade with his tiny vehicle. He also wears flip-flops, no helmet, and Hawaiian shirts as he cruises down the busiest street in town with his scooter topped out at ten MPH under the speed limit, giving zero f*cks all the way. He’s sort of my hero. He should buy this helmet, it would be awesome.

This Mega Man helmet is big, blue, bulbous, and beautiful. Sure, this is more a cosplay item than a protective helmet for motor vehicles. We all know that if you crash your scooter or bike, the helmet won’t always save you anyway. At least you can look cool if you crash.

The helmet has multiple layers of padding inside to fit a variety of head sizes. You can get yours at ThinkGeek for $159.99(USD). Just be sure to pair it with a really slow scooter an obnoxious Hawaiian shirt.
