Beauty Is in the Eye(s) of this Beholder Cake

There are some pretty creepy monsters in the world of Dungeons & Dragons, but I think the Beholder is the one that gets me the most. Between its lumpy body, big cyclops eye, pointy teeth, and eyeball tentacles, it’s definitely nightmare fuel. You wanna know one way to defeat a Beholder? Slice it up and stuff it in your belly! That’s finally an option now that the Beholder is in cake form.

Natalie of Sideserf Cake Studio makes some pretty amazing pastries, and this one is no exception. This edible sphere of many eyes is filled with all kinds of magic, including a moist yellow cake spell and a sugary green buttercream spell. She wrapped the cake in colored modeling chocolate and then sculpted all of the details from the pliable and edible material. She made the eyestalks out of food-safe wire and covered them with modeling chocolate too. After that, she got to work painting the blobby, hovering monster with food coloring. To finish the look, she added wet and shiny bits using clear piping gel.

Natalie made the cake for one of her Patreon supporters who loves to play D&D with her husband. You can check out how she created this creepy and sweet treat in the video below:

That part when sculpted and painted the insides of the creature’s mouth before putting in its teeth was particularly gnarly. Also, I would want to eat those teeth one at a time as a snack because I’m the kind of guy who bites the head off the chocolate bunny candies at easter.

Godzilla Humidifier Improves Your Air with Monster Breath

Whether you have the heat cranked up during cold weather, or live in the desert or mountains, extremely dry air can be quite hard on your system. The best thing you can do besides gulping down buckets of water is to get yourself a good humidifier. And if you’re going to have to put a humidifier on your shelf or tabletop, it might as well look like Godzilla.

The King of the Humidifiers offers up a delightful mist to help improve moisture, and does it with style. Turn Godzilla on, and his theme music plays. His mouth also lights up to create a heat ray effect, which I assumed to be a cold ray since it’s blue. The desktop Kaiju will also alert you when his water tank is empty by making footstep sounds. Check him out in action in the video below:

All this Godzilla humidifying goodness can be yours for about $78 over on Amazon. I was able to find the same thing over on Ehobby Taiwan for just $1,899 Taiwan dollars, or about 62 bucks, though you’ll have to learn to speak Chinese if you want to buy one there.

Watch how this whimsical monster uses storytelling to depict the time!

The Number Cruncher watch has hands, but they aren’t for telling time! The watch face features an adorable cartoon monster that uses its hands to munch on numbers in a way that tells the time while also telling a story of sorts.

This blue monster (stomping its way through Central London) comes with a window at its stomach, and within its left hand. The hour of the day appears as the number in the monster’s hand, and as it munches on it, the minutes appear within the monster’s digestive system. It’s a good thing there’s no seconds dial on this watch because I honestly don’t know where one could possibly put it!

The Number Cruncher comes with a stainless steel body, a metal-mesh watch strap, and is waterproof up to 5ATM.

Japanese Theme Park Getting Life-Size Godzilla!

Japan sure loves their classic monster movies, so it’s no wonder that Godzilla is always showing up all over the place. Now, it turns out that a theme park is building a life-size version of the scaly kaiju, and unlike some previous Godzilla statues, this one is going to be a permanent installation.

The gigantic Gojira will measure roughly 65′ high, 82′ wide, and 180′ long, and will be a fixture at the Nijigen no Mori anime theme park on Awaji Island. The massive creature will be part of an area to be called Godzilla Interception Operation, which will include several attractions, including a shooting arcade, as well as a zipline that glides right into the mouth of Godzilla.

Here’s hoping he doesn’t chomp down while you ride between his razor-sharpened teeth. Godzilla is expected to rise in the summer of 2020. I wonder if this means Mothra or Megalon will be showing up soon afterwards.

Seamlessly compare the 2019 remix of R.E.M.’s ‘Monster’ to the original

It's hard to believe, but it's been 25 years since R.E.M. released Monster. And, like any classic album approaching such a milestone, it's getting a massive reissue complete with a remastered version of the album, demos and outtakes, plus two discs w...

These Creepy Purses Have Got Their Eye on You

There are monsters all around us, and they’re hiding in plain sight. It looks like some of them even like hanging out in the women’s accessories department now.

These awesomely creative and creepy clutch purses come from the mind of Breanne of Creature Clutches and The Geekstress. Each one is handmade, and features a single eyeball peering out from beneath its fabric shell. While I dig the big dragon’s eye, the monster ones with the teeth sticking out are my favorites.

We’ve been assured no actual monsters were harmed in the making of these bags. The eyeballs are made from hand-painted glass, while the teeth are made from shells.

You can currently find a few of these clutches over on Breanne’s Etsy shop, with prices ranging from $35 to $75. She also makes some nifty monster dice bags for tabletop RPG fans. Thanks to Technabob friend Mike for the heads up on these amazing creations.

I Need This Gigantic Godzilla in My Life

Do you like Godzilla? I mean do you REALLY, REALLY like Godzilla? Then you’re going to want to start saving your money for this epic collectible from the X-PLUS Gigantic series.

This monstrous PVC kaiju figure measures in at a whopping 38.19″ long, and 18.5″ tall, and will look awesome on your desktop or bookshelf – assuming you have the space for it. Maybe the dining table is a better option. I love the idea of a Godzilla centerpiece surrounded by tiny buildings for it to stomp on. This thing is incredibly detailed. Just look at those razor-sharp teeth and deadly-looking spiny bits down its back and tail.

Pre-orders start in Japan today, with the monster selling for 66,000 yen – or about $610 here in the U.S. It’s not available for pre-order yet, but there’s a good chance you’ll be able to get one from Entertainment Earth or Big Bad Toy Store closer to its release.
