Razer BELiEF holds a portable SSD with a slim mousepad so you never forget your stored data!

When design meets innovation, the result is functional joy served on the platter! The Razer BELiEF designed by creative studio Smooth Way is a testament to that fact. This cool conceptual gadget is a mouse pad that doubles as an external solid-state drive (SSD), something that no one asked for but everyone needed. This super thoughtful product design is the brainchild of designers Jaehee Kim and Seungho Choi who’ve adapted Razer’s philosophy, highlighting the use of technology for digital nomads for this fantastic creation.

The idea is relatively straightforward; use the accessory as a mouse pad and when you need to transfer data, attach the cable, and it’s all done. Then, when it is time to take the data home from your office, wrap up the mouse pad, and you’re good to go. Portability is the key here as BELiEF offers lighting fast data transfer speeds, and maximum space utilization on your work desk. The accessory comprises of rubber and plastic material – joined together by bonds and screws – showing the clear distinction between the two usabilities. A dynamic gauge displays the data transmission status (both download and upload) in the customary Razer colorways – even the design bears a very close resemblance to the brand’s characteristics.

To make it easy to carry the SSD, there are magnets at the top and bottom for a quick clasp action. A similar real-life product from Razer (I hope they are watching this one) would be the perfect addition to any desk space – gaming or otherwise. I genuinely like this accessory’s simplistic yet beneficial design, and would I want to own one in real life? No questions asked there, just shut up and take my money!

Let’s Hope Razer’s Stormtrooper Accessories are More Accurate Than Their Namesake

Star Wars fans, Razer has taken wraps off of their Stormtrooper Edition accessories, which include a BlackWidow Lite mechanical keyboard, the Atheris wireless mouse, and Goliathus Extended gaming mouse mat, each featuring an Imperial stormtrooper theme. Let’s hope they don’t affect your aim in game and make you get ambushed by a pack of wild Ewoks.

The special edition BlackWidow Lite Silent Mechanical Keyboard features a stormtrooper top plate, a black-and-white braided cable and an Imperial crest on the Escape key, while the Atheris Wireless Mouse sports the iconic Imperial stormtrooper helmet on the mouse itself. The Goliathus Extended Gaming Mouse Mat has an image of a squad of stormtroopers against a partial Imperial emblem and a cool black-and-white design.

Gamers who ally themselves with the Dark Side and the Empire now have some cool new gear to buy. They are available now with the keyboard costing $99.99, the mouse and the mouse mat selling for $59.99 and $34.99, respectively. These accessories look pretty sweet and all have great designs.

Gigabyte launches Aivia Xenon dual mode touchpad mouse

When our eyes first landed upon the device from Gigabyte you see above, it took them a few seconds to work out exactly what they were looking at. There's a reason for that, though, as the Aivia Xenon -- as it is known -- lives a double life. By day, it's an ordinary PC mouse, with support for multi-touch gestures. By night (well, and day too, if you choose) it's a portable touchpad. The hybrid device offers 1000DPI resolution, can be used up to 10 meters away (for presentations etc.) and comes with software that lets you create custom gestures. If you have two birds, but only space for one stone, head down to the source link for more info.

Embroidered Space Invaders Mouse Pad: Cross-Stitch Invaders

Even though you don’t really need a mouse pad to make your mouse work these days, most people still have one. I know that I like using my mouse pad with my desktop, no matter what the surface it’s resting on. It just makes it easier to move. That being said, there’s no reason why you can’t spice it up a bit. Check out this Space Invaders embroidered mouse pad you can make for yourself.

In this particular case, the design started with a simple and super cheap (99 cent) foam IKEA Lågis mouse pad. To make your own, you’ll have to select the pixelated image you want to embroider, but you can easily download something off the web to serve as a pattern.

Once you have done this, you can mark the picture with a white pencil or gel ink marker on your mouse pad, using a dense plastic grid to transfer the pixel pattern. Then it’s time to start stitching.

The results are quite cool, and Hanne from Eilen Tein reports that a laser mouse has no problems working over the pattern. Of course, the same technique will work with any pixel art, so you don’t need to feel limited to Space Invaders. Why not go for a Super Mario Bros. or Pac-Man mouse pad to mix it up a little bit?
