Pendant Lamp Made from Mushroom Mycelium Is One Fungi Light

Created by “grower of carbon-negative materials” Myceen with the help of good ol’ Mother Nature, the $750 B-Wise Pendant Lamp is made entirely from mushroom mycelium and its organic byproducts. The mushroom material it’s made from contains no chemicals or synthetic additives, “making it perfectly compostable.” That’s cool, but I did think it was a bread bowl at first. Now I want some clam chowder.

The growth of the mushroom mycelium has been stopped, and the lamp is perfectly safe for humans and buildings. That’s a relief because you can’t very well tell me a lamp is made from mushrooms and not expect me to take a bite. I love mushrooms, especially with spaghetti and meatballs.

Myceen also grows mycelium acoustic wall panels, which apparently have unique acoustic properties. My apartment’s walls? They also have unique acoustic properties. Mostly that they’re paper thin and let every little noise pass through with ease. I can hear my neighbor sleeping, and he doesn’t even snore!

Mushroom-Shaped Disco Balls: Funky Fungi

Disco balls: no dance party is complete without one. Same goes for somebody dancing on the sofa with a lampshade on their head. Usually it’s me, while my dogs hesitantly watch from the floor confused. But enough about my Friday nights at home alone, Amazon is selling these Mushroom Disco Balls (affiliate link) to liven up your living space with some funky reflective fungi!

Currently available in three different sizes (6″, 7″, and 8″ heights, the extra-small 5″ is sold out), the discoshrooms are sure to add a unique twist to any decor. Now I just need some bean bag chairs, a lava lamp, and a blacklight-reactive poster of the hookah-smoking caterpillar from Alice In Wonderland and my hippy rumpus room will finally be complete.

Did I just buy one of each size? Of course I did. Is my wife going to ask why my rumpus room always smells like hastily burned incense when she comes home from work early? Probably. Is it because I’m trying to cover the smell of marijuana? Of course not, it’s because I’m trying to cover the smell of… black magic rituals. Yes, black magic rituals – that’s what I was doing! Summoning demons and what have you.

Mario Mushroom Blondies Power up Your Sweet Tooth

Taste the Mushroom Kingdom in every bite of these neat Mario mushroom blondies from Food Network.  Sadly, these mushrooms won’t make you grow super big or give you the power to shoot fireballs, but they will be delicious. You wouldn’t want that anyway. Can you imagine feeding these to your kids and having them turn into giants, destroying the place?

The video will show you how to make them and it couldn’t be easier. It basically involves cutting out a bunch of circles and sticking it all together. You’ll just need some need blondies, ice cream, fondant icing, and red-colored chocolate melts. That’s about it.

Genetically modified mushrooms cleared by the USDA

Mushroom Dome Lets You Grow Your Own Shrooms

I love mushrooms. We eat them on steak, in salads, in stir-fry, mushrooms are great. I am also a fan of the show How It’s Made and the last episode I watched showed how they grow and harvest mushrooms. I didn’t realize all that “dirt” on them out of the package was probably not dirt, but animal dung.

I’m going to be more careful about washing them from now on. I could just grow my own mushrooms, but I am sort of lazy. If you have more of a green (or mushroom-colored) thumb than I do, you can grow your own crop of oyster mushrooms with this kit. You can even get multiple crops out of it.

The first crop of homegrown shrooms will be ready to cook in about three weeks according to the package. The kit comes with the mushroom dome terrarium, hardwood pellets, mushroom spawn, and growth instructions. You can get yours at ThinkGeek for $24.99(USD).
