My Little Pony Soldering Iron: Friendship Is 3rd-degree Burns

Are you a brony who also loves electronics projects? Well, we’ve got some good news for you. You can make your own My Little Pony soldering iron, which makes the ponies more like unicorns. Because friendship is magic. Hot, flesh, searing magic.

If you want to know how to make one of these cute but dangerous hybrids, check out Barb Noren’s YouTube video. She shows you how to mod My Little Pony toys with soldering irons inside. You know, just what all of the kids want for Christmas this year. It doesn’t look too complicated and they say that this can be done by anyone “with even the most basic soldering and rotary tooling skills.”

I also wonder how easy this will be to work with, because you know, it’s got a pony on the end. I’m gonna call mine Rainbow Dash to the Hospital.

Anyway, check out the video if you want to make your own. I’d like to see them fight each other with their own hot unicorn horns until it’s an arena of rainbow-colored burnt plastic. So I better get to work. See you guys later.

Hasbro Toy Fans Getting First HASCON Convention

Do you or your kids love Transformers? How about Magic The Gathering? Or My Little Pony? Well, you’re in luck, because this year, Hasbro is kicking off their first ever HASCON – a family-friendly convention for fans of the company’s many awesome toys and games.

The show runs from September 8 to 10 at the Rhode Island Convention Center and Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, RI, and will feature exhibits with toys from popular lines like NERF, Play-Doh, Dungeons & Dragons, and GI Joe. Also expect lots of cool licensed toys from the Marvel and Star Wars universes.

Among the attractions will be a collection of props from the Transformers movies, mingling opportunities with My Little Pony characters, a NERF arena and NERF Modulus building area, a Play-Doh test kitchen, and more. There will also be tons of photo opportunities and hands-on play activities. Add-on or VIP tickets get you access to more activities, including panels with franchise celebrities and creators, movie sneak peaks, dinners, and much more.

You can buy tickets now on the HASCON website. Single day tickets are $30 for kids and $60 for adults, and a three-day pass is $75 for kids and $165 for adults. For those wanting the full VIP treatment, those tickets are quite a bit more, with kids tickets going for $214 and adult tickets going for $642.

My Little Pony has been around for a long time. I remember the toys from way back in the day when I was young. My daughter loves horses, but she isn’t a fan of My Little Pony because they aren’t realistic. If you or one of the kids (or Bronies) you know is into My Little Pony, here is your chance to mount a pony head to your wall.

You can get three different My Little Pony lights that look like their head with appropriately colorful backgrounds that stick on the wall. You can choose from Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, or Twilight Sparkle.

Four Horsies of the ‘Pocalypse: Friendship is Over

Bigshot Toyworks is now raising funds on Kickstarter for Four Horsies of the ‘Pocalypse. The four-figure set is the toymaker’s follow up to Maddie, its Cthulhu and My Little Pony mashup toy. The set includes Raven, the horsie of Famine, Clash, the horsie of War, Calamity, the horsie of Pestilence and Ghost, the horsie of Death.

Aside from their original colors, Bigshot Toyworks also has limited edition glow-in-the-dark and clear versions of the figures.

He may be invisible, but I’m pretty sure the horsie of commercialization was all over that video. Pledge at least $100 (USD) on Kickstarter to get a Four Horsies of the ‘Pocalypse set as a reward.

Need more My Little Pony excitement? Sure you do. This is Iron Hoof, a mechanical pony ride. He can withstand up to 286 pounds. So even the largest brony can get on and experience a variable 3-speed ride. It’s a neat store front ride for anyone willing to pony up the change.

Hey, MLP fans need to be able to ride ponies, just like Star Wars fans want to ride in an X-Wing. This machine plays music and is built over a welded steel frame with a real saddle on top. It has two coin slots, just like a regular storefront horsey ride.

It was built by DeviantART members Markus K., Saer Fallensun, Snow Chetah, and irgendeinwolf for GalaCon 2014, a brony convention in Ludwigsburg, Germany. It’s for sale if you want to ride off into the sunset on it.

Hasbro & Shapeways Launch My Little Pony Fan Art Store: 3D Printing is Magic

Thanks to the Internet, it’s much easier for fan art to go viral and reach not just content creators but other fans as well. Recognizing that 3D printing can help turn those fan-made ideas into real goods, Hasbro is working with Shapeways to release SuperFanArt, a line of toys made by My Little Pony fans for fellow fans.

SuperFanArt currently has five artists, who already have eight figurines for sale. According to the New York Times, which spoke with Hasbro about the project, the toy maker will screen the designs “to ensure they are not obscene, violent or hateful”, but otherwise the artists have creative freedom and even price their products themselves.

Gallop to the SuperFanArt store on Shapeways to purchase a figurine. Sign up at the SuperFanArt website if you want to become part of its stable of artists.
