NERF LMTD Star Trek Starfleet Type-II And Type-III Phaser Blasters

Designed to resemble the Type-II and Type-III phasers used in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Hasbro has just announced preorders for a NERF LMTD set of the weapons. The $120 set includes both a Type-II one-handed phaser pistol and a Type-III phaser rifle. Obviously, I will be everyday-carrying both for protection against the Borgs.

According to Hasbro, “The Type 3 motorized dart blaster has light-up effects that simulate the look of being assimilated by the Borg in homage to the film, Star Trek: First Contact, light-up phaser effects, phaser sounds, authentic First Contact movie sounds, an internal 5-dart clip, and fires one dart at a time. The Starfleet Type 2 Phaser fires one dart and has a pull-back priming handle.” Borgs, beware, and I won’t have them set to stun, either.

One can never have too many NERF guns modeled after sci-fi weapons, that’s what I say. That’s also what I’m trying to convince my wife. It’s…not going well. “You don’t even play with that NERF Mandalorian rifle you bought,” she’ll argue before I have to explain for the hundredth time I’m keeping it mint in packaging as a collector’s item. It’s an uphill battle.

NERF and Disney Team Up to Sell a $120 Mandalorian Rifle: This Is the Way

The Mandalorian merchandise is like Disney is printing their own money. And now NERF has teamed up with the company to produce this $120 Mandalorian Amban Phase-pulse Blaster. Obviously, this is going to look perfect mounted above my fireplace mantle. I mean I’ll have to find somewhere else for my grandma’s ashes, but still.

The blaster measures a very respectable 50.25-inches (1.27-meters) long and requires 2 AAA batteries, which power the rifle’s 8 different loading and blasting sound effects, as well as its LED-illuminated scope and targeting reticle. Now let’s go bullseye some womp rats!

To operate, a single dart is placed in the spring-action breech-loader, and there’s a handle you pull back to prime the gun for firing, just like the Mandalorians in the show. Pre-order a blaster before December 31st, and the guns should be ready to ship by October 1st, 2021. Wait – October 2021? That’s a long time to go in a galaxy far away. How do I even know Earth will still exist by then and NERF didn’t just take my money and is spending it in the afterlife? Food for thought. Not very good food, mind you. Actually, this is just the wrapper a fast-food burger came in.

Man Builds a Gas Engine-powered NERF Blaster

Because a NERF gun can never have enough horsepower, builder Peter Sripol modded a NERF Elite 2.0 Turbine CS-18 to be powered by a little four-stroke combustion engine mounted on top. Is that a good idea, or the best idea? I’d argue it’s somewhere in-between, but definitely leaning towards the best idea.

The NERF blaster, which previously operated via an electric motor-powered flywheel, now operates via a gas engine powered flywheel for even faster spinning and an almost continuous rate of fire (a great example can be seen around 11:20 in the video). My goodness, what I wouldn’t give to be waiting on the couch with this thing when my roommate gets home from work.

You know, this project reminds me of the time I made a gas-powered laptop. The only difference is Peter’s mod actually works, and I just ruined a perfectly good computer and can’t get the smell of gasoline out of my office.

This NERF-inspired Bazooka Is Anything But Safe

Over the last few years, NERF has added some awesome larger guns to its arsenal. Some even need a shoulder strap. But none of those weapons compare to Ryan & David’s recent creation: We’re talking a four-foot long custom-built rocket launcher that fires oversized darts made from pool noodles. Yes, pool noodles.

But this thing doesn’t use pressurized air to propel its giant darts, instead, like a true gun, it uses actual explosives to fire foam missiles. As you can see in the video, its powerful enough to deal out some serious damage.

If you are in a NERF war and someone shows up carrying this gun, run. Just run and keep running. Don’t look back. Seriously, when you see this thing destroy a styrofoam head, it’s no joke. The watermelon also gets completely obliterated. I hear what you’re saying. Your head is harder than that right? Well, target number three is an old Xbox 360 console, and guess what? It also has a very bad day.

Needless to say, don’t try this at home.

Nerf Powered Tennis Ball Launces Makes Playing With Your Dog Even Easier

Playing with dogs is great. You throw the ball, they run after it, and sometimes they even bring it back, it’s a lot of fun. But what if you could make it even more fun with a Nerf blaster that shoots tennis balls?

That’s exactly what the Nerf Dog Tennis Ball Blaster does (not a very original name guys). Just load it up, pull back the mechanism and watch it fly up 50 feet away, hey at least it’ll save your arm from wearing out if you’re dog never wants to quit. You can also adjust the power between four different levels, based on how far your dog’s willing to run. “You want me to run that far?! Nah, you can get it yourself.”

It’s even hands-free pickup so you don’t have bend over and grab the ball everytime, just press the end of the gun against the ball on the ground and it’s loaded.

It’s available now for $23 and comes with 4 tennis balls.

This LEGO NERF Maverick REV-6 Blaster Replica Really Works

Building LEGO replicas is one thing, but building working replicas of guns in LEGO is something entirely different. Check out this reproduction of the NERF Maverick REV-6 blaster by AstonishingStudios. This is some awesome LEGO engineering.

This fully-functional blaster uses only plastic bricks and a metal spring for power. It fires standard NERF suction cup-tipped darts, but each had to be shaved down just a bit to fit into the gun’s rotating cylinder. It is a faithful recreation of the original NERF toy that you terrorized your parents with back in the day.

It’s probably more expensive to build this out of individual LEGO pieces than to buy the actual NERF gun, but it is nice knowing that it can be built if one has the skill.

Giant NERF Gun Will Knock Out Your Soul

I’ve been involved in enough NERF wars to know you want to protect two specific parts of your body… or technically four. You protect your eyes and your balls. Everything else can take a hit with no ill effects. That’s not the case with the world’s largest NERF gun.

worlds_largest_nerf_gun_1zoom in

These giant suction cup darts will knock your soul straight out of your anus. Created by Mark Rober and the guys from Eclectical Engineering, this giant NERF pistol is powered by a paint ball canister designed to handle up to 3000 psi and hurls massive darts out the muzzle using 80 psi bursts.

It can launch pool noodles with plunger tops (these are the darts) at speeds up to 40 mph. I can only imagine the destruction that would happen if you shot your terrified foes with this thing in a neighborhood NERF war. I hope he doesn’t aim for the nads with that thing… or do I?
