The Nissan Patrol Concept is a military-ready six-wheeled behemoth designed to dominate roads

Modeled on the larger-than-life presence of cars like the Nissan Rogue, the Nissan Patrol is a hulking 6×6 concept that’s designed to command authority and enforce the law.

The work of UAE-based automotive designer Nazar Eisa, the Nissan Patrol concept was created for a client based out of Abu Dhabi. With its massive body resting on six wheels, the car clearly isn’t meant for the faint of heart. Rendered in olive green as well as a special camouflage paint-job, the car’s assertive presence is entirely intentional. The name suggests that it’s less of a recreational vehicle and more of a patrol car designed for military, SWAT teams, and other rapid-response security personnel.

The Nissan Patrol concept is a successor to the existing Patrol line of long wheel-base cars from the Japanese company, dating back to as recently as 2017. The 2017 Patrol (also called the Armada) saw a lot of success in parts of Asia and the Middle East, where it was, in fact, marketed as a military vehicle. This current Patrol concept is no different, although it does come with a staggering 6-wheel drive, and a massive elongated body that has big pick(up) energy… (see what I did there?)

While we have no view of the car’s interiors, the exteriors definitely indicate that it’s meant for a wide variety of scenarios. The incredible ground clearance makes the Nissan Patrol concept highly capable on rough terrain – a feature that’s further empowered by the Patrol’s 6-wheel drive. The car’s also outfitted with your traditional headlights as well as fog lights on the top and around the bumper for increased visibility. In short… you can run from the Nissan Patrol, but you can’t hide from it!

Nissan reveals the 2023 Z model, fitting it out with a turbocharged engine and 400-hp for the smoothest ride yet!

Replacing 2020’s 370z, Nissan’s 2023 Z model merges retro aesthetics with a fastback chassis that hosts a turbocharged engine and integrated modern technology for the smoothest ride yet.

Since 1969, Nissan’s Z-model has been recognized for its performance reliability, inexpensive price point, and sleek fastback chassis. Today, the automobile manufacturer debuts their 2023 Nissan Z to keep the heritage strong. Returning to the 1969 model’s retro sloping roof, the 2023 Nissan Z will feature aesthetic tributes to the build of previous Z-models and incorporate modern technology to bring the car’s retro design into the scope of today’s technological possibilities.

Powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 engine, the 2023 Nissan Z will be loaded with 400 hp, 350 lb-ft of torque, and a redline of 6,800 rpm. Improving on the model’s predecessor, the 370Z, Nissan’s 2023 Z model accelerates its 0-60 mph time by 15%, positioning the newer model in the low 4-second range. The 2023 Nissan Z will also be the first model of the lineup to feature launch control with a manual transmission, allowing the car to accelerate from a standing start.

Double-wishbone front suspensions also update the 2023 Nissan Z’s geometry, making for smoother and enhanced straight-line stability. Monotube shocks with larger diameters should also improve stability when driving over uneven surfaces. Reducing the flex of the model’s chassis, Nissan integrated a strut tower brace and enlarged the four-wheel disc brake system for the 2023 Z model.

While most of Z’s technical specs have been updated to meet today’s technological advancements, the interior’s two-seat bench merges the old with the new. Some design details from 1969 still find their way inside and outside 2023’s model, from the car’s door handles to its steering wheel. Besides that, you’ll find the standard in-cabin technology we’ve come to expect with newer cars, such as an 8-inch touchscreen navigation system with built-in Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities, keyless entry with push-start, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring.

The 2023 Z will come in either bright blue or yellow, giving it a standout color for everything from racing to cruising.

The car’s turbocharged engine equips the 2023 Nissan Z with 400-hp.

Inside, interior design elements pay tribute to the car’s 1969 origin model.

The 2023 Nissan Z features larger front tires to increase cornering.

The taillights and headlights are designed in ode to the car’s original model as well.

An 8-inch touchscreen navigation system enhances the Nissan 2023 Z’s modern edge.

The Nissan 2023 Z comes with 18×9 aluminum front wheels and rear Yokohama ADVAN Sport P245/45R18 tires.

The Nissan GTR Stravinsky brings the edgy Cybertruck aesthetic to an American muscle car design

On paper, the combination sounds weird… but looking at those marvelous renders, it works.

The Nissan GTR Stravinsky was designed inspired by popular Russian composer Igor Stravinsky who had an unusual way of visually expressing his musical compositions. Stravinsky’s unconventional approach to documenting his music was a discordant mess of angled lines, and even though it strayed away from traditional music styles, it made absolute sense… Similarly, the GTR Stravinsky is far from conventional, but it looks like a perfect combination of sinewy grace and aggression, just like any good muscle car.

The Nissan GTR Stravinsky concept comes from the mind of Moscow-based automotive designer Timur Dautov. The idea for the car came to him while watching an episode of Top Gear, when Jeremy Clarkson described the Nissan GTR R35 as something Stravinsky would have designed. Finding that to be an interesting design brief, Dautov began working out what “Stravinsky’s GTR” would really look like. The results amplify the edgy incongruous aesthetic of the GTR R35 to the extent that the car looks too unreal for this world.

The comparison to the Cybertruck is unavoidable. The origami-inspired surfacing, the nude silver paint-job, these details help propel the Stravinsky into a cyberpunkish future. The car’s design feels almost like a really basic low-poly model, and the way it reflects light is rather atypical of most cars which create highlights and shadows that define the car’s curves. The Stravinsky, on the other hand, looks like it’s deliberately breaking the rules. Igor Stravinsky would have loved that. Plus, that silver paint job is perfect for this car – I can’t imagine its design really working with any other color. Perhaps a matte black or a pearlescent purple.

The car manages to find order and beauty in chaos. It uses a paneling-style design but still manages to create an engaging 3D volume. The aesthetic is dominated by straight lines, although designer Timur Dautov carefully uses curved lines and surfaces to create a contrast that looks wonderful. The headlights and taillights are both simple yet iconic in their own right, while the extended lower lip on the front bumper really defines the car’s front as well as its side. Plus, can we just admit that there’s something undeniably hypnotic about those beautiful rims??

This Nissan all-electric camper is for couples who can’t resist winter expeditions!

The trend of campers is here to stay and it’s captivating more and more people by the day. The freedom to travel in a compact vehicle that comes with the luxuries of home-like comfort – well, that’s a hard proposition to ignore. If you are an outdoorsy person, a compact camper makes even more sense. Lately, Nissan has been focusing on experimenting with campers that in a way are an extension to your lifestyle, and the popular Nissan NV350 Caravan Office Pod revealed recently is a good example. Taking things further, Nissan has now revealed a winter season inspired electric van concept ideal for a couple on their adventurous skirmishes in the snow-laden landscape.

The all-electric e-NV200 Winter Camper concept-van showcases the brand’s vision for a compact camper that brings together the thrill of electric vehicle driving and the essence of exploring the wild in snowy conditions. The camper-van is brimmed with a plethora of technical and lifestyle upgrades to the e-NV200 Evalia for winter escapades to connect with nature. The bespoke driving and lifestyle upgrades are in fact the custom Nissan Camper Technology Luxury kit which are available for the owners of e-NV200 van and the e-NV200 Evalia passenger-van. They include goodies like an on-board 220 V power pack with roof-fitted solar panels, an integrated functioning kitchen, refrigerator, folding beds, and insulated glasses to offer versatile self-sufficient living. The pop-up roof further expands the living space inside ideal for camping and enjoying the surrounding nature.

Since this camper is meant to be driven on slippery inhospitable terrain, Nissan has updated it with premium off-road tires, also increased the ride height and fitted 5400-Lumens twin-spotlights at the front. This lends the camper-van maximum traction, ground clearance and better visibility for difficult driving conditions. Other upgrades include mudguards, door-entry guards, and carrier rack on the rear to haul outdoor adventure gear. According to Nissan manager Dmitry Busurkin, “This vision, and the innovative set of accessories available with the standard e-NV200 models, will get drivers and outdoor enthusiasts alike excited for the adventures we’re all craving in the future.”

Since it is based on the e-NV200 Evalia, Nissan has retained the 40kWh electric battery – the e-NV200 Combi – that drives the 107bhp electric motor to go from 0-62mph in 14.0 seconds and has a top speed of 76mph. This is combined with the regenerative braking and Eco driving mode that extends the electric drive range anywhere between 124 and 187 miles. That said we would like to see an 80 kWh or even better 100 kWh battery on this electric camper-van since it is meant for tough conditions and you don’t want to be stranded in the middle of nowhere just because you ran out of juice. Nissan e-NV200 Winter Camper is a concept at this stage and given its practicality, it won’t be long before Nissan actually turns it into a production model.

The Nissan Dodgy looks like a pod-vehicle designed for terraformed Mars

Henry Ford famously said about his car “If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.” The car itself was a big shift from horse-pulled chariots that existed before, and it took a shift in thinking to achieve the cars we have today. Look at the Nissan Dodgy concept and it looks like the next paradigm shift in transportation.

The Nissan Dodgy by Burov Design resembles a car no doubt, in that it has space for a driver and runs on four wheels, but it visually looks nothing like the cars we see on the roads. For starters, it’s dominated by an unusual affinity for spherical forms. The car itself is spherical in shape, and even has spherical wheels that rotate in all directions, giving the car freedom to move in any direction without rotating. (Remember the Audi RSQ from the film I, Robot?)

The car’s spherical cabin provides ample space for one person, with a panoramic windscreen that stretches all the way to the top, and large glass panels on the doors that give the Dodgy’s driver increased visibility in almost all directions (perhaps because the car can move in multiple directions too). The dashboard features a standard steering wheel system, although a slight glimpse of it shows multiple icons on the wheel, suggesting that the steering is actually a circular display.

So where would one drive the Nissan Dodgy? Well, that isn’t entirely apparent right now, considering the car is just conceptual… but I do see it being the norm in a distant future where motors, batteries, and components can fit right into the underbelly of a vehicle, resulting in a smaller vehicle that’s less car-shaped and more pod-shaped. The overall circular design? That seems like an aesthetic flair… but something does make me think the pod would look better in a futuristic setup. Perhaps on a red planet?

Nissan’s Re-Leaf prototype is a mobile power supply for disaster response

When a natural disaster strikes, one of the biggest challenges is getting power to the disaster site. Nissan may have a way to change that. The company has developed an all-electric emergency response vehicle concept. Dubbed the Re-Leaf, the prototyp...

Popular SUVs redesigned as Sedans are difficult to un-see!

You wouldn’t be wrong to assume this post was about crossovers, but these definitely aren’t crossovers. Created as a fun design exercise that’s more absurd than practical, the guys at NeoMam Studios envisioned what popular SUVs would look like if their proportions were altered to become Sedans. To be honest, it’s a lot like the Jason Momoa commercial from the 2019 Superbowl (remember thin Jason Momoa?)… these new sedans definitely look a little more ‘macho’ than you’d expect and that SUV character really still shines through. It’s a great way to understand design and visual semantics too, and that each product has something called a ‘category code’. You wouldn’t expect to see Kleenex sold in a Coca Cola bottle, right? Or a soft-drink in a jerry can. Bottles are designed a certain way to fit into their product category the same way cars are. That’s probably why these sedans look like there’s something off. It’s a good thing these are just concepts and nobody’s actually building any of them!

Right above the first paragraph, we look at the Land Rover Discovery Sedan, perhaps the most easy-on-the-eyes of them all. The adventure DNA is still present with recognizable headlights and a standard front grille, but the front bumper is shortened to give it the SUV proportions of a sedan. Also, the roofline is a direct ode to the Discovery SUV, although the boxier rear proportion means expansive room for both rear passengers and cargo.

A Hummer Sedan is the equivalent of superimposing Hulk Hogan’s face on Michael Cera’s body (or the Undertaker on Pete Davidson). The iconic Hummer chrome grille almost hints at an SUV build, but its boxy sedan proportions sort of feel like we’re not getting our money’s worth! The large wheels have the same chrome finish as the grille, making this sedan a proper bling machine. The angular front bumper was also redesigned to give it the appearance of a sedan. NeoMam, however, retained the large wing mirrors mounted on the doors to give it the unmistakable appeal of a Hummer.

Is it a Ford Explorer sedan, or is it a reincarnation of the now-defunct Taurus? I admit the Explorer sedan sort of resembles a crossover-inspired Taurus, albeit with a more rugged appeal. The massive front grille and large headlights were lifted directly from the Explorer SUV. However, the shorter front bumper is complemented with a new lower front lip like a proper sports sedan. The large wheels are also lifted from the Explorer SUV.

The GMC Yukon is a prime-and-proper family SUV. It has the right levels of toughness and luxury, and the same holds true for your GMC Yukon sedan. Right off the bat, this sedan means serious business. The familiar GMC Yukon grille and headlight design are present, albeit toned down to match the proportions of a full-size luxury sedan… And yes, it has the aura of a Chrysler 300 C, but the boxy pillars and curved roof is very much original. The GMC Yukon sedan exudes a strong sense of robustness. It has a long and sculpted hood, a long wheelbase, and a shorter front overhang – all the qualities of a Rolls-Royce. It looks as robust as an SUV and yet as stately as a proper limousine.

Depending on your point of view, the Nissan Juke is either funky and super stylish, or just a bit weird and googly. While its design might not please everyone, it’s definitely one of the more natural SUV to sedan transitions. Nissan’s trademarked V-motion grille dominates the front, but the biggest eye-catchers are the LED indicators and large headlights on the front bumper. There’s no mistaking the Juke sedan for anything other than a Nissan, but from the A-pillar and back, it’s pretty much a Juke with a wagon-like rear end. Dare I say this Juke sedan looks good enough for production? Attention Nissan, here’s your next car.

Yet another iconic SUV (perhaps the most iconic, since the word jeep is now used as a noun) turned sedan, the Jeep Wrangler Sedan looks odd, but rewind to the 70-80s and maybe this sedan would fit in just fine. The flat Wrangler doors are retained along with the iconic vertical grille and round headlamps, but the guys at NeoMam Studios angled the windshield to give the vehicle a lower roof. Despite having a sloping windshield and lowered roof, the roofline is straight as an arrow and dramatically slopes downward to form the boxy rear end of the vehicle.

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is a modern SUV with a retro body style. The G-Class (or more popularly known as the G wagon) is also oozing with power and sophistication. The G-Class may be the boxiest of the lot, but it doesn’t look as unusual as a Hummer or a Jeep sedan, now does it? The powerful hood, aggressive Panamericana grille, and classic G-wagon headlights are there. Instead of creating an entirely new front bumper, the G sedan makes do with a Lilliputian version of the G-Wagon’s bumper. The AMG wheels fit well under those resculpted wheel arches. All it needs now is a growling turbocharged V8 motor!
