These Rainbow Pencils Make the Coolest Shavings

Between my electronic gadgets and pens, it’s pretty rare that I use a pencil. Sure, I’ll use colored ones to fill in the occasional cool coloring book, but for the most part, the old #2 kind gets little use around here. Now, here are some pencils I’d want on my desk just because they look so cool.

Designed by Duncan Shotton, these Rainbow Pencils have a construction that’s made up out of multi-colored layers of recycled paper. As you sharpen them, the shavings that remain have a rainbow pattern on them. Naturally, the shaved portion of the pencil is rainbow-colored too, though it still only draws in dark grey graphite.

You can grab a set of five Rainbow Pencils for £5 (~$6 USD) for a 3-pack, or £10 (~$12) for a 5-pack, which makes no sense to me at all. Seems like a better deal to buy two 3-packs.

New Pencils Feature Shock Absorbers And Shields To Prevent Lead Breakage

vbexplie5nnb1sjuf0th

Oh the frustration of breaking the lead on your automatic pencil. There you are, in the zone, when snap!, and you lose your train of thought. Mindful of your very real first world problems, Japanese company Zebra Co. designed the DelGuard pencil, which features a pretty sophisticated system of shock absorbers and retractable shields used specifically for preventing the lead from breaking. One spring takes care of vertical pressure by retracting the lead, while the other senses diagonal pressure and extends a lead-proteting shield. Combined, they should save you at least seconds of frustration.

The DelGuard pencils come out November 12 in Japan, and will sell for about 450 Yen (about $4).

The Accutrax Pencil Blade: For When Your Puny Old Pencil Is Just Not Manly Enough

accutrax

You’re doing all kinds of jobs, remodeling the house, cutting things, hammering others, and generally getting your hands dirty. Good on you. You’re probably using a boring old pencil to trace cut lines though, right? Bet you wish you didn’t get such a sad little tool, don’t you? Bet you wish you’d gotten these Accutrax pencil blades. Blades, that’s right! These will fit any standard box cutter tool, but instead of cutting stuff, they’ll do what pencils do and trace lines. But they’ll do so while being house in a freaking box cutter tool, man. If that’s not something you wanna be totin’ round the construction site, we don’t know what kind of a construction worker you are.

It’s $10 for 3.

Pencil Eraser Pencil Cup

It’s a giant sized pencil eraser that is actually a pencil cup. Hold your pencils with erasers in a pencil eraser. What’s neat about this Pencil End Cup is that the eraser and metal part (what is that metal part called anyway? anyone know?) separate into two pieces. You can use the eraser as a small storage bin or as a cap for the bigger piece. Playful and wacky, yet useful.

Tic Tac Toe Pencil Holder

Bored at your desk? Why not play a game of tic tac toe…with your pencils? It’s not wasting company if it’s a desk supply, right? The Tic Tac Toe Pencil Holder features the classic game board with a hole in each spot to hold a pen or pencil. Play pens vs. pencils or Bic vs. Papermate or the ol’ standby unsharpened vs. sharpened (it’s better to let sharpened win, trust me- don’t anger a sharpened pencil). Made of beech wood.

Ninja Pencils

Get extra stealthy with your writing with a set of Ninja Pencils. What makes these pencils cool is that they are black on black on black. Black wood, black eraser, black pencil. Unlike a yellow pencil, they will never see you coming. Plus there’s ninja eyes and ninjitsu writing on them. They’re #2, so use them on a Scantron. The pencil is mightier than the sword- ninjas can kill with words too.
