These AirTag collars let you use Apple’s ‘Find My’ feature to keep track of your pets

I’d honestly prefer a bunch of these over the ridiculously expensive Hermès tag-holders Apple decided to peddle. After all, if I had to choose between protecting my keys or my pet, I think the answer is pretty obvious.

Say hello to DogTag – a pet-collar designed by the fine folks at Studio Proper that has its own protective enclosure for an Apple AirTag. Designed to work with dogs as well as cats, the DogTag lets you easily keep track of your furry little friend when they’re scampering about outdoors or even playing hide-and-seek with you inside the house. Relying on Apple’s powerful ‘Find My’ network, the DogTag lets you be able to keep track of your pet no matter where they are. You can create no-go zones for them, knowing if and when they scale your fence and jump right into your neighbor’s prized flower-bed… and if they decide to play hooky right before bathing time, you can easily ‘ping’ the AirTag inside the collar to give up your furry little monster’s location, or use the Find Nearby feature to help guide you to them!

Like all standard collars, the DogTag is made from a woven nylon strap and an adjustable buckle lets you tighten or loosen the collar. You can put the DogTag around your dog or cat’s neck, or if you have one of those smaller pets, the tag can easily go around their waist too, like a fashionable little belt. The collar comes along with a secure two-part soft silicone housing that protects the tags from accidental bumps or even getting wet, plus the inner safety enclosure prevents your pets from actually gnawing at the tag too – or accidentally ingesting it or its battery. Priced at $29.95 Australian Dollars (that’s a little above $23 USD), the DogTag is available on Studio Proper’s website… and they’re Authorized Apple Resellers too, which means you can get yourself a collar ALONG with the AirTag for $74.95 AUD ($58 USD)

This Fitbit-inspired dog collar is on point with keeping your pet safe and healthy!

Do you wish you could track your dog’s location in case of emergencies but don’t want to embed a tracker in his or her body? The Link smart collar offers an alternative, more pet-friendly solution with its removable GPS. However, the Link is for more than emergencies – it includes features that improve your pet’s health and quality of life every day. So, what does the Link do? The collar itself holds the GPS tracker and a LED light for visibility during night walks. Additionally, with the Link companion app, the product can log your dog’s physical fitness, vet records, and other stats related to his or her health. Basically, it’s a FitBit for your pet – keeping them happy, healthy, and safe.

From a design perspective, the Link embodies a subtly luxurious aesthetic thanks to the collar’s color-scheme, construction, and a few branding choices for the packaging. First, let’s talk about the shape of the collar. Overall, the collar maintains a slender shape, even though the GPS holder is slightly bulkier. The light brown leather also looks homey and comfortable – like a well-made pair of hiking boots: expensive but durable. The branding materials (color story, font choices, and even the product packaging) help convey a charming, but expensive look. The box itself, and the way the collar is presented in the packaging, reminds me of the packaging for a high-end wristwatch. The bright colors on the packaging also complement the collar’s brown leather shade nicely. Typical dog collars are simply hung from a hook at the pet store. The Link collar, on the other hand, comes in a box that is as beautiful as the product itself.

I appreciate the care that went into the aesthetic creation of the Link as well as its branding. The device itself is a great investment for pet owners. But the care that went into its design made it an eye-catching piece that likely attracted more pet-owners to the product.

Pets For Everyone

Always wanted a pet but couldn’t have one because of allergies? We have the perfect solution for you – The Petollar. Comprising of an Air Cleaner and Collar, the device basically works at attracting animal hair (fur) and dust to the receiving unit, so as to keep the environment as allergen free as possible.

The Air Cleaner (Plusa) and Collar (Minuz) help eliminate dust, dirt and fur from the pet, working on the electrostatic theory that is found in an Ionizer. Basically the collar emits negative ions, which is absorbed by the dirt in the air and this in turn gets attracted to the positive ions emitted by the air cleaner. Sounds complicated for the moment, but I suppose if this Top 35 Entry from the 2014 Electrolux Design Lab Competition gets to the semi finals, we will know more about how it works.
