The designer’s idea may be four years old, but it can still be used, especially during this pandemic. This actually reminds us of the Ford Clint Autonomous Vehicle Interior. This time, we see an autonomous ride-sharing service that includes an app and a modular interior for future vehicles.

The system requires users to use and access the Gogo app. Your frequented locations are saved automatically within the app. This allows easier access for faster use during future rides.

Within the GOGO app, you can also view the places of your friends, family, and other contacts. In addition, you can check out new connections by linking with other social networks. The more contacts and connections, the more the app can remember and provide information that you need.

The app lets you customize passenger preferences. For example, riders can control and check who they will be paired up with. Usually, like most ride-sharing apps, Gogo connects riders that travel similar routes. Users can also select to add passengers as potential ride buddies. You can set your profile to private if you want more privacy and security.

The modular interior also allows a more customizable commuting experience. It comes with a monitor table that can hold up to the wall when you don’t need it, allowing riders to sit back and relax simply. The interior system also provides the commuters peace of mind as their stuff is secured and safe.

There are individual rail-mounted seats that slide together. The system creates a shared space for pairs or a group of four. For easier identification of one’s seat, there’s LED lighting in the seat landing on floor panels.

The Mini CarSharing concept shows how transportation must evolve along with ever-changing cities

The Mini Cooper is ostensibly a proud, Brit-made car designed for the cities… but as cities grow larger, and a growing population adds more pressure on resources, roads, and other infrastructure, transportation needs to evolve. Daniel Pokorný’s Mini City CarSharing concept shows how the tiny humble hatchback can evolve to become an icon of urban commuting.

The goal was to create a fully electric vehicle ideal for car-sharing fleets that could be easily cleaned after every use. The design integrates Mini’s values, combining a minimalist and practical interior with an exterior that highlights contemporary automotive design. Outwardly, it’s unmistakably a Mini. Aside from the fact that the Mini logo is emblazoned across the front, the car boasts of Mini-esque proportions, the signature round headlights, and a design that’s both comfortable yet compact.

The compact car sports large windows to make up for its small size, these quirky proportions lend to the car’s ‘cute’ demeanor, while also providing a nice view to the passengers on the inside. The CarSharing concept comes with an incredibly short bonnet, characterized further by a large air-intake beneath it. Daniel calls this a cognitive element that communicates the electrified nature of the car. With a minimal front overhang, the car’s front is finally made complete with two ring-shaped headlights divided by thin LED stripes, and the Mini logo.

The two-seater hatchback comes with ample boot space for luggage, making it perfect for long commutes or even journeys to and from the airport/station. The rear hatch opens up in two parts, quite like the Mini Rocketman Concept from a decade ago, giving you easy access to the back to add or remove heavy bags. The top even comes with a fin that reads ShareNow, making the car instantly identifiable from a distance… and the roof boasts a transparent design, supported by pillars that resemble the Union Jack, once again hinting at the car’s British origins.

The car’s dashboard is incredibly minimal, with a two-spoke steering wheel, a small digital instrument cluster, and a smartphone dock attached to it. The car immediately recognizes the user based on the smartphone, working almost like an authentication device that then allows the car to customize its settings according to your preferences. Additionally, since the vehicle’s more suited for constant use (given its ride-sharing nature), it features a removable/replaceable battery, so the car doesn’t need any off-time for charging.

The New Car for London is an autonomous ride hailing pod that draws inspiration from it’s architecture!

Ride-hailing autonomous vehicles are the trend for automotive manufacturers and design firms alike, given the future-forward dimension, they add to safely commuting in and around cities. Design company PriestmanGoode has also unveiled their vision of a ride-sharing self-driving vehicle specifically tailored for London and takes inspiration from the rich architectural landmarks of one of the world’s most sought out cities. More than just a vehicle to commute from point A to B that’s an hour’s distance apart, the concept turns attention to a wide variety of use case scenarios. The most intriguing scenario is as an alternate for administering basic medical aid to a person in need until the first responders arrive.

PriestmanGoode calls this ride-hailing concept the New Car for London. And as Paul Priestman, the Chairman of PriestmanGoode said in a press release – their experience in designing First Class aircraft interiors and the public transport sector has helped them create a practical blueprint of their vision for an autonomous vehicle that has future mobility at the core keeping in mind ease of maintenance. Adding the dimension of London influenced inspiration for the ride, Dan Window, the Creative Director at PriestmanGoode exclaimed that the New Car for London will coexist alongside the city’s present transportation icons – the double-decker bus and the black cab. The architectural influence is evident from the minimal geometric form of the 3.6 meters long spacious ride and its angular details. The glazing all around gives the passengers riding, feeling of airiness and a good view of the city.

The interiors are as important as the exterior and this one comes with a customizable motion actuated lamp controlled via an app to tailor the ambiance, wireless charging dock, app-controlled rotating table for the workable area, umbrella stand with integrated dryer, and more. For maximum flexibility in ride options, it’ll have two premium seats (having pull out leg rests) with enough space to keep luggage or even a bicycle. Keeping hygiene in mind, there is a hand sanitizer dispenser and integrated UV cleaning light to sanitize the interiors after every journey. For the emergency, New Car for London has an advanced first aid kit too.

Apparently, this is not the first time PriestmanGoode has ventured on the idea of a ride-hailing concept as the modular vehicle designed for Dromos unveiled in 2020 is a good example of their practical futuristic vision. The autonomous vehicle usable both as a ride-sharing vehicle and cargo hauler is currently under development and the New Car for London is the logical progression in PriestmanGoode’s progression towards a future where autonomous ride-sharing will be the norm!
