DoJ pushes Google and Apple to ID 10,000 users of a gun scope app

The US government has reportedly ordered Apple and Google to hand over the names, phone numbers and IP addresses of at least 10,000 users of a gun scope app. The data request is part of an investigation into weapons export violations, but it has priv...

Rifle-wielding Drones Are a Real Thing

Russian arms manufacturer Almaz-Ante has a quirky looking flying machine that can actually fire rounds. The “experimental prototype combat drones violator” is a drone, a rifle, offering up its brand of death from above.

The style of this drone looks like some kind of miniature WWII plane. Apparently, the rifle is an “autoloading smooth-bore” Carbine Vepr-12 Hummer, a Kalashnikov machine gun-based weapon.

As if that isn’t scary enough, its wings can be removed so it can be used as a hand-held weapon. This changes the battlefield. Imagine running out of ammo in a firefight. No problem. Call the drone in to kill the enemy from the sky or land it beside you so you can have a new rifle.

It’s pretty scary to think that this thing even exists, but imagine thousands of them in the sky being used as a sneak attack on an unsuspecting target. After they make their initial strafing run they can arm a large group of ground-pounders who can finish the job. That’s terrifying.

Fallout 4 Tesla Rifle Replica Is Truly Electric

I’m a big fan of Fallout 4 and have spent many hours playing the game. One of the weapons you might recognize from the game is this Tesla Rifle. This replica was made by and was made by Wasted Props, and looks like someone stepped right out of the game with it.

The weapon even spins and charges like it does in the game before it fires. In the center of the spinning bit is one of those Sharper Image plasma balls I used to want so bad back in the ’80s. The rifle is over 40-inches long and looks to be very well made.

Unlike many of the cool replicas we see, there are lots of videos of what exactly it took to build this thing:

So I have EMF issues with the plasma ball triggering the motor, as the wires run past the plasma ball to the arduino. When the ball is off it works fine. Shielding come at me bro!!!

Finally got to do a proper test with the plasma ball on the tesla rifle. Just need to mount up a motor to drive the rotor.

#progress !!! Used a different #speed #controller tonight and a #conservative #tune. This is looking to be the right setup for what I'm looking for. A little more #tweaking and that will do the trick.

Amazing build!

Father and Son Build Hilariously Annoying Trombone Rifle

What is the most ridiculous gun in the world? That would be this trombone gun. YouTuber CaptainQuinn and his son built this hilarious and obnoxiously loud trombone rifle about a year back. Sure, it isn’t new, but we thought we’d share because it is so fun and bizarre.

You can either shoot someone or shoot their ears out. Watch as the son puts the rifle through its paces. This kid is having way too much fun. It looks like a gun that Scrooge McDuck would use – and sounds like one too. In fact, it sounds like Scrooge McDuck is stuck inside.

It’s great for waking up the troops – or the neighbors.

Aliens M41A1 Pulse Rifle Replica: Kill the Queen

I can remember to this day how scared I was the first time I watched Aliens growing up. That movie was so cool I couldn’t look away, but I certainly didn’t sleep much that night. I remember ol’ Brown Bess from the movie, even though that rifle didn’t save the Marines.

Aliens fans can now get their hands on this officially-licensed M41A1 Pulse Rifle Brown Bess prop replica by Hollywood Collectibles Group. The impressively detailed, 5.5lb. replica was made using designs of the original hero weapons from the movie, though it has no moving parts.

The replica also ships with a tabletop display stand and reinforced metal sling attachment points. Sadly, the LED ammo counter on the side is a sticker, stuck at 95. Still, it’s pretty awesome. Only 750 pieces are available globally and it will set you back $499.99 at Entertainment Earth.

Radio Rifle Used to Disable Drones

Some people love drones, and other hate them because of privacy and safety concerns. If you are a drone hater, you are going to love this. The Battelle DroneDefender is a rifle that is designed to take over radio control of drones so you can bring them to the ground. No bullets. Just a drone that is on the ground.

It looks like a rifle, but it is the gentlest rifle you will ever see. Unless you are a drone of course. Basically it uses targeted radio waves to force drones out of the sky. It is said that it “utilizes a non-kinetic solution to defend airspace up to 400m against UAS, such as quadcopters and hexacopters, without compromising safety or risking collateral damage.” While it could definitely be used to defend property from unwanted drones, neither the FAA nor the FCC has approved its use as of yet.

It seems like it captures control and then you can steer the drone where you want it. Drone operators can’t be very happy about this. While it could definitely be used to defend property from unauthorized drones overhead, neither the FAA nor the FCC has approved its use as of yet.

Looking forward to the eventual Drone Hunters reality show.
