Samsung show off the first picture of the Galaxy S6

Samsung Galaxy s6

Forget about renders and mock-ups, with a few days to go for the MWC 2015, Samsung is now teasing their new Galaxy S6.

The official reveal for Samsung’s Galaxy S6 is jsut around the corner: it will take place during their “Unpacked” event at the Mobile World Conference 2015 on march 1st, and it will be introduced along an Edge version, just like with the Galaxy Note 4. And although information had leaked here and there, with a few really good mock ups in place, there hadn’t been any official pictures yet. That is up until Samsung’s instagram showed the picture we see illustrating this story: our first official look at the Galaxy S6.

This smartphone looks surprisingly thin, but also the lines are quite surprising and we don’t know what to make of them exactly. Hadn’t this picture had the #TheNextGalaxy hashtag, we would have thought this was an iPad. One element that we can’t quite distinguish is a protuberance in the posterior part of the Galaxy S6 for the camera lens, which had prevented it from being entirely flat. We’ll see how Samsung resolved this.

So far, we know the Galaxy S6 will be equipped with a 5.1 inch QHD screen (1.440x.2.560 pixels), a Exynos 7420 octacore processor at 2,1 GHz, 3GB DDR4 RAM, and storage that would come in two versions: 32 or 64 gigabites. Also, the main camera would be 20MP, and the front one of 5, all running Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.

Samsung get ready to unveil their newest Galaxy

Cultura Geek Samsung Galaxy 1

Samsung seem to be operating under the “new year, new galaxy” philosophy, and now that we know that a new device is coming Samsung have a new event coming to introduce it.

Samsung has started sending out invitations to their latest Unpacked event, where the company will unveil the latest model to join the Galaxy family. This event is planned for March 1st at 12:30PM ET, the same day in which HTC will show their latest model. Despite this, the biggest bit of news seems to be that future models will take a page from the Galaxy Note Edge and feature a curved screen in their main line smartphones.

A Twitter user took Samsung’s teaser images and completed them with what he thinks the new devices will look like:

In the last event of this type Samsung had unveiled the Galaxy S5 along with their latest smartwacthes and fitness bands, yet none of these ended up being the revolution they expected. This inspired the company to take a long look at their latest entries and go back to the drawing board, where they worked on fixing all the small annoyances users had been pointing out for a couple generations. Could Samsung be getting ready to get back on the top of the world? We’ll let you know by March.

Samsung might introduce the Galaxy S6 at CES 2015

Samsung CES 2015

It’s no secret that Samsung plan to jump back and fight for the top spot at the smartphone race with their next flagship release, but it might  happen sooner than expected. Maybe today.

January 6 marks the beginning of CES 2015, one of the biggest events of the year for tech fans around the world. Samsung, one of the biggest tech companies in the world and producers of the acclaimed Galaxy line of phones and tablets might take advantage of the buzz and use the event to display their upcoming Galaxy S6, also known as project Zero: a top of the line phone, with a sleek aluminum unibody with top of the line specs. There is one catch, though: as exciting as this sounds, it might only be shown to partners and not all attendants. But, rest assured, we will let you know as soon as we find out.

The Galaxy S6 line is meant to take Samsung right back to its rightful spot as innovators with a sharp edge for design, and was codenamed project Zero after the fact that the creators went back to the drawing board to correct every single detail that has bugged users in previous iterations  of the line. Rumored specs for the Galaxy S6 include a QHD Super AMOLED display, Android 5.0 Lollipop, an Exynos 7420 SoC or a Snapdragon 810 chipset, with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage.
