Drink Water Underwater!

scubar_01

Unlike other extreme activities, scuba diving is one where you can’t quench your thirst. Designed with this in mind, the Scubar makes it possible to stay hydrated even when you’re underwater! This specialized water bottle dispenses capsules made of gelatin, filled with water. Simply replace your oxygen mouthpiece with Scubar and “drink” up! The saliva soluble capsules will dissolve, delivering much needed H2O to your bod, extending the amount of time you can stay under.

Designed for the Depths

scuba_01

The Pearl Diver is a compact second-stage, scuba regulator that incorporates a streamlined aesthetic. The product was designed to be more hydrodynamic, allowing easy movement through the water when scuba diving. Its functional form incorporates two styles of streamlined design: one very curvilinear with wavy smooth surfaces and the other industrial and geometrical with hard shapes and line accents.

The placement of the hose makes for a less obstructive field of motion, moving from the side of the face, straight over the shoulder to the air supply on the back. The form also makes the bubbles flow around the back of the head when swimming to avoid getting in the way of the user’s vision.

Introducing, Octospot! It’s a compact camera (and much more!) for scuba divers everywhere. The t-rail click mounted system installs in seconds to transform your ordinary dive into one you can remember and track. In addition to images and video, the design features dive log data recording for post-dive review and it’s waterproof up to 200 meters. As for the camera itself, it captures 4k video, 15 second snap recordings, and 12 megapixel stills and uses a pressure controlled auto white balance that adjusts as you move further or closer to the water surface. After a dive, simply link it up with your computer for shareable content and an easy review of your experience!

Rebreathe Underwater

ORB is a diving helmet that uses a modern technology called “rebreathing” to recycle your own oxygen in order to breathe underwater. While most scuba equipment is heavy, bulky and uncomfortable, the lightweight unit is compact and easier to move with. The result is a relaxed and enhanced diving experience. Better yet, it’s equipped with built-in Bluetooth to communicate with other divers and socialize in the underwater environment.

Google Street View gets its first underwater panoramic images, ready for desk-based scuba expeditions

After working on its sea legs for some time, Google Street View is ready to take users on virtual scuba expeditions through six living coral reefs with the first underwater panoramic images to hit the service. In partnership with The Catlin Seaview Survey, Mountain View created the on-rails snorkeling experiences using undersea pictures from Heron, Lady Elliot and Wilson Islands at the Great Barrier Reef, Molokini Crater and Hanauma Bay in Hawaii and the Apo Islands in the Philippines. Combined with views from Chichen Itza and Teotihuacan, the new underwater tours might make for a respectable, desk-based vacation. Interested in paddling through the briny depths? Head past the break for a short preview or hit the source links below to dive right in.
