Flexible Articulated 3D-Printed Fidget Slugs

Anxiety: we all experience it. And what better way to help alleviate that feeling than with a 3D-printed, articulated fidget slug? I can’t think of anything. Granted, I’m not trying to think of anything, but I have to save my brainpower for more important things like what’s for lunch. Available from Etsy shop Nates3DPrintedGifts, these slugs are sure to be the next slap bracelets or Tamagotchi, you just watch.

Nate, who sells the slugs but didn’t design them (available to print yourself for free at Thingiverse HERE), prints them in eleven different colors (including rainbow!), and four sizes (4″, 5″, 6″, 7″), ranging in price from $13 – $27 with free shipping included. That doesn’t sound like a bad deal. Granted, I’ve never shopped for 3D-printed fidget slugs before, so I don’t really have any basis for comparison.

Well, I know what all my nieces and nephews are getting for Christmas this year. 3D printed slugs, just to be clear. Apparently, I still have some making up to do for last year since the 63-piece Craftsman tool sets didn’t go over all that well. Still, they’ll be thanking me years from now when they’re moving into their own places. Maybe then I’ll finally earn that Uncle Of The Year award I’ve been chasing.

Star Wars Space Slug Desk Organizer: The Pencil Strikes Back

Did you know the giant space slug that lived inside that asteroid in The Empire Strikes Back was called an Exogorth? Me either. You learn something new every day. Well, now you can have your very own Exogorth to keep on your desktop.

The guys at prop company Regal Robot created this awesome sculpture of the massive monster as it pokes its head out of its rocky home attempting to eat whatever might land in its gaping mouth. The resin desk organizer is based on detailed scan of the original movie prop Exogorth, and each one is meticulously handpainted. Of course what really makes it all come together is the Millennium Falcon pencil topper which makes it look like Han and Chewie’s ship is beating a hasty retreat from almost certain doom.

The Space Slug desk organizer is a really special collectible for an Star Wars fan, and is available for $99 from Regal Robot. And remember, the next time you see a cave in a science fiction movie, there’s a pretty good chance there’s a nasty creature living inside of it, so it’s probably not the best place to hide.

Wampa and Space Slug Snow Globes: From The Empire Strikes Back Souvenir Shop

Despite numerous Star Wars films being released in the 3+ decades since its release, The Empire Strikes Back is still the best movie in the saga for many of us. Sure, The Force Awakens was very good, but it’s a tall hill to climb to best the 1980 classic.

In recognition of this fact, ThinkGeek has released a couple of fun Episode V collectible snow globes, and they’re both pretty awesome. First up is the Wampa Cave snow globe.

It recreates a the classic scene in an icy cave on Hoth, as Luke hangs upside-down by his boots, while he attempts to use the Force to pull his lightsaber from the snow. He eventually breaks free, and slices off the wampa’s arm, but in the snow globe version, he’s permanently stuck in the ceiling, and isn’t going anywhere. At least unless you crack it open with a hammer – which I don’t recommend.

The other scene isn’t quite as snow-appropriate, but nonetheless is just as awesome – as the Millennium Falcon breaks free from giant Exogorth Space Slug. This is no cave! But we’re still trapped in a giant snow globe!

Both Empire Strikes Back snow globes are available exclusively from ThinkGeek. The wampa cave is going for $39.99, while the space slug is just $19.99, but has a much smaller snow globe.

Slug and Snail Earbuds Pump up the Volume, and Grossness

These slug and snail earbuds are pretty clever, but also pretty gross. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want any slugs or snails sticking their heads in my ear and whispering sweet nothings when music isn’t playing. And shouldn’t the cords be slimy snail trails? I guess they couldn’t get that detail.

These clever and creative earbuds were created by artist Klára Pernicová. If you like the idea of slugs crawling into your ear, they are sadly not for sale. You could always make some for yourself, but they probably won’t be this detailed and weird. If you do, keep them in a salt-free environment.
