LEGO Star Lord Helmet-shaped pen stand comes right at the heels of the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie

Launched just a week before the new Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 drops, this adorably functional build from LEGO also doubles up as a stationery holder and pen stand for your desk. The iconic headgear sits on a platform with a label underneath, measuring 7 inches in height and comprising 602 pieces. Even with as few bricks as that, the helmet looks impressively similar to the original, with everything from those red-tinted eyepieces to the valves on the face mask that helps Peter Quill breathe in outer space.

Designer: LEGO

The Star Lord Helmet is suitable for all ages above 18, keeping somewhat in line with the movie’s adult rating too. The helmet forms a part of LEGO’s existing Infinity Saga series, which also includes Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet, among other Marvel Cinematic Universe objects and characters. The building process is quick and incredibly satisfying, and at the end, you’re left with a finished product that not only serves as a collectible, but also as a functional device, helping you store things inside the helmet’s hollow space, including stationery, cables, or even EDC like your AirPods.

Aside from building the Star Lord Helmet in real life, you can build it in 3D on the LEGO builder app too, helping you visually understand which pieces go where, and track your progress as you follow the virtual building instructions. Once over, you can even rotate the 3D build to examine it from every angle, comparing it to your own DIY LEGO construction.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 hits theaters on May 5th, 2023.

Star-Lord’s Walkman Isn’t a Walkman at All

One of the coolest things in Guardians of the Galaxy is the retro soundtrack that Peter Quill plays on an old ’80s Sony TPS-L2 Walkman. If you missed the ’80s, you can still get one without having to resort to eBay. Sorta. This gadget may look vaguely like Star-Lord’s portable cassette player, but alas it’s not a real Walkman.

This Phony Fauxman is not made by Sony, and it doesn’t play cassette tapes. It’s actually a small speaker that’s designed to play your music from whatever device you carry, like MP3 players and smartphones. You have to plug in your audio source via its audio jack though. It’s too bad it doesn’t support Bluetooth. It has digital voice recording capability and can transform your voice too. It’s also got the song Come a Little Bit Closer – from the Guardians Vol. 2 soundtrack built in.

While it’s nothing like the real deal, it does sell for way less than the crazy $500+ prices people are asking for on eBay for an original TPS-L2 Walkman. The Star-Lord Walkman is available for $29.99(USD) from ThinkGeek.

Star-Lord Hooded T-Shirt and LED Mask

First I have to say, as cool as the idea of a Star-Lord Hooded T-Shirt and Mask is, this just looks kinda creepy. It’s like Star-Lord’s evil twin has shown up from some hell-dimension. Any kids who looked up to Star-Lord are going to be terrified this Halloween.

The hood is actually the “helmet” which features light-up LED eyes, and you can turn the mask’s lights on and off with a toggle switch. This shirt/hoodie combo is made of 60% cotton and 40% polyester, and is 200% zombie Peter Quill. Though he’s looking pretty scary and a little sad.

If you don’t mind scaring a bunch of people and making them feel awkward, you can get it for only $34.99(USD) from ThinkGeek.

If you were one of the masses who were completely blown away by Guardians of the Galaxy, then you probably want your own Star-Lord helmet. I know. Me too. Here’s some good news. You can make one.

YouTuber AlwaysTimsTime created this Star-Lord helmet from EVA foam, with the help of design files from TheRPF member Helagak. Pretty awesome no? If that isn’t enough, Helegak also also made a model of Peter Quill’s gun.

Here are the print files, which are available for 3D printing, foam sculpting or paper folding. Now go make one and then we can all get together and form a million man Star-Lord squad.
