Star Wars TIE Advanced x1 Watch Winder keeps any automatic watch going all the time

TIE Advanced x1 Watch Winder

The TIE Fighter is perhaps one of the most distinguishable fictional spacecraft in the Star Wars universe. You see one, and you know it’s something related to the Galactic Republic, but you would still recognize it even if you’re not a fan of the epic franchise. With hundreds to thousands of Star Wars-inspired creations worldwide, it may be challenging to track them all, but some items make a remarkable impression, especially if they have special functions. We don’t want any more useless stuff, so if we are presented with a new object like a sculpture, it better be functional. If it is a furniture item, it should have another function, so the effort isn’t wasted, so multi-functional items are very much appreciated by those who want to keep their lives compact, minimalist, and small.

Kross Studio TIE Advanced x1 Watch Winder 3

Kross Studio is a relatively new company, but it has been introducing exciting products from several collaborations. The Studio’s identity includes collaboration as an integral part of the business, and so far, its partnerships have been successful. We remember that 1989 Batmobile Desk Clock as the perfect sidekick to a geeky desk setup. Star Wars fans will never forget the Death Star Watch and the Boba Fett Tourbillon Watch and today, we’re showing you the TIE Advanced x1 Watch Winder, described as the next chapter of the brand’s Star Wires-inspired collaboration.

Kross Studio TIE Advanced x1 Watch Winder 4

The latest collectible is functional but is available in a limited release only, but the dark universe-inspired TIE Advanced x1 watch winding sculpture can be considered a magnificent piece of art by hardcore Star Wars fans. However, it is mainly a watch winder in its solid aluminum glory with an integrated winding engine to keep an automatic watch always running even when not worn. This operational art object weighs 4kgs and measures 20cm long, 28cm wide, and 17cm high—made from a solid black anodized aluminum.

Kross Studio TIE Advanced x1 Watch Winder 2

Kross Studio is known for its excellent design and manufacturing skills, which are clearly evident in the TIE Advanced x1 Watch Winder. The functional sculpture has been machined, finished, and assembled in-house, resulting in a piece that harnesses the force of movement to keep any automatic watch going while within the capsule. The Kross Studio TIE Advanced x1-inspired watch winder sculpture is activated when an infrared sensor detects a watch. It stays in standby mode if there is no watch available to conserve energy, but the battery can last for more than two years. If you need to change the batteries, you may need to use a key inspired by the Galactic Empire.

Kross Studio TIE Advanced x1 Watch Winder

Everything about the TIE Advanced x1 watch winder proves Kross Studio’s principles when it comes to disruptive design. The studio has big collaborations and ambitions that have been successful since its launch in 2020 in the middle of the pandemic. This watch winder is no different and we believe more projects with other franchises will be introduced by Kross Studio.

This millennium falcon inspired gaming mouse proves that minimal design can be badass

There’s no other ship in the history of science fiction that has a bigger following than the Millennium Falcon. Now we don’t have the luxury of laying our hands on it as Solo did by tricking Lando Calrissian in a card game, we have the luck to get our hands on Mouse-1, our sidekick as we step into the gaming realm with this LED enabled accessory on our side.

Meet the Mouse-1, a wireless gaming mouse that is futuristic yet hipster in one neat minimal package. The Mouse-1 was designed as an answer to the gamut of RGB-enabled gaming mouse designs that have flooded the market. Afterall, who says that minimalistic design cannot be badass! The designer, Jake Lee, was inspired by his love of sci-fi games as well as Air Jordans while designing this piece. As Jake explains, “The goal was to design a mouse that carries the gaming DNA in a more subtle and minimalist manner. There are so many gaming mice that scream rainbow RGB lighting with complex programmable buttons that contribute to their maximalist appearance. Mouse-1’s aesthetics is intentionally aimed at those who pursue a minimalist gaming setup.”

The devil is in the details and that adage remains for Mouse-1. The speckled white and black texture creates an interesting base on which the entire structure is based. White lights adorn 2 sides of the mouse, the back as well as the scroll wheel. But the real beauty is in the gradation of the lights. This was achieved by a translucent polycarbonate rear bumper that diffuses this halftone patterned LED light. If white is not your color, the light can be customized with various third-party lighting apps.

Apple’s iMac launch with its 7 color options has shaken up the tech world, and as the trendsetters, we know this pattern will be taken up by more retailers. Nonetheless, a classic piece like the Mouse-1 will never go out of style. Best of all, they have a black version that is perfect for a dark room setup – that’s more like mine!

Star Wars-inspired designs for May the 4th we wish Disney would make already!

Every year, the 4th of May is celebrated as Star Wars Day! It’s a day widely celebrated by nerds, sci-fi fans, and movie buffs in honor of the iconic series. On this exciting day, you can nerd out, and show off your love for Star Wars, without any judgment. And we’re here to help you! We’ve curated a collection of super cool Star Wars-inspired product designs for this very special day. These concepts capture the true essence of the phenomenon that is Star Wars. May the Fourth be with you! Enjoy.

Tamás Jakus’ Equus Kylo bike celebrates the malevolent dark force that is Kylo Ren. The bike comes in a signature black paint job complete with Kylo Ren’s ‘logo’ on the side of the vehicle between two wheels, and a headlight that looks directly inspired by Ren’s own helmet. Just like the helmet, the bike’s headlight sports multiple chrome strips that travel horizontally before extending down the sides, giving the bike its signature piercing glare… and if that wasn’t enough, there’s even an illuminated red bird logo on the side that looks like a wonderful abstraction of Kylo Ren’s lightsaber.

Although one wouldn’t imagine Lord Commander Vader to drive around the Death Star in one of these vehicles (keen Star Wars fans would even point out that none of the vehicles in Star Wars even have tires, to begin with), this Custom 60′ Porsche 356 RSR seems to perfectly capture Darth Vader’s inner spirit, with its matte-black bodywork and Vader-esque trims on the front as well as the back. The Vadermobile (sounds like an apt name, no?) was the result of a 4-year project of reimagining a Porsche 1960 356B T5 coupe, by adding a hand-formed removable aluminum tail and nose details that take heavy inspiration from the Dark Lord’s black suit, along with a one-piece aluminum hood with an oil cooler air outlet, and stainless mesh grills for the cooling ducts, giving the car it’s signature dark-side appeal. The car’s paint job is bespoke too, a matte finish that Emory calls Meteorite Matte Metallic.

Sourcing his inspiration from sci-fi movies like Star Wars, Alex Casabò conceptualized in 3D, his own interpretation of what he calls, a “really fast sci-fi SSD,” bringing a traditional SSD and taking it to new heights, perhaps even new galaxies, with a distinct, rugged exterior and lightning-fast drive. Casabò’s SSD concept looks lived-in like it’s headed straight for Crait. SSDs, which rely on flash memory to keep things moving and storage processed, are known for their low read-access time and fast throughputs. Conversely, other storage devices like hard disks store a computer’s memory on mechanical hard drives and generally move a lot slower. Opting for a more futuristic, cyberpunk aesthetic for his digital SSD conceptualization makes sense since faster speeds indicate technological advancements and go hand in hand with a future world that might look eerily familiar to sci-fi films we grew up watching.

Brazilian designer Vinicius Gasparete has given all of us fans the collectible watch of our dreams, or maybe this is what lightsabers look like in 2020? Let’s be real, no one can keep a track of time in quarantine so a watch is truly mightier than a saber right now. Gasparete designed this incredible G-Shock as a part of a challenge in the course he was taking at the Vida de Motion School. The concept is well-aligned with the global brand known for its sporty, masculine aesthetic built on its ethos of ‘absolute toughness’. But it pays equal homage to the details and elements of the Star Wars universe. This G-Shock balances both sides with a mastery that makes you believe that it is powered by the force (and maybe it is?).

The Alhazen lamp is a play on the Lightsaber and uses acrylic optics to disperse light, much like most lightsaber toys and prototypes do. Designed by Saif Faisal who wanted a lamp that was both cool and practical at the same time, the Alhazen takes the lightsaber and changes a few key details to make it look like a prop from Star Wars, but also have a character of its own. The lamp is made from a wooden base that holds the lighting element, and the lighting element itself, comprising a handle, a hollow acrylic tube with an LED strip, and an acrylic plug that sits on the top. Switch the LEDs on and the frosted acrylic diffuses them, while its edge-lighting properties allow it to glow from top to bottom as a lightsaber does.

Nadeem Hussain, a United Kingdom-based designer, recently rendered a smart assistant robot that was inspired by BB-8 from Star Wars for Render Weekly’s Instagram showcase. Sometimes the most eye-catching designs find their inspiration from well-known film and television characters. If the designer channels their inspiration well, then the final product won’t be a spitting image of that character, but a gentle reminder of how art forms are inherently interconnected. When design feels inspired by something as iconic as Star Wars, the tricky part doesn’t have to do with imitating the franchise’s original creativity, but with evoking a feeling of familiarity. Hussain’s render of a new smart assistant is as charming and functional as Star Wars’ BB-8 robot but resembles a futuristic robot that might reside elsewhere in the intergalactic universe.

The world is going Star Wars crazy this year, and they have every reason to be. With the franchise getting better and better, it’s no surprise that we keep getting an excitingly diverse range of Star Wars-inspired goodies – this one in the form of Animal Stormtrooper Helmets by William Kang. Gorgeously fabricated, the helmets are given a rigorous process from sketches to CAD to quick renders, to sketches to CAD to quick renders, and again until the design is ready to be physically constructed. Each helmet can take a couple of months to make but so delicately and intricately detailed it’s hard to believe these helmets are not renders. The materials and finishing choices here make these helmets a work of art, something worthy of a museum piece.

With the title of the Stormtrooper Clock, Guillaume Saussey’s timepiece design is simple both in color and in form. With the classic black and white Stormtrooper aesthetic from Star Wars, the clock uses black-on-white contrast to create dynamism, while keeping the clock’s working foolishly simple… much like the troopers themselves. To complete the Stormtrooper aesthetic, the clock even has a logo on the back inspired by the Stormtrooper uniform! The way the clock works is rather simple too. Three circles at the 3 o’clock position denote the time by displaying the hour, minute, and second values accordingly. Numbered discs on the inside rotate as time progresses, while the circular holes on the clock’s face give you a clear indication of the time.

50% impossible, 50% real vehicle, and 100% awesomeness, the Apocalyptic Vehicle series by Jomar Machado gives us a taste of what our rides would look like if the world collapsed into collective chaos. An early adopter of 3D modeling (back in 1994), Machado became a master of his craft. His love for the art and production of films like Star Trek, Stars Wars, Babylon 5, Dune, and Blade Runner helped him develop a distinct style, something very evident from his current work. The vehicles below (and above) combine real cars with impossible technology and military-grade weapons to give us something that looks right out of Death Race, or Carmageddon, or Mad Max (but less dusty).

Sometimes I see conceptual designs and I want them so bad, fully knowing they don’t exist. The Star Wars lamps by Eyal Rosenthal are conceptual lamps inspired by our favorite Star Wars characters. These were originally launched as an April Fool’s prank, but ever since then, Eyal has been bombarded with requests from people who desperately want to buy these geeky/cool lamps.

Star Wars Inspired Lighting More Powerful Than the Dark Side

Star Wars Inspired Lighting Fixtures

Lighting up your house with a geeky lamp? Cool. Lighting up your house with Star Wars lamps?Very cool! Star Wars fans you are going to LOVE this one.  An Israeli artist Eyal Rosenthal woke up one day and decided to create something awesome, Star Wars kind of awesome.

Eyal aimed to create lamps that you would put in your home, designing it while being influenced by the Scandinavian minimalist style and of course, the Star Wars movies. I think that we’ll all agree he totally nailed it.

In his work he managed to capture in each lamp the essence of the character it’s modelled after, while keeping it super stylish and modern. Star Wars is always a trendy topic. We always love to find creative mashups, fan art, merchandise and of course inspired designs. We would gladly step into the dark side with these lamps lighting our way. Staying true to the Scandinavian influence, he even gave the lamps Swedish names as close as possible to the original character’s name. Pretty much IKEA meets Star Wars.

I’m sure that by now you are wondering where and how you can get one of these bad boys. So sorry to disappoint you, but these lamps are currently just concept art, nothing more.We can only hope that one day they will get to light up our living room with one of these.

C-3PO Electric Guitar

Buy him for $499 to make beautiful music, or just hang it on a wall.

AT-AT Storage Unit

It’s hard to describe the charm of the giant, clumsy AT-ATs, but they seem cute and useful no matter how you use them. This storage unit is made out of birch ply and is a great way to geek up your room and find space for your stuff. Buy it for $995

One of the more original and creative ideas on this list: A bass guitar modeled after the coolest ship on the Galaxy, the Millennium Falcon, which is supposed to be the ultimate smuggler’s ship, but ends up being a major part of the rebellion against the empire, which is what rock n’ roll is all about, isn’t it? Buy it for $764.76

R2D2 Engagement Ring

Some people connect their love with their harmless Star Wars obsession, or maybe your significant other is a Star Wars fan. If that’s the case, this beautiful blue & white R2D2 engagement ring with Swarovski diamonds and sapphires might be perfect to set up your wedding. It costs $649.99

Grey-Gold R2D2 Engagement Ring

While this has very little to do with R2D2 (some blue here and there), this droid ring is still stunning, made out of an ounce 14kt hypoallergenic grey gold, Colorless and VS to VVS ideal cut diamonds, the finest genuine blue sapphires available, and precious black rhodium antiquing. At $8,409 it’s not for the cheap or poor at heart.
