Iron Studios Dungeons & Dragons Tiamat Demi Statue: Literal Fivehead

Iron Studios has a treat for die-hard and deep-pocketed Dungeons & Dragons fans. The figure maker’s 1/20-scale Tiamat Demi statue features the legendary tabletop RPG monster as it was depicted in the franchise’s 1980s cartoon. Naturally, the statue also includes figurines of the cartoon’s six protagonists: Hank, Diana, Shiela, Eric, Presto, and Bobby (and Bobby’s pet Uni).

Each statue is primarily made of polystone that’s been handpainted. It stands at a towering 22″ tall and weighs 40 freaking pounds.

My only gripe with the figure is that you can see the gaps between the pieces if you look closely. But this is probably going on a shelf to be admired far from greasy fingers, that shouldn’t be a big concern. You can pre-order the statue from Iron Studios for $1,400 (USD).

Eddie Munster Statue Is Creepy and Kooky

Growing up, it would get really boring about 1.75 days into summer break, and I would be looking for anything to do. Since we lived in a rural area with literally nothing to do, that meant lots of daytime TV. That also meant lots of reruns of old shows from the ’60s and ’70s. One that I watched but didn’t really like because it was too creepy for me was The Munsters.

Eddie Munster bothered me the most for some reason. I figured he would smile at you and let you play with is wolfman doll right up until he murdered you and drank all your blood. If you’re not too creeped out by this thought, Tweeterhead’s Eddie Munster statue could be a nice addition to your toy collection.

The 6.5″ tall statue comes with the pale green-faced Eddie, along with his wolfman doll and an old black and white TV for him to watch. The figure is on sale at Entertainment Earth right now for $179(USD).

He still looks like he is trying to decide if he wants to eat your left or right eye first.

40 Giant Presidents Watch a Game of Chess

Did you know that about 150 miles south of Washington D.C., there’s an army of giant presidents just sitting there on somebody’s farm? Now you do. Apparently, these 20-foot-tall presidential busts were created for a defunct theme park, and now reside outside of Williamsburg, Virginia on a private farm.

In this series of cool photos from the folks at Red Bull, U.S. Chess Champion Hikaru Nakamura contemplates his next move as the 43 weathered bigheads look on.

While I was hoping that Hikaru would figure out a way to play using the statues as giant chess pieces, instead he’s playing on a regular board. The closest he got was this awesome fixed-perspective shot by photographer Ben Franke.

Speaking of chess, the game has reached new heights of popularity in recent years, and Team USA now holds the Gold Medal at the recent Chess Olympiad as well as World Chess Champion titles – a feat not accomplished in over 40 years. If you’re into chess, you can track Hikaru’s preparations for the upcoming Saint Louis Rapid Event on his Twitter feed.

In the meantime, I’ll be scouring Google Maps‘ satellite imagery to try and find these giant presidents from the air.
