Plushie Animal Chairs: Stuffed Animal Seating

Because who hasn’t dreamed of sitting on a chair made of stuffed animals, AP Collection is selling a line of seating upholstered in numerous stuffed animals. There are monkeys, chameleons, dogs, panda bears, and woodland creatures – you name it! All for your butt to enjoy. I have a feeling Cruella de Vil is going to be all over this collection.

Each of the chairs is a limited edition of 30 to 100, and there aren’t any prices listed on the website, so you can rest assured they cost a pretty penny. I suggest making your own for cheaper by taking a trip to Home Depot for lumber, then to the arcade to pump money in a claw machine until you’ve collected at least fifty stuffed animals. Actually… maybe it won’t be cheaper.

You know what I’d really like to see? A collection of chairs made out of valuable Beanie Babies to make them even MORE exclusive. Crazy rich people would buy them. I know I would if I were crazy and rich. I’m not, though, so I just occasionally sit on a pile of my dog’s toys and pretend.

Amagami Ham Ham, A Plushie That Nibbles Your Fingers

Amagami Ham Ham is a plush toy that nibbles the end of your fingers when you stick them in its mouth. Apparently, that’s supposed to be comforting. Personally, I find that the opposite of comforting, but that’s just me, and I was raised on a crocodile farm. There was no nibbling, only death or dismemberment.

Recently on display at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2022 in Las Vegas, the 8-inch Amagami Ham Ham (Amagami means soft bite in Japanese, and ham means bite as well) will be available in both dog (Kotaru) and cat (Yuzu) varieties, so you can have your fingers nibbled by your pet of choice. They feature 24 different bite styles, which they deliver at random, including “Tasting HAM, Holding Tight HAM, and Massaging HAM.” I… don’t like the sound of any of those.

Yukai Engineering and Liv Heart Corporation, the companies responsible for the toy, plan to go live with a crowdfunding campaign in early 2022, so stay tuned to the official website if you’re interested. Still, I think we can all agree Teddy Ruxpin did it first, even if it was accidental. Sure he may have just been trying to read me a bedtime story, but that didn’t stop me from jamming my fingers in his mouth trying to get him to stutter. He never did miss a beat, though; I’ll give him that.

This Beanbag Chair Is Designed to Be Filled with Stuffed Animals

Because who has room in their home for a beanbag chair AND a pile of stuffed animals, Creative QT designed the Stuff ‘n Sit stuffed animal storage beanbag chair. So it’s not really a beanbag chair, is it? It’s more a stuffed animal chair. Or, even more accurately, an empty piece of zippered fabric.

Available in three different models (27″ toddler, which holds about one laundry basket of stuffed animals, 33″ large which holds two, and 38″ extra-large which holds around three), prices range from $24 – $35 (affiliate link) depending on size and exterior pattern. The company also encourages you think outside the bag and not just fill the chair with stuffed animals, but also unused dress-up clothes, towels, blankets, and extra pillows. Cookies and candy? Probably not.

Granted it’s probably not the best idea to fill the chair up with action figures, but they’re all I could find. As a matter of fact, I’ve already got it about half-filled. I mean I’m really not sure why my roommate kept all these original Star Wars action figures in their packages anyway.

Horsey Rides Just Got More Fun

horsey-stuffed-horse-toy

Kids, they’ll believe just about anything you tell them. It’s cute, but what if you could make your stories even more believable? The Hoppe Hoppe Reiter 2.0 is a stuffed horse head with straps; tie it to your knee and turn your leg into a somewhat more realistic looking horse for your kid. Then those horsey rides on your knee will be even cooler, and you’ll spend even more time getting annoyed that you introduced this toy to you child since he won’t stop asking you for more. It’s fun and all, but I’m not sure I’d be wanting to pay €34.95 (or roughly $38USD) for a stuffed toy. Then again, I’m not a fan of children in general, so perhaps a more fatherly type might be more inclined.

Star Wars Stuffed Animals Keep You Warm at Night

We have seen plenty of plush toys from the Star Wars universe. The last time we talked Star Wars stuffed items, said stuffies were of spacecraft from the movies. This time out we get actual stuffed animals, assuming Jabba the Hutt is some sort of an animal.

There are six different creatures to choose from including a Wampa, Bantha, Tauntaun, Rancor, Dewback, and the aforementioned Hutt. I’m not sure how you can make Star Wars stuffed animals and not include an Ewok in the mix.

The Rancor is sort of cute as is the Wampa. My favorite is the Tauntaun, which doesn’t stink if you use it to stay warm on those cold Hoth nights. You can get any of the six characters for $14.99(USD) at ThinkGeek.

Plush Peeps

This Easter I’d like to give a shoutout to all my peeps. Especially those soft cuddly ones, you know who you are. I’m talking about my Plush Peeps Plush Peeps. They have all the adorableness of regular Peeps but none of the calories. Dentist approved. The best part is that they come in a little pack of 4 in a normal Peeps box. Here’s a closeup:

So sweet, Springtime plushness. You can choose chicks or bunnies. Each peep is 3″ tall and filled with cute. Would look great in your teeth-friendly Easter basket. They’ll definitely last a whole lot longer than a box of regular marshmallow Peeps.

Stuffed Toys Alive! replaces mechanical limbs with strings for a much softer feel (hands-on)

Stuffed Toys Alive! replaces mechanical limbs with strings for a much softer feel handson

It worked just fine for Pinocchio, so why not animatronic stuffed bears? A group of researchers from the Tokyo University of Technology are on hand at SIGGRAPH's Emerging Technologies section this week to demonstrate "Stuffed Toys Alive!," a new type of interactive toy that replaces the rigid plastic infrastructure used today with a seemingly simple string pulley-based solution. Several strings are installed at different points within each of the cuddly gadget's limbs, then attached to a motor that pulls the strings to move the fuzzy guy's arms while also registering feedback, letting it respond to touch as well. There's not much more to it than that -- the project is ingenious but also quite simple, and it's certain to be a hit amongst youngsters. The obligatory creepy hands-on video is waiting just past the break.
