This no-spill couch buddy with a gyroscope is your ultimate weekend essential!

Many of us are still home, which means our plans include bingeing Netflix and a snack marathon! After the week we have had, our couch is what bears the brunt of our weekends – as we go from eating, watching, talking, and even sleeping on the couch. The tons of stains and crumbs that litter your couch pockets (unless you can maintain a Monic Geller level of cleanliness zeal) are a testament to every spill-filled journey we’ve shared with our couch. That is until we met Couch Console.

Couch Console is all you need to have a productive binge/snack session – no more trying to balance your chips, drinks, and remote! The designer did tons of ideating and mockups before settling on a modular couch buddy that holds everything for you while chilling to the max (can we bring back chillax?). Couch Console’s core pillars are simple geometry and clear functionality. The main attraction is the cupholder that has a mechanical gyroscope with a counterweight that ensures your drink stays still even on uneven surfaces – you don’t have to sit upright anymore, get comfy! The cupholder’s size fits most glasses and even comes with a lock for some added security. The console comes with a nifty little compartment that holds your knick-knacks out of sight. Always wonder where did you leave your glasses? Now you have a dedicated compartment and holds your glasses for an uninterrupted TV viewing experience. The other components are a snack holder, phone stand, charging dock, and a dedicated remote tray – everything you need for an uninterrupted binge session.

The Couch Console would be the perfect gift for Joey and Chandler to go with their Barca loungers! And till we can get a reclining, plushy seat to keep us comfortable – the Couch Console will keep your current resting place clean and keep your precious drinls from spilling. Afterall who wants to clean up after a day spent relaxing!

The gyroscope system ensures your cup will stay in a vertical position no matter how uneven or soft the surface you put the Couch Console on is. The Cup Holder will fit most standard glasses, and you can also lock the system.

2

To get the most out of it, we made the modules independent from one another so you can customize the layout just the way you like it. Are you having two types of beverages? Just add two cup modules. Need to store more items? Just put the cup in the snack module and use the spacer to divide it accordingly.

3

The Couch Console has a USB C plug on top. The USB C hub goes directly to the storage space where you can connect any external battery you have. We didn’t include a battery because most of us already have external batteries we can use, and it would unnecessarily increase the cost of the product.

4

Cables, batteries, evens snacks don’t have to stay scattered anymore – we’ve incorporated a generous storage area in the couch console where you can store all the essentials you need close by.

Bringing Lego logic to computer games

How do you cater to a gamer who wants to build Minecraft worlds one day and then the next day, race in an F1 car, and then the third day, explore the open world of Skyrim? Modularity. Sushant Vohra developed the EXEO series of plug-together-and-play gaming controllers last year and noe the EXEO 2.0 refines that concept. Retaining the three pillars of controller design, the Velox, Brutus, and Terra, Sushant decided to refine them, visually and ergonomically, sticking to the core design, but making each product slightly slimmer, and with more character. They still snap together, allowing you to build more complex controllers from rifles, to bazookas, to steering wheels or hockey sticks.

It’s nice to see Sushant develop his vision into something so concrete. That’s how Phonebloks gained traction and became Google’s famed Project Ara. Will we see EXEO change the way we play games? I sincerely hope so! Imagine building your own weapons and gear (customized according to the nature of your game) and playing with them in VR! The possibilities and opportunities seem truly endless!

Not your regular kind of gaming mod!

exeo_1

I’m telling you, we may have accidentally (we’re not sorry) triggered a modularity revolution! There’s absolutely no shortage of modular concepts and if nothing, we’ve seen more than a fair share in the past few weeks (take for example this modular microphone concept, or these modular shoes that we love, or even this DIY modular smartphone).

The EXEO is the next in the series of “things made modular”. This series of concept controllers for console gaming are designed to be used individually as Nintendo Wii-esque hand-held modules. Designed for separate purposes, the Velox, Brutus, and Terra make rather useful controllers for various scenarios. However, things get interesting when they pair up, allowing you to make more complex instruments of gaming, from bike-handlebars, to an F1 steering wheel, to a joypad, and to even a massive plasma shotgun. My personal favorite however is the assembly for archery, that uses 3 Velox modules and one Brutus module.

All modules smartly fit into one another, recognizing what they’re being crafted into when you plug them together. Not only do they come with controls on them, they even include feedback lights, that totally uplift your gaming experience. Let’s hope Nintendo makes this dream come true!

This Lamp’s All Touchy-Feely!

elvis_00

We’ve lots all physical connection with our lights! Whether it’s from a button, switch, or a smartphone, we’re remotely controlling the light whereas before people had to touch it. ELVIS is an ambient light that introduces an entirely new (old) way of interacting with lights, emphasizing on this feeling of touch.

Ambient lights themselves are tasked with stimulating mood – they are as personal as lights will get to humans. ELVIS aims to build on this personal interaction and provides a multi sensory ambient experience by creating a new user-product relationship developed through touching and sliding the light itself. The brightness of the light can be adjusted by sliding the front panel up or down. Maximum brightness can makes ELVIS a reading light whereas minimum brightness will make it a night lamp. The front panel is housed with a soft fabric to further enhance the feeling of touch.

Where there is light, there is shadow.

divided_00

Divided/By watch is inspired by the natural phenomenon of light and shadow. It applies this relationship to form the simplest way of displaying time.

No dials, no digital interface… instead, the design represents time through elevated contours. A soft woven fabric conceals the mechanism inside simply allowing the user to identify time through the shape and size of the risen contours. This way the time is showcased in the most minimal form – with light and shadow!
