There’s a boldness but a prevalence of sense in the Timekeeper, very comparable to the German designer’s work at Braun. Designed by Teslim Alabi & Princewill Esekhile, the Timekeeper is just pragmatic, all the way from its name, to its informative dial, and its use of traditional shapes, fonts, and layouts, but there’s still something beautifully different about how they come together in a way that’s modern. Designed for the contemporary watch-lover, Timekeeper is simple and sensible. It has the demeanor of an adult, with a carefree side too, thanks to the use of colors, and the variants with the NATO strap that bring about the watch’s sporty side.
The 41mm watch comes with a classic dial, complete with three rounds of markings (one for the minutes, one for 12 hours, and another going from 13-24 hours). Its seconds hand resides within the watch’s subdial, which helps add character to the watch, even with how the subdial sports a different color in its Navy Blue and Orange variant. The Timekeeper comes with a 316L stainless steel body, famously used in most wristwatches, a sapphire crystal on the top (complete with an anti-reflective coating), and a Swiss-made gold-plated Ronda Quartz movement on the inside. Everything about the watch says ‘modern classic’, right from its form, to its small but legible markings, to the subdial, to even the straps, that come made from Italian leather. With a thickness of just 10mm, I could totally imagine Dieter marveling at the simplicity and sensibility of the Timekeeper’s design.
The Timekeeper comes in both white as well as black dials, with a black Italian leather strap to match, but our favorite is its unhinged, slightly cooler cousin, available in Navy Blue, with a bright Orange subdial, complete with a matching NATO-style woven strap for the watch-aficionado who loves a splash of color with their daily dose of good design!
