This washing machine tilts open so no need to bend and makes doing laundry super easy!

Did you know that automatic washing machines can’t be placed vertically like dryers even though that setup is trending in new apartment layouts? Placing them vertically makes it difficult to use in areas with limited floor space. So to solve this functional interior design problem, Hyun Yeol Shin designed Tilt, a washing machine that can be installed freely (horizontally and vertically) and the best part is how the laundry tank tilts towards you so no more crazy bending or squatting!

Tilt’s innovative design makes it easier to put in and remove laundry out, especially for those who may already suffer from aches, pains, or minor mobility issues that make laundry more difficult than it should be. Drum washing machines are inconvenient and with Tilt, you can have washing performance of automatic washing machines, shorter washing time than drums, cleaner washing machines due to contamination, and it can be arranged vertically! Tilt can be set up in the same environment as the dryer due to narrow laundry rooms are no more a problem and neither is moving around to do laundry.

It definitely makes it easier for pregnant women and for younger kids to get involved in helping out without having to use tongs to take the laundry out. The tilting mechanism of the door makes it easy for anyone to do laundry. It maximizes space utilization and the replaceable panel design allows you to choose based on your space. I am a personal fan because there have been multiple incidents where I have squatted down to take the laundry out to put it in the dryer above and hit my head on the dryer’s door in the process – thanks to design’s like Tilt, I’ll save space, won’t have to bend and my head will remain bump-free!

When Lamp and Switch become one

ezgif-5-4ce5f2a8a9

Ed Heritage’s Roll and Tilt lamps explore a unique interaction. The lamps don’t have switches, but rather ARE switches. Designed with a seesaw-esque base, the lamps literally tilt backwards and forwards. The minute the side with the light on it touches the base, it lights up, indicating that the light has been switched on. In doing so, the lamp removes the switch, or rather removes the concept of a boring switch that usually can be a jarring design detail that doesn’t go well with the rest of the product. By reinventing that flip-on-flip-off interaction into something that’s more playful, the Roll and Tilt lamps become much more interesting lighting solutions!

Four wheels, infinite possibilities

In theory, the 900 GS AWD Hybrid Adventure Quad (yes, it’s quite a mouthful) is a quad bike, but its unique suspension makes it much more. With four wheels and what the company has termed as ‘Leaning Suspension’, the Hybrid Adventure Quad is literally made for any terrain. No matter the quality, or even the tilt, the Hybrid Adventure Quad can find its way through.

The Leaning Suspension allows the quad to lean as far as 55° while still driving. The wheels have a unique way of flexing and tilting to accommodate the lean, and each wheel can perform the leaning action individually, allowing you to drive the quad on extremely slanted terrains, bumpy roads, and even over certain obstacles, without the driver feeling so much as a bump.

Developed to mimic the way animals run, the active suspension technology developed by WESLL “initiates roll by applying a camber torque to all four wheels through center mass c.g. shift”. This lets the bike navigate through obstacles even at high speeds while still resulting in a smooth ride. Couple that with a titanium construction for the suspension system and you’ve got a bike that can take on any sort of terrain, on or off the road, in the rain, snow, mud or side hills, without breaking a sweat!

A case/stand that multi-tasks, like your iPad!

tilt_ipad_case_1

The remarkable Tilt not only serves as a beautiful case for the iPad Pro 9.7″ and the Apple Pen, it also doubles up as stand, quite like Capra’s iPhone Wallet/Case/Stand. Made from felt, a material that feels great to the touch as well as wonderfully protects the iPad (periodically cleaning the screen too!), the Tilt case/stand comes with a leather flap and 4 fasteners (don’t worry, they don’t touch the iPad). The interesting bit is that the fasteners double up as a lip against which one can rest the iPad, folding the felt case into a prop-up stand that lets you rest the iPad at a slight angle, perfect for placing on your lap as well as on a desk. What’s more, the case fits the Pencil in as well, which rests against the width of the iPad perfectly. A well-crafted product with a premium feel and absolutely clever thinking!

Easy Tea

tilt_00

Nothing should prevent one from enjoying one of life’s simple pleasures: a hot cup of tea! Designed with this in mind, TILT. is a kettle that makes it easy for anyone to fill, heat, and pour despite disability, weakness, mobile impairment or age.

It’s all made possible with a unique hinge system that aids in the pouring process by reducing the strain on the arms. Additionally, an integrated cup filling system reduces the weight that would normally be required to lift a traditional kettle.

Of course, other swing systems have been around for a while, but they still require the user to lift a full kettle to put it in place… and they don’t look half as good!

Tilt tells augmented reality stories to kids with a rug and duvet

We've seen plenty of augmented reality storytelling apps, but Tilt goes a step further by tying them into colorful textiles that you'd actually want to put in kids' rooms. The company's SpinTales "Jungle Rug" and "Enchanted Duvet" ($99 each) work wit...
