Building Brick Waffle Maker: LEGGO My LEGO

Of the many things I’ve enjoyed in my life, LEGO bricks and belgian waffles are pretty high on the list. So I was pretty stoked when I saw this waffle maker that lets you combine these two passions of mine into one.

The Building Brick Waffle Maker works just like any other waffle iron, except this one cranks out stackable blocks that you can build things with. It makes three different sizes of building bricks: 1×1, 1×2, and 1×4, and they have cutouts on their bottoms so they interlock just like LEGO.

You can make all kinds of edible sculptures with your waffle bricks, from small waffle houses, to giant waffle mansions. Your only constraint is your imagination – and your bowl of batter. Of course, I prefer to eat my waffles while they’re piping hot, so I don’t know if I’d get very far before I started to dig into my constructions.

The guys behind the project are making matching plates which serve as a base for stacking waffle bricks, and also have a couple of little side trays for dipping syrup or butter. While they’re not essential for building, they make a nice accessory.

You can pre-order the Building Brick Waffle Maker over on Kickstarter now. They’ve already met their funding goal, so that’s great news. Prices start at just $50 for the waffle iron itself, and start at $75 for a bundle with two baseplates for building. They hope to start shipping as soon as August 2020.

Keyboard Waffle Iron Cooks The Best Type of Breakfast

I like waffles. I think they’re much better than pancakes because the waffle is crispy on the outside. If you like waffles too, but you want a bit more geek in your breakfast, the Keyboard Waffle Iron is for you.

It makes waffles shaped like a 104-key keyboard. This isn’t a fancy electric waffle iron mind you, this is a metal pan that you put mix into and then hold over your stovetop burner or a campfire to cook. Keyboard waffles are the traditional camping breakfast.

The iron is made from non-stick aluminum with bakelite handles that won’t brand your palms as you cook. You can get one for $69.99(USD) at ThinkGeek. That’s a few bucks more than it was back in 2014 when we saw it first on Kickstarter, but at least you can be assured you’ll get your order without waiting for months for it to go into production.

Café Makes Keyboard-Shaped Waffles: Sticky Keys

I like waffles, video games, and computers so this is a trifecta for me. Nexon is a company that makes video games and it has a computer museum in South Korea. At that museum is a café that serves up some very cool treats for visitors to snack on.

One of those cool treats is a waffle that is shaped like a keyboard. It’s complete with powdered sugar, but I don’t see any syrup anywhere on the plate. I guess they don’t want you to have a sticky keyboard. I have to say, these waffles look much cooler than the ones produced by the official Keyboard Waffle Iron. They also make some sort of little mouse shaped pastries as well.

It looks like the works is served with whipped cream, berries, and ice cream to boot. Now I’m hungry.

Keyboard Waffle Iron Spells Delicious

When Chris Dimino unveiled his Typewriter Waffle Maker a few years ago the Internet begged him to make more of them to sell. Challenge accepted. Chris is now raising funds on Kickstarter for a more functional version of his art piece, which he simply calls The Keyboard Waffle Iron.

Perhaps to keep things simple and affordable, Chris opted to leave the typewriter parts out of The Keyboard Waffle Iron. Besides, what matters is that it makes a keyboard-shaped waffle.

Pour some syrup on your browser and pledge at least $60 (USD) on Kickstarter to receive The Keyboard Waffle Iron as a reward.

Pixel Waffle Iron Concept: 8-bite

We’ve seen a couple of video game-themed waffles before. If you want to make your own edible pixel art, keep an eye out for the Pixel waffle iron. It lets you create blocky patterns on your waffle.

Made by Quirky member Chunder, Pixel has a silicone mold with a 9×9 grid of squares. Each of those squares can be depressed, which in theory would also lead to a waffle with the corresponding square-shaped indentations. The great thing about the mold is that you won’t be stuck with one pattern.

Quirky is currently taking surveys to improve the commercial version of Pixel. You might want to tell them that Voxel would be a better name for it.

Vans Waffle Sole iPhone Case Lets You Put Your Sneakers in Your Pocket

Initially, this case was created by Vans for promotional use only, but some enterprising bloggers managed to convince the company to release it to a wider audience.

Rubber around your precious iPhone is good, and there is plenty of rubber on this case. The back of the case looks just like the rubber sole from a pair of Vans sneakers, which is why it’s just so awesome.

They are available from Vans stores for $28 (USD). However, they’re so hard to come by that you can find some on eBay for $60 to $100 and more. If you really want one, you should probably scour the Vans stores in your city and maybe you’ll strike gold. I think I might try to do that myself.
