This smart lamp is a PC widget interface, digital microscope and portable x-ray machine

A geeky LED lamp that’s got a screen on the outside to beam important widgets beyond the PC and external screen interface. On the inside, there are more functions that’ll keep anyone interested.

Ever wondered what could be the ideal catalyst between a desk setup having a PC or laptop, and the docked phone? A cool desktop widget screen christened Workmate beams everything and anything important to your work regime. A perfect accessory for professionals and creatives – either in an office space or work from home setup. The accessory keeps a tab of productivity by tracking the hours you’ve worked in a day. Well, it’s got pretty more tricks up its sleeve to keep the geeky ones excited.

Designer: Taiseer Zarruk

Workmate doubles as a smart lamp that swings open to reveal more trickery. On the inside surface, there are sensors, scanners, and even a small projector that turn the desk surface into a touch-sensitive platform. So, we are talking of an added virtual widget that can be assigned functions like beaming notifications in non-focus sessions, audio player controls, smart lighting controls, and much more. The gadget comes with a Micrograph Pro feature – allowing the user to hook on a detachable stereo microscope lens for magnifying things with up to 100x zoom levels. This is useful for biological analysis, viewing small insects up close, dissecting plants, PCB inspection, or quality control.

That is not it, Workmate also comes with a radiograph pro feature to take X-ray readings. It’s accompanied by a user-friendly integrated interface to take a quick X-ray in case you busted your wrist and want to be sure if any bone is broken or there’s a hairline fracture. While X-ray analysis should be undertaken under strict supervision only by radiographers, I presume the accessory will become a reality in times when we’ll have safe to use X-ray applications for personal use.
