This multifunctional wall organizer comes with modular planters to add some greenery to your WFH office!

Fahredin Kosumi’s Wall Organizer and Mess-Free Planter is a WFH multi-functional, organizational wall accessory that allows users to organize their office and add some greenery in the process!

Working from home has changed the way we approach interior design. Functionality has never been more important and that means space-saving, multifunctional design pieces have taken center stage. Space-saving designs typically have an organizational edge to them that keeps our heads screwed on right and makes the most of our available living areas.

Designer: Fahredin Kosumi

No matter the size of your living space, multi-use furniture helps to keep both the floor and our minds free from clutter. Adding his own multi-functional, organizational WFH design to the mix, Fahredin Kosumi created a Wall Organizer and Mess-Free Planter to form a magnetic, modular garden to mount on any vertical surface.

Defined by an assembly system close to LEGO building blocks, Kosumi’s Wall Organizer and Mess-Free Planter come with base grids that attach to walls with 3M strips, requiring no hardware or tools in the process. Once users form their base grid on their chosen vertical surface, the fun begins. Stocked with over 20 different modules, Kosumi’s Wall Organizer and Mess-Free Planter come with hangers, magnetic clips, transparent storage containers, planters, and cubbies.

From there, users can choose between different modules, from cork pinboards to planters, and begin adding to their Wall Organizer. Constructed from PAFCAL, Kosumi’s Wall Organizer and Mess-Free Planter is produced in Japan and is entirely recyclable. PAFCAL is a ground-breaking material that originated in Japan, made from 70% air and 30% water, and allows users to have plants without worrying about watering them.

Tiny ceramic planters that can be pinned create fun, customizable planters for WFH offices

Flora is a WFH wall accessory that combines an organizational cork pinboard with hanging planters molded from jesmonite.

With WFH orders sending us to the far reaches of our bedrooms-slash-offices, there’s never been a better excuse to accessorize. New designs for organizers, stationary, and desks have redefined what working from home could look like.

Designer: Préssec Design

Over recent years, designers have created multifunctional WFH appliances by integrating elements like hidden storage units and organizers into appliances like chairs and desks to make the workday at home feel just as efficient as it feels in the office. Today, designers from Sydney-based Préssec Design have developed Flora, a wall garden system that combines a cork pinboard with hanging planters.

Molded from jesmonite, Flora features specks of color for a modern take on terrazzo, a form of composite material originating in 16th-century Italy. Conceived as a passion project during the lockdown, the designers at Préssec Design first made Floria from concrete casting. Once they achieved their desired look for Flora, they turned it up a notch and gave jesmonite a try.

The team of designers chose to work with jesmonite to give the wall garden system a seamless look like each planter was bulging from the corkboard. Merging each planter with the wall behind it, Préssec designers looked to thumbtacks to latch the planters’ corners to the corkboard. These thumb tacks are made up of different colors for users to customize the look of Flora.

While jesmonite gave Préssec designers the chance to experiment with the overall look of Flora, maintaining the concrete casting’s crisp edges was a challenge. Following periods of research and prototyping, the team of designers settled on a silicone mold for the jesmonite casting.

Explaining their process, Préssec designers describe, “It took a lot of experimenting with the ratios of the different aggregates but we got it to a point where we maintained the structure and kept the crisp edges of the design.”

This laptop desk is cushioned, has storage space & makes working from couch more ergonomic!

Let’s be real – we spend a lot of time in the day figuring out the most comfortable work-from-home position because the bed is where we start slouching into a nap and the desk is too upright. Tony Heap was going through a similar problem and after making a makeshift laptop desk that let him work from his couch, he made it even better by adding in storage and taking care of ergonomics. Heap, really heard our cries for a comfortable laptop desk and that’s how LAPOD (laptop desk + storage pod) was born!

Whether you’re a digital nomad or a remote worker, LAPOD allows you to easily and comfortably work from anywhere. The lap desk holds all accessories such as chargers, cables, portable drives, without adding clutter to your ouch or side tables. The storage pod is also cushioned to make it comfortable when it is on your lap. No more balancing your laptop on your knee, battery indicator flashing, juggling charger, and plug while searching your bag for your earbuds to take that incoming video call!

The gentle sweeping ergonomic shape is the result of a carefully considered form designed to fit you just as well as fit your things. Raising your work up off your lap reduces wrist angle and neck-craning. “Ergonomically, we work in a multitude of different positions: sitting upright or reclined, knees together or spread, maybe one leg over the other, or sitting cross-legged yogi-style in the lotus position. To add to this, we aren’t really designed to stay sitting still, so it’s often a combination of all of the above in some sort of human posture shuffle,” adds Heap.

Single-handedly access whatever you have inside the storage pod without disturbing whatever you have on top of your desk. Need to plug into portable drives or power packs? LAPOD’s simple cable routing slot has you covered. It also features a cutaway slot in the work surface that allows you to run cables or charge batteries without navigating a ‘spaghetti junction’ at your feet or losing any valuable desk space.

Heap believes that balancing the often diverging properties is key to great material selection and development. LAPOD’s storage pod is made from high-quality rigid P.E.T. felt as it is super durable while being tactile and aesthetically pleasing. The desk is slim, lightweight, resilient, and completely hand washable. This lap desk is currently topping our list of work-from-home essentials!

This minimal desk comes with modular parts, creating a versatile design that meets your creative needs!

The Note Desk is a simple, yet durable wooden office desk with a removable back panel to suit your professional and creative needs.

Desks assume the personality of their owners. Illustrators and designers tend towards drafting desks with slight inclines for a comfortable lean when drawing, while secretaries and assistants go for desks with plenty of catalog drawers and storage space for obvious reasons.

The list goes on–there are as many variations of desks as there are professions. The Note Desk, from OEO Studio, is one variation that transcends professional roles to be a desk designed for everyone.

Propped up on top of four sawhorse legs, the Note Desk keeps a minimal profile, trading a loud personality for a durable and quality build. Entirely constructed from wood, the Note Desk has a traditional shape, with a spacious flat top surface that merges with a back panel for added functional elements.

The back panel is outfitted with short shelves and a felt tack board ideal for calendar reminders and Post-It notes, making it a suitable choice for office workers and artists alike. Conceptualized in an array of different colors, the Note Desk’s wooden build is envisioned as stained ebony, deep chocolate brown, as well as a natural wooden look.

The whole desk comes together with a couple of screws, nuts, and bolts for a simple, yet long-lasting build. Similar to a desk you’d find in a library or working zone, the Note Desk also comes with USB plugins for charging your smartphone, tablet, or laptop while working. The removable back panel, shelving units, and tack board can be applied to each Note Desk easily with built-in attachments that can just as easily be removed. With a versatile, modular structure, the Note Desk can be transformed to fit anyone’s professional and creative needs.

The removable shelf attaches to the back panel and adds some storage space to the desk.

Tiny, space-saving desk setups designed to perfectly fit into your modern homes!

The most important element of our home office is our desk, especially since work from home became the new normal, and we basically bid adieu to corporate offices. Finding the right desk is just half the battle. You may find the best desk ever, but if you don’t know how to set it up, in accordance with your needs, then you may just be losing the second half of the battle. And this can be a huge task when we take into consideration the size of our modern-day cramped apartments! We need desk setups that occupy minimum space while providing us with the utmost functionality and work. Because a great day of work partially depends on the state of our desk and its setup! If you want to set up your desk in the most efficient manner possible, ensuring that it perfectly merges with the rest of your millennial home, while boosting productivity and motivation, then you’re at the right place! Here are a few impressive desk setups for you to gain inspiration from, and finally declutter and set up your desk the way you really want to. Best of luck!

I absolutely love this desk setup by Greg Shovlin! He’s maintained a wooden theme with white accents. The minimal desk occupies minimum space while rating high on functionality and aesthetics. The standing storage units on either side of the desk allow you to display your prized souvenirs!

This desk setup by @norse.keeb is perfect for our modern-day cramped apartments. A simple wooden desk has been fitted into one corner of the room, creating a personal little work nook, amped with everything you will need on a regular working day – from a dual-screen PC to a crafty storage unit above the desk.

This desk setup by Maxim Tsiabus (@maxim_tsiabus) is clean, classy, and all-white! A white wooden wall-mounted slab functions as the desk, a nifty replacement for the usual space-consuming desks. Tsiabus has placed only essentials on his desk, hence creating an organized and efficient space.

This desk setup by Nataliia Klochko (@archi.tash) is similar to the one by Maxim Tsiabus, however, she has followed a wooden theme that merges with the surrounding space. This is a desk setup that could easily be incorporated into your bedroom! You don’t even need a separate home office.

This desk setup is probably the most adorable one I’ve seen, and you could fit it into even the tiniest home! The desk is large enough to house a PC and other essential knick-knacks. A hint of green above the desk adds a calming aura to the space.

This desk setup by Dimitar Karanikolov (@karanikolov) is modern and minimal! The desk merges with a storage unit, creating an efficient system that would be a wonder to work in. Such a workspace is ideal for work-from-home scenarios in seriously cramped homes!

Nothing beats a desk set up with a view! Liam Martin’s desk has been artfully tucked against a window, hence saving up on a whole lot of space, while also providing a relaxing view. It’s the best of both worlds!

This desk setup by Oliur (@ultralinx) is one that we could all achieve! It’s relatively simple and easy to put together and is the perfect setup for the work-from-home beginners, who are trying to create a comfortable workspace in their tiny urban homes.

There is no such thing as ‘too big a screen’! We love this vibrant desk setup which is perfect for working from home as well as some Netflix and chill once work is done! It allows you to transform your living room into a home office.

This desk setup by  @teksetup  is work-from-home desk goals! A wall-mounted pegboard storage unit on one side of the desk perfectly stores his gadgets from an extra keyboard to headphones, to even little planters. A dual-screen setup is accentuated by an L-shaped lighting unit in the background. It illuminates the desk completely, providing plenty of light while he works!

This transforming furniture goes from office setup to home chair by easily unzipping the sides!

Remember the hours we spent commuting every day – to the office, to a favorite restaurant or just to see our much-loved sunset spot? Living in Bombay, my memory of trains is a sensory assault – the people standing next to you, the waft of that balmy air as it wedges it was through the bodies, the cacophony of friends greeting each other, railway public service announcements, and the hawkers selling an assortment of objects. Given the year and a half of living in the isolation and quiet of my home furniture, I don’t think I can step into a train without getting shivers. To give you the feeling of working from the office while working from home, designer Andrew Mangelsdorf created the Commute chair.

The name commute chair might give you the idea that it helps you recreate the journey (maybe it’s a variation of floo powder that transports you while sitting in place), it literally helps create a barrier between your home and workspace. Designing a home office is a luxury not everyone can afford – we often convert our bedroom into the workroom and the dining table into a desk for the day. Commute lets you mentally transform yourself by pulling up the partitions of this ingenious chair. The chair also comes with multiple accessories like a swiveling tabletop and a table light – all integrated to create the perfect desk setup in the form of one simple chair. The chair also has USB ports and holds deep pockets to hold all your knick-knacks that you need during work. The chair’s aesthetics are minimal – fitting into your home, while the beige inner fabric acts as a professional backdrop to those endless Zoom calls.

The transforming nature of the chair comes from the metal zipper that holds the chair’s privacy barriers up. Open up the zip – either from one side only or from both sides and fold the excess over the metal arm, creating an impromptu armrest. The commute chair makes commuting from work to home that simple.

Be it your work time or time to relax, we all need a barrier from distractions that surround us. Keeping this in mind, the commute chair becomes essential for your homes even when the pandemic is over – and life, as we know it, returns to the normal we were used to. Personally, I would love to have the commute chair as a reading nook, use the sides to take away any distractions, and lose myself in the wonderful world of books!

These 3D printed pods are sustainable personal offices that you can subscribe to just like Netflix!

Post the pandemic, all of us have realized the importance of having a dedicated space where we can focus on work without having to explain on our zoom calls what the noise in the background is. Meet the Denizen Architype pod – a smart, functional, personal office that supports your remote work life and also could double up as a creative escape! This prefabricated office is designed with everything you need for the perfect work day and you can set it up anywhere in the world if you have subscribed to it – it’s like Netflix but for a physical office space.

Denizen pods want to help reduce central office costs while adapting to the changes like remote work and flexible lifestyle. The 100 sqft pod is a modern solution with a small footprint that can help retain global talent, maximize productivity and reduce environmental impact that big corporate offices have. “It is ideally suited for high-volume production as a consumer product – more like an automobile or smartphone than a conventional building. Leveraging the latest in 3D printing, robotic fabrication, and technology integration, Denizen can mass-produce high-quality office units that are not only more desirable spaces to work than conventional offices, but also cheaper and faster to build,” says the team in their press release.

The modern tiny office is constructed from premium materials like sustainably harvested timber, 3D printed biopolymers, and durable metal cladding. The tech has been integrated in the pod to make your work from home life as easy as possible. The company hopes to partner with cities to help deploy pods in green spaces to build communities and upgrade neighborhoods so that those who don’t have a backyard big enough for the pod can still subscribe and take advantage of it. This will mean less space for cars, office parks, and parking lots; more space for people, culture, and nature in the city. Remote tech and architecture is a critical tool for eliminating the carbon impact of business flights and traditional office buildings.

“There is a major unmet need in the shift to flexible, remote, and hybrid work, and it’s going to take conventional real estate decades to catch up. Even prior to the pandemic, offices were expensive, distracting, and inconvenient. A better solution was needed. We’ve created a space so inspiring that it will change the way you want to work and live. And by offering it as a subscription service, we make it natural for employers to give their teams a professional, connected, and safe work environment,” says Nick Foley, CEO of Denizen.

The desk seamlessly blends within the large glass arch that has a switchable privacy glass made of two layers with liquid crystals in between – this is expensive so we wonder if it will be a feature available only for the higher end subscription models. It has audiophile-grade speakers and 40 Amp electrical service for the structure. Another question for the team would be the source of electricity since they are pushing for sustainability and reduction of carbon footprint. The Denizen pod is still at a conceptual stage but is an interesting way to decentralize offices as we know it!
