Walkolution treadmill desks revolutionize the way people work and workout at home

The new year is all about fresh start. If you’re like millions of people around the world that started the year with the goal of getting fit and healthy, you have probably done either of the two: start or stop already.

The first month of the year is usually when people are so hyped up with keeping their resolutions. By the second month, they stop or forget about their goals. You see, being fit is an integral part of a person’s life. Well, it should be but you can agree with me it can be a challenge especially these days when people are encouraged to stay home and there’s not enough space to move.

Designer: Walkolution

Walking is perhaps the easiest and most economical thing to do. You can start with it but what happens when working from home and staying at home are becoming the norm. One can’t just go around the neighborhood, at least, in some parts of the world due to fear of Covid.

A treadmill is an answer. There are plenty of portable and smaller models available in the market that you don’t have any reason not to buy. But for those multitaskers, you can consider this desk treadmill from Walkolution.

Walkolution Treadmill Walk and Work

The German company actually offers several different models of the walking treadmill that differ in size and design. They are similar in many ways as they allow you to start with your own movement revolution. All variants offer the same elements: treadmill and a desk for work.

Walkolution MTD900R KYBUN WANDERLUST

The most affordable model, the MT300 NEW WORK, is very compact and is a silent treadmill. It doesn’t have a desk but you can place it anywhere a standing desk. You can choose to get a handrail and standing aid.

Walkolution MT300 NEW WORK

The other two models, the MTD700R WANDERLUST and the MTD800R ÄRA, are also compact and come with a silent treadmill workspace with an integrated desk and a free-standing premium lift desk, respectively. Both offer ergonomic standing aid and hand-rail. The standing desk on each model is adjustable.

Many people say this is perfect for the home office but it’s also ideal for real corporate offices, fitness studios, home gym, and even in spas and other rehabilitation or medical centers. For extra comfort, you can change the treadmill covering. You can choose between the stable birch wood or the elastic wooden slats. To make the Walkolution a very worth solution, its design is modular which means you can modify or retrofit other versions.

Walkolution products are sold by a Germany-based company. Founded by Dr. Eric Söhngen and Frank Ackermann in 2017, the Walkolution brand quickly became a success. The treadmills made by the company are now sold in more than 40 countries and are used by private consumers and corporate customers.

Walkolution MTD900R KYBUN WANDERLUST

Each treadmill uses proprietary technology. It’s eco-friendly as every treadmill doesn’t need electricity to work. If you want to move, you will really need to get moving and walking.

Walkolution has built an eco-certified high-tech production site where all treadmill products and engineered and manufactured. Each product is crafted following high standards for top-notch German quality and excellent customer service.

A walking treadmill offers a lot of benefits. Many people know that sitting on a chair while being in front of the computer for hours is not that healthy. It can be now with Walkolution. You have no reason not to walk because the treadmill is there. You can place your laptop on the desk to work and walk away from that extra weight.

No electricity is required. It only needs your weight and pace for it to work and change the intensity level. It’s noise-free too because there is no motor that runs inside.

Walkolution Treadmill Design

The treadmill comes with a design that allows a leaning back position. This results to more comfortable walking. Working and staying healthy at the same time is possible. You just need to be determined to really do this thing. You ready now?

This multifunctional product has been designed to work as a clothing rack and a treadmill!

We love multifunctional product designs here but I have to admit, I have never thought of a treadmill and a clothing rack in one! But then again, we use our office chairs as an “open closet” so this concept isn’t entirely alien. ‘Walk and Hang’ is a project that functions as a basic treadmill as well as a clothing rack in one sleek design.

Both clothing racks and treadmills are usually an eyesore in any home because they look out of place and are super bulky. One of the key aspects of ‘Walk and Hang’ is its aesthetically pleasing form that looks neither like a treadmill nor like a clothing rack. In fact, it looks like a minimal standing table if I ever saw one inside someone’s house and had to take a wild guess. It rests in a folding table-like form and can be opened fully into a treadmill or only partly at the top for the racks. It saves a lot of floor area indoors, especially if it’s a shared space and even more so after the pandemic where you need more room for a work-from-home setup.

“I tried to satisfy everything of the product’s original function and user’s habits, and solved space problems and considered usability by combining the two products together,” says designer Jinyoung Noh. Since this is a concept, I will let my imagination run wild – clothing racks are often placed where sunlight hits the hardest so clothes dry fast, I would love to see this treadmill be turned into a solar-powered one by capitalizing on that same sunlight. ‘Walk and Hang’ is a slim treadmill and definitely the most beautiful clothing rack I’ve ever seen!

This curved manual treadmill promises natural motion, giving you the perfect workout regime

Most of the treadmills that keep you fit (only if you use them for a prolonged period) are too tech-savvy, and one wishes at times they were a tad simpler. All that while having an aesthetic form that’s good to go with your modern interiors. The Sprintbok by NOHrD breaks the conventional norms normally associated with treadmills – giving fitness freaks one more reason to burn those calories out of the system and stay fit for life!

This curved manual treadmill crafted from solid hardwood doesn’t have any fancy settings or electronics to make you go out for an indoor run. Rather it uses flexible wooden slats and ball bearing engineering for a natural running motion that’s actually powered by the user’s legs. It feels like you are running in a forest and the low noise makes it ideal for an apartment setting. You can run as fast as you can or as slow as desired on the Sprintbok – it’s that simple. The treadmill’s curved shape lets you experience ascending difficulty with bigger sprint steps. To keep track of your progress there’s a bit of basic tech-infused – a 17.3-inch tablet and a compatible Sprintbok app. This way you can choose from a platter of pre-designed running workouts with scenery runs.

Since the treadmill is made from high-quality natural materials that are recyclable, the treadmill is light on the environment too. Sprintbok is more or less a maintenance-free fitness machine which is a great advantage, as modern treadmills can cost a lot in maintenance if not used properly or some component malfunctions. The treadmill belt is made up of 62 movable wooden slats having a linoleum finish – making the machine absorb most of the shocks and vibration produced during running. Truly this treadmill deserves to sit any interior, it’s designed to catch eyeballs for sure!

This VR treadmill promises the ultimate immersive gaming experience from the comfort of your home!

In an ironic way, the pandemic-caused lockdowns confining us to our home has been a blessing in disguise. In some cases, it’s helped the earth breathe a new lease of life (remember the dolphins in the canals of Venice?) and in other cases prompted ingenious designs to help us stay fit and entertained without stepping outside. A fine example of the latter is the Omni One by Virtuix – a virtual reality treadmill that’ll allow gamers to walk or run in 360-degrees inside video games and other virtual environments. The possibilities with Omni are unmatchable – it not only lets you walk but even jump, kneel, and crouch in the gaming world by mimicking the action on the treadmill in real life.

Gamers who’ve tasted the VR flavor would have heard the name Virtuix before. The start-up is currently selling a commercial version of the Omni – “Omni Pro” – to entertainment venues in over 45 countries. Now, Virtuix is coming for the first time to our homes with Omni One treadmill aimed at pushing the bounds of in-home entertainment previously set by VR headsets. Slated to debut in the second half of 2021, the omni-directional treadmill will let you feel you’re physically in a virtual world, while really sweating it out in the comfort of your home – whoever said exercise needs to be boring!

In comparison to the commercial version of the Omni, the Omni One is lighter and more compact – you can place it anywhere in the room. Compared to its predecessor that used a complete ring to hold the user in place, the Omni One comes with a single vertical bar for anchoring the user. It has a diameter of just four feet and can be easily folded up for storage. Billed as a complete entertainment system, this comes with a standalone VR headset and works without any wires or a PC connection. Just step onto the treadmill, strap on the jacket, wear the VR headset, and your good for a seamless experience. Virtuix has its own game store for the Omni One with in-house shooter games and some third-party titles – a total of 30 expected at kick-off.

The Omni One is priced at $1,995 and is announced via a crowdfunding investment campaign. Developers keen on experimenting with the product can get a “dev kit” package for $995 (VR headset not included). Others willing to invest in Virtuix can pool in $1,000 and receive shares in the company with additional perks of up to $800 discount on Omni One and a chance to jump the queue and be amid the first to get hands-on the VR treadmill.

This 180° foldable workout mat is a space-saving alternative to the traditional treadmill!

Okay if home fitness was a porridge then Goldilocks would absolutely go for this one! The WalkingPad S1 is the perfect middle ground for those looking for something that falls between a yoga mat and a treadmill. This 180-degree foldable smart mat is a home workout essential for those who want to build up their fitness without building a full home gym in their apartments. This way you can avoid risking your health by going to the gym in a pandemic while continuing your summer-less summer body journey!

The biggest advantage of the WalkingPad S1 is that it saves 95% space when folded up and also when compared to a treadmill without compromising on the workout. It has been redesigned to fit more people and more scenarios that come with a flexible life. It is also 20 lbs lighter and takes up to 45% less space than the older model. I love that it has a noise reduction feature so it can be accommodated in different rooms without disturbance. “Equipped with premium materials of the frame and the running belt, we aim to deliver the best workout experience at your home. Wake up to a morning walk at home when it’s raining or burn some calories before going to bed; WalkingPad S1 is your perfect solution to an efficient and effective daily exercise – anytime, anywhere,” says the team.

It comes embedded with a feet sensory technology that allows you to adjust and control your pace automatically based on your personalized training data (eg. HIIT training!). There is a pressure sensor at the bottom of the workout appliance that accurately measures your position change. If you want to increase the speed, simply walk to the front of the pad and it will accelerate intuitively. Once you’ve reached your desired speed, move back to the middle of the pad, and it will maintain the speed for you. To stop just walk towards the back of the pad and the belt will slow down steadily to a halt. By identifying different areas, the rate of speed changes accordingly and reduces the chances of you losing your balance when you have to manually control the speed while exercising. If needed, it comes with a detachable handlebar for those who may need support or are dependent. Safety comes first and the S1 will automatically stop if no movements were detected on the running belt. “The pre-set speed limit intends to avoid any injury due to operational errors making it perfect for senior citizens as well. The anti-slip mat is made out of EVA material and it has less friction coefficient when exercising,” assures the team.

An alternative to traditional treadmills, the WalkingPad S1 adopts a patented foldable design that allows you to literally fold it in half and store it anywhere. It occupies minimal space and can be stored vertically or horizontally, so if you have a small space or office you can still get your steps in without rearranging all your furniture! Another feature that stands out in the WalkingPad S1 when compared to a treadmill is the noise. A treadmill would generate a noise reading at a range of 65 dB on the sound scale which is a significant amount while the WalkingPad S1 minimizes the noise to an average of 45 dB. The embedded power engine increases durability while reducing noise which makes it a better fit for any environment and especially shared spaces. You can control the WalkingPad S1 using the remote control, their own app, or simply by walking. Watch my steps go from 41 to 10,000 because I will be walking while I work, cook, and watch Netflix!

The folding treadmill that fits under your sofa

The WalkingPad is a winner product because it realizes that A. People are too lazy to go to the gym, and B. Houses and flats are too small to accommodate a home-gym into them. It, therefore, ticks the appropriate boxes with its innovative design and brings the gym to your home in a way that’s unintrusive yet feature-laden. This full-size treadmill folds up and slides right under your sofa or bed, occupying a space that is insignificant, only to be pulled out, unfolded, and used as a full-size treadmill.

The WalkingPad opens up into a full-size treadmill, sans the side rails. Two wheels at the front end allow you to easily roll the folded WalkingPad to and from under your sofa or bed, and setting up the treadmill is as easy as unfolding it open with a single lifting action. Once unfolded, the belt immediately tightens around the treadmill, and on switching it on, a display at the front of the product comes to life. The WalkingPad can be used in two modes. A manual mode allows you to set a pre-determined speed that your feet follow, while an automatic mode allows you to walk fast or slow, while the traction belt below your feet adjusts its speed to your gait. You’ve even got the additional handheld remote that you can use to work the WalkingPad, while a mobile app allows you to keep track of your walk and subsequently your workout… and when you’re done, just fold the WalkingPad and slide it conveniently under your couch! Having a proper, functional home-gym was never this convenient!
