Electric superbike inspired by 60s café racers fuses dynamic stance and classy personality into a racing Greek god

Electric bikes need not always have larger-than-life designs. They can also have that definitive golden era influence. This fact is apparent from Robert Turner’s latest concept design which strikes the right balance between futuristic elegance and nostalgic euphoria.

Embrace this electric superbike concept inspired by the glitz of the ’60s café racers and the grandeur of European plate armors. The latter is a pretty unrelated stimulus to create superbike of the future.

Designer: Robert Turner

The superbike has a backward stance like a wild cat ready to ambush its prey in the grasslands. The British digital artist captures the essence of fuel-powered counterparts and fuses it into a no-emission two-wheeler with artistic elegance. The extended wheelbase reassures stability at high speeds while ample space for the electric battery ensures a respectable range. Those large-sized fairings ensure aerodynamic efficiency while keeping the raw weight down.

Elongated form just like Phillippe Starck’s Aprilia Motò 6.5 cannot be denied as Robert takes a detour from conventional electric bike designs of the current generation that are heavily weighted towards sharp looks and sci-fi aesthetics. That said, there is not a strong enough reason to make a switch from fuel-powered racing monsters to the electric superbike options currently on the market. This electric superbike wants to achieve driver engagement and even surpass it with this dynamic design.

The focus of this electric concept superbike design is clearly on personality and not functionality. After all speed demons crave everything that touches the heart and are not bothered about the inherent utility. Robert has placed focus on the driver with a forward leaning position and the lesser weight of the machine means it’s highly agile in cornering as well. The concept fuses an intimidating racing stance with the no-frills design language that all motorheads will find solace in at the end of the day when this baby is parked in the see-through garage of a swanky mansion.

This shape-shifting electric bike for short riders gets translucent body frame to expose the innards

To what extent can a bike design be evolved when already thousands of iterations dot the roads, and the hyper-realistic concept design world? It can be more aerodynamic optimized for wind tunnel tests, have a better visual balance, or maybe have sharper aesthetics for dominant road presence. Perhaps a shape-shifting aesthetic is something that has not been seen much in design evolution.

This is where the ATHENAS superbike draws inspiration from but for a niche set of users. Passionate bikers who at times cannot drive the best machines out there because of their short height. As crazy as that might sound, this electric motorcycle concept imagines such a set of wheels.

Designer: Zhengxuan Xie

ATHENA electric bike proposed for the year highlights the power of one’s inside values rather than the outside personality – thereby eliminating the jinx of superbike designs that are targeted at average height users. The mood board by Zhengxuan revolves around the “Power Inside” and transparency in thoughts. Hence, the translucent design of the electric bike, that in a way reminds me of the newly launched Nothing Ear (2).

For a neutral user, the translucent material signifies the strength of the outer contour when viewed from a distance, and when the bike approaches proximity the visible mechanical parts reflect the power of inside intelligence. The highlight feature of the ATHENA is its shape-shifting ability to raise or lower the whole saddle section. Now only this, the whole module can be swapped with another one depending on the driving position and personal preference.

A cool inclusion comes in the form of a graphic animation on the tank section for Start/Stop action or the representation of low-speed or high-speed in blue or red hues. For nerds, the bike’s specifications are impressive since it’s loaded with a 17.7kWh battery of 51mAh capacity. The 348-volt electric motor feeds the rear wheels for 850nm of peak torque.

It goes without saying the bike’s visual appeal is luring and makes me wonder if a future Tesla superbike could adopt such a form factor.

This Transformers-worthy superbike is one ripped monster any superhero would endorse

The Autobot Acree, last seen in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen movie, sure might have been small but the speed and nimble handling gave it a lasting advantage against the bad blood. Unfortunately, it succumbed to a Decepticon, and all the fans have been longing for a two-wheeled Transformer to make a thumping appearance sooner rather than later.

Thankfully, the concept design world gives our imagination wider wings, and this ripped, muscular motorbike has got the right ingredients to make it worthy for the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts appearance slated for a June 2023 release. While that could be a pipedream when the movie is eventually released, I crave this bad boy to get its due in the future.

Designer: Yuriy Mamontov

A beast in its own rights, this concept superbike is one of the most intimating automotive designs you’ll come across. The overwhelmingly cool ride has got an air of sci-fi to it, and a great likelihood of appearing on the big screen, somehow. Also, don’t count out the OTT platforms churning out gripping series – always on the lookout for the next big idea.

Those chunky wheels (good enough for an off-roading 4×4 vehicle) are wrapped on the hubless rims of the bike. They are reinforced by the beefy suspension on both the rear and front – leaving me to conclude its adrenaline-inducing character at high speeds. After all, you would imagine it to have superior grip and balance even while taking sharp turns.

Christened the XSC|1 motorcycle, this two-wheeled dream machine is highlighted by its sharp, bold and futuristic appearance. Those big fat tires, the reassured saddle, mean-looking headlights and the ultra-sharp rear; all combine to lend the motorcycle a resounding distinctiveness. No matter where you glance at the XSC, it’s defined by the sharp geometric lines and triangular patterns. No wonder, I got inclined to paint the Transformers’ picture in your head, the first time I saw this ride!

This Akira superbike elevates Cyberpunk 2077 futurism to unprecedented levels

A lone ghost in the dark, a two-wheeled hunk that’s waiting to set the roads on fire with its muscular figure and panache. Meet the Akira&Ducati cruise superbike that will make all you bike lovers go weak in the knees!

The flashy red Kaneda’s superbike from the sci-fi flick Akira released in 1988 imprinted a lasting impression for the pop universe in the 80s, and the legend is still alive. After all, who can forget the wide and low body jet-like bike speeding the Tokyo highway? This handsome-looking bike has a few real-life, street-legal avatars – but nothing that you and us can lay our hands-on and park in the garage. This Akira bike concept by Shanghai-based artist James Qui gives me hope though. Someday the Akira’s futuristic-looking motorbike will speed on the freeways, only to become a cult favorite decades down the line.

James calls it the Akira&Ducati for one simple reason – it is built around the Ducati Diavel cruiser bike. The aggressive Akira bike here gets the donor bike’s trellis frame with the extra framework to support the rider on long journeys, a jet-inspired cockpit draped in carbon elements and an L-Twin internal combustion engine with a set of turbochargers for more power delivery. The massive spherical Pirelli P-ZERO tires and the colossal front air intakes give it the Cyberpunk-worthy appeal. And rightly so, as Katsuhiro Otomo’s manga Akira inspired the Cyberpunk 2077 Yaiba Kusanagi CT-3X – the fastest bike in the open-world action-adventure game.

The bike gets front wheel-mounted headlights and another set of belly pan-mounted LEDs for extra illumination on foggy days. There’s a dual Termignoni silencer setup joined to the blued titanium headers and the carbon fiber elements on the bodywork bring a semblance of style. Match that up to the single-sided swingarm and the typical 80s neo-retro display, and this Akira rocket is destined to turn eyeballs. Everything on the Akira bike is done with profound attention to detail, and any time a real-life production model of the Akira will be coming, James Qui will be the guy to contact for the blueprints!

This sleek yet grungy electric superbike carries distinct Mad Max meets Batman of the future vibes!

Aerodynamic design, balanced aesthetics, and the beastly persona of this electric superbike are so badass, I want to ride it right now!

The Mad Max franchise has given automotive designers more than one reason to explore the craziness possible with anything on wheels. The outrageous designs fueled by the high octane action are the perfect recipe for the adrenaline rush, and every automotive enthusiast can’t help but long for more. That’s what keeps us all excited here at Yanko Design and no matter how crazy two-wheels we’ve seen in the past, we keep coming back for more.

Right out of the manual of the wild is the Genome electric superbike penned by Amir Shafiee. The moment I laid my eyes on this shining chrome beast, it instantly evoked a sense of traversing into a future where a hunky vigilante looks to take control of things in a world dominated by vandalism and chaos. Of course, that is where the post-apocalyptic influence in my thought process kicks in. I picture this as the perfect mix of comic’s Batman of the Future bike and a modern interpretation of Mad Max Fury Road!

The long wheelbase and a far-off positioned rear wheel will give this concept motorbike an edge at high speeds. The rider’s forward-leaning driving position is a telltale sign of the speedy aesthetics of the Genome. The decal 1250 ZLX on the front swing arm of the bike points towards the futuristic characteristics, all set to revolutionize the powerful electric engines that’ll power two-wheelers. Amir combines the flowing shape of the Genome with protruding dials that convey the current speed, electric reserve, and the power on or off status.

Also, the inclusion of the green stripe on the tires adds to the styling element of the Genome Superbike, and I love the overall balance of design on this one. Most of all, the looks of the superbike instantly urges me to hop on and take it for an extended road trip on a sun-setting landscape by the river. Well done Amir I’ve got to say!

This e-bike’s humongous rear wheel gives it a self balancing, Tron-inspired vibe!

This e-bike hits all the right notes when we talk of looks, the aesthetic balance of design, and the speedy character of a future that demands increased adrenaline-fueled rides.

This e-bike concept differentiates by merging a more rounded/not-so-edgy (finally a non-Cybertruck inspired idea) with the neon glow of the Tron universe we love. The e-bike concept designed by BaoPham Design is eye-candy for all the right reasons, and our favorite is the humongous tires, providing a contact patch so wide, it could do without the side stands and act as a self-standing bike.

Just imagine this two-wheeler in a sci-fi flick, as the protagonist rides it to the badlands to seek revenge from the evil scientist-turned villain. Sounds like a plot you love? The purple hues of the e-bike provide a mysterious element that is supported by the black and white contrasting sides of the e-bike.

The e-bike’s front provides a sleek aerodynamic shape, giving the e-bike the ability to glide through the air resistance at high speeds. Layered body structure and a balanced frame give this e-bike a definitive style quotient that will turn heads wherever you go.

A single reinforced suspension makes this e-bike glide smoothly on the bumpy streets. The e-bike’s rear gives a complete contrast to the front – with the front sporting a curved faring whereas the rear comes with a flat, covered swing arm. The e-bike’s handlebars are also a straight design, making it easier to hold onto while riding.

3D modeled in Shapr3D and rendered in Keyshot, the designer matches the glossy paint job with a brush of white on the defining contours of the two-wheeler. The low-slung riding position means the e-bike is built for speed, and with fat tires to keep you steady, this e-bike is one for the thrill-seekers!

This Maserati electric concept bike is a mashup of The Alien and stylized Tron DNA!

If Maserati builds a futuristic superbike, it would undoubtedly catch eyeballs, and this concept design truly deserves the Maserati badge. This superbike design by passionate motorhead Tomáš Klečka – a student from Brno, the Czech Republic – is certainly one that’s so ride-worthy. The electric two-wheeler looks inspired by the Xenomorph XX121 alien for its mean machine character. On the flip side, the superbike is just more than its flashy Trident logo.

The air vents on the sides are so reminiscent of the Maserati brand and the cars we’ve seen all these years. Big hubless wheels lend the Maserati electric concept bike the signature Tron bike character – and one can say – the ride is a striking image of the legendary superbike. A badass-styled set of wheels with the Xenomorph XX121 and Tron bike styling. Now, that’s quite rare, to be frank. The dark magenta color with the white stripe right in the middle is so Instagrammable. Add to that the big Maserati Trident logo and the creation is destined to be a dream ride for anyone who lays their eyes on it.

The low center of gravity of the Maserati electric concept and the forward-leaning position give it a street racing vibe. Perhaps it is a true reflection of the Maserati Motorcycles build between 1953 and 1960. Unfortunately, due to intense competition from other Italian motorbike makers, the division eventually shunned. So, as a tribute to the Maserati’s stint with the two-wheelers, who won’t want to own this beauty and park it on their porch? Tomáš has managed to inculcate the rich history of Maserati into the shape of a bike that’ll make you go week in the knees!

The Japanese-inspired Ghost Superbike is a Beast! Really!

Now, this is one good-looking bike. The creator of this concept, Cameron Bresn, has christened it The WOW 101 Ghost Superbike. Forgive my Japanese, but from the yellow Katakana characters on the bike’s fairing, it seems like he has also given it a not-so-secret nick-name – “Beast or Beasuto” if you want to get the Japanese pronunciation right.

The Beast clearly has its origin story set in Japan even though the Disney counterpart (and that oh-so-catchy ballroom dance song) features heavily on our minds!. Even the tires are made by Toyo, while the dimpled hexagon pattern on each tire doesn’t inspire too much confidence. Instead of those, we suggest the Hexonic tire concept by Hankook to elevate the bike even further! What I find most striking about this design is its oneness. All its components look so well-unified, which is usually an indication of a well-thought-out design that promises to deliver outstanding performance! Another element that seems to have originated in Japan is the handles that look very much like nunchuck handles (you cannot unsee it now).

Cameron has left the practicality of the bike where it belongs – in your imagination (or lack thereof). For instance, those footpegs look more like a commuter bike than a superbike. But who gives a damn! Let’s pretend they are winglets for aerodynamics and be happy! You can believe the bike will run well, at least in a straight line, and go faaaaast while you will definitely look cool while doing it. Just find a straight line of a road and stick to it as I cannot really imagine taking a turn on this bike. But every sin is forgiven when a bike looks so good…
