How this fashionable Apple AirPods necklace makes sure you never lose them again

Apple’s AirPods ushered in a new generation of audio accessories and put the 3.5mm headphone jack on its way to retirement. But while the previously ridiculed wireless earbuds have practically become the new trend, unsurprisingly, it did create a new problem for people still unused to juggling two small thingamajigs in their hands. AirPods keep getting lost left and right, pun intended, forcing people to waste money on backup pairs. It’s extremely difficult when you lose one piece, so the best answer is to always keep them together no matter what. That’s exactly the kind of solution that these neck straps offer, but they do so in a way that transforms practical utility into trendsetting fashion.

Panther Black

Truly wireless earbuds like the AirPods free us from the tyranny of tangled cables, but that liberty doesn’t come without its own price. In theory, they should always be inside their case when they’re not on your ears, but in practice, people tend to take them off temporarily, only to forget where they placed them in the first place. That’s the benefit that cables have, even for those wireless earphones that still have a wire connecting both ends since you can always hang them around your neck while not using them.

Daisy Yellow

That’s the design that the PodChain is aiming for, but it takes the concept to the next level when it comes to aesthetics. Yes, it provides a strap you can attach a pair of AirPods or AirPods Pro so you can hang them around your neck or on a hook until it’s time to use them again or charge them. The key difference is that it goes a step further in making sure those buds don’t just dangle off your shoulders.

Midnight Blue

With a One Click Patented Lock, you can easily secure each AirPod in place. And, when you’re not using them, you can magnetically join the two pieces together, closing the loop around your neck. No more dangling ends that get snagged by objects and people you pass by; just a single, eye-catching woven cord that you can proudly wear like a necklace.

And that’s where the AirPods necklace’s other big features comes in. Each strap is made from beautifully braided cords that combine complementary colors, depending on the style. Blue, black, and gray combine to create a romantic Midnight Blue, while yellow, blue, and brown mix for an earthy Daisy Yellow. And you don’t have to settle for one, either since you can easily change the necklace you’ll wear depending on your mood or outfit for the day. So give yourself some well-deserved peace of mind with these stylish necklaces designed to give your AirPods a home so that they never get lost again.

Samsung and Jaden Smith Earth Day collab gives birth to stylish and sustainable accessories

Due to their sheer volume, consumer electronics, and especially mobile devices, might be one of the biggest contributors to the Earth’s demise. It is impossible at this point to turn back the clock or even quit cold turkey and give up these modern conveniences, but that doesn’t mean we can’t take steps to mitigate their harmful effects. Some major brands have started switching to more sustainable materials, whether in packaging or in the devices themselves. Those aren’t the only opportunities for improvement, though, and this collaboration between Samsung and artist and designer Jaden Smith demonstrates how mobile accessories can also benefit from sustainable design while still being fashionable and eye-catching as any design can be.

Designer: Samsung x Jaden Smith (MSFTSrep)

Mobile accessories like cases and watch straps might even be bigger offenders when it comes to pollution and carbon emissions because they’re so cheap to make, especially when you use plastic materials. People usually go through them quickly and throw them away without a second thought. It doesn’t have to be like that, of course, but it takes intentional and conscientious actions to change for the better.

Samsung’s 2023 collection of eco-conscious accessories serves as a testament to how you don’t have to sacrifice quality and beauty for sustainability, as some might incorrectly presume. The set utilizes a variety of styles popularized by Jaden Smith’s clothing label, MSFTSrep (“misfits republic”), and showcases a variety of unique designs that express a vibrant and perhaps even rebellious spirit.

The MSFTSrep Trippy Summer Spiral and Wavy Rainbow, for example, bring a splash of color to cases for the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy S23 Ultra. Although less flamboyant, the MSFTSrep Classic and Snowprint Galaxy Buds 2 Pro case and Galaxy Watch strap still carry distinct marks that celebrate the owner’s individuality and uniqueness.

The most important aspect of these fashionable accessories, however, is the fact that they use sustainable materials, both in their construction as well as they’re packaging. They use a combination of partially degradable plastic as well as TPU that contains recycled material from Samsung’s own manufacturing process waste. The products are also packaged in recycled paper with card stock printed using vegetable ink. Created to celebrate Earth Day next week, these designs try to send a message that being sustainable is now fashionable, and, fortunately, major brands are finally making it easier to get these products into the hands of the masses.

Bellroy’s leather Apple Watch straps give your smartwatch a classy, old-school touch

Isn’t it funny that Apple sells its own leather case for the iPhone, a product that has literally no history with leather, and leather holders for the AirTag, a relatively cutting-edge device that isn’t really connected to leather… but the Apple Watch doesn’t have leather straps. Wristwatches and leather straps have been an unavoidable match for centuries, but it seems like something Apple just glossed over. If that fact somehow bugged you too like it’s bugging me, Bellroy’s got a clever solution. The smartwatch straps from Bellroy come with a durable elastomer base for comfort and to prevent slipping, but are then finished off with a wonderfully eye-catching eco-tanned leather top.

The leather-elastomer blend gives the watch the best of both worlds. The leather brings back the watch’s most trusted strap material, giving the watch an authentically classic appeal, while the elastomer base on the strap prevents it from slipping on your wrist. Since the Apple Watch’s main hardware is fairly heavier than most regular watches, it succumbs to the effects of gravity, which is why having a rubbery base to the strap helps. A texture on the underside also promotes breathability, so the strap never makes your skin feel sweaty.

The premium leather on top, however, comes with an eco-friendly veggie-tan and patinas over time, becoming uniquely imperfect as the leather ages… a phenomenon that contrasts beautifully to the Apple Watch, which always looks cutting-edge. It’s a contrast that feels weirdly comforting, if you ask me. It gives the technology a facet that feels much more human, one of aging… while still remaining classically timeless, because leather and wristwatches are truly an inseparable pair!

Bellroy’s Apple Smartwatch Straps come in 5 colors – Black, Basalt, Cobalt, Racing Green, and Toffee, and ship worldwide with a 3-year warranty.

Innovative strap-system on the back of this airline seat makes it easy to store all your belongings

You could potentially spend anywhere from 3 to 20 hours on a single flight… which is why airline seats are designed to be less like furniture and more like a microliving space where you can either sleep, read, eat, or just admire the scenery from the window. The chairs recline, they come with dedicated fans, lights, a foldout table, and even a button to summon the flight staff, but they offer little when it comes to storing your regular belongings. Sure, there’s space right beneath the seat in front of you, but that isn’t always easy to access; and sure there’s a pouch near the foldout table, but it can barely store the security pamphlet, a magazine, and an air-sickness bag.

‘Strap’ is a system that relooks the way the back of the airline seat is laid out. Designed keeping that very microliving approach in mind, the back of the seat is transformed into a micro-closet using a web of elastic straps that criss-cross from top to bottom and left to right. These straps, which remain flat when not in use, are wonderful for tucking things into and latching things onto. You could potentially stash your bottle in them, dock your iPad in them, tuck your passport, boarding pass, book in the straps, and use them in a whole variety of ways to store things but allow them to be accessed easily. The Strap’s system is incredibly freeing, and offers you with the ability to use it exactly how you see fit. From storing your spectacles or neck-pillow, to even potentially using it to hang your headphones or your kid’s toy, the Strap system is quite literally limitless… and it doesn’t obstruct how the fold-out table works either!

Modillian is a Smart Strap For Your Non-Smart Watch

Modillian smart strap

Smart watches are all the rage these days. Despite the added functionality, some people are iffy because they’re not to keen on the design and prefer the look of their existing analog watches. Well, for those people, there’s always the Modillian Smart Strap. It works with most traditional mechanical watches but adds smart functionality since the features are built right into the strap.

The Modillian connects to your mobile device via Bluetooth and vibrates whenever you have an incoming call or receive a message. It’s pretty basic, but if basic is all you need, then this might be worth looking into.

The Modillian will launch on Indiegogo on June 10, 2014.

N-Product Deckster iPod nano Watch Strap Comes with an Eject Button

What I first thought to be a watch that mimicked a Nixie vacuum tube display is actually a strap to house your iPod nano 6G (and then just set the nano to its Nixie display mode). The Canadian-made N-Product Deckster looks quite distinctive and different from the other iPod nano watch straps that I’ve come across.

This is N-Product’s first watch design, and it’s made out of aircraft-grade aluminum. The casing features an eject function, that is reminiscent of an old cassette tape player. Unlike most nano watchbands, the Deckster allows you to easily remove the iPod nano without having to mess with hex screws other fasteners.

All nano functions are accessible through the casing, including the headphone jack and volume controls.

It’s available with either red or black leather bands. There’s also versions with a bike tire or innertube rubber band. While it looks great, the Deckster is not exactly cheap – with prices ranging from $150 to $165(USD). No iPod Nanos are included at this price.
