Husqvarna launches new Autonomous Lawnmower With Built-in GPS

For professional landscapers and property managers of sprawling green spaces, achieving that perfectly manicured lawn can be a constant battle. Traditionally, robotic mowers have relied on boundary wires to define their work area. This not only requires time-consuming installation but also presents a challenge during maintenance or landscaping projects. Husqvarna, a name synonymous with outdoor power equipment (and also motorcycles), is shaking things up with the Automower 520 EPOS, a revolutionary robot mower that ditches the wires in favor of a sophisticated GPS navigation system.

Designer: Husqvarna

Designed for tackling large areas of up to 5,000 square meters (roughly 1.2 acres), the Automower 520 EPOS boasts an impressive ability to handle slopes as steep as 45 degrees. This makes it ideal for managing expansive properties like parks, sports complexes, or corporate campuses. The key innovation lies in the EPOS system, which does away with the need for physical boundary wires. Instead, it utilizes a network of satellites and a reference station to create a virtual work zone. This not only saves time on installation but also eliminates the risk of accidentally damaging wires during other lawn maintenance tasks.

The mower seamlessly integrates with Husqvarna Fleet Services, a comprehensive app-based management system. Imagine the convenience of remotely controlling and monitoring your entire fleet of mowers from your smartphone or computer. The app allows for functionalities like simultaneous operation of multiple mowers, real-time location tracking, and even adjusting mowing schedules based on weather conditions. An alarm system deters potential theft, while automatic weather timers ensure the mower adapts its schedule to avoid rain or excessive heat, maximizing its efficiency and protecting the health of the lawn.

The mower employs a systematic mowing pattern, ensuring a consistently well-maintained lawn. The tiny grass clippings it leaves behind are finely mulched and returned to the soil, acting as a natural fertilizer. This eco-friendly approach not only eliminates the need for bagging and disposal of clippings but also contributes to a healthier, greener landscape. Furthermore, the mower boasts features like over-the-air software updates and a patented cutting height adjustment system, ensuring it stays at the forefront of lawn care technology.

While the initial cost of the Automower 520 EPOS might seem like a significant investment, the long-term benefits for professional lawn care providers are undeniable. Reduced labor costs due to automation, improved efficiency through remote management, and a consistently pristine lawn all contribute to a significant return on investment. The Automower 520 EPOS represents a glimpse into the future of lawn maintenance, a future where robotic mowers operate with precision and autonomy, guided by the power of GPS technology. This innovative solution not only frees up valuable time and resources but also paves the way for a more sustainable approach to maintaining sprawling green spaces.

This firefly-inspired Husqvarna bike balances the comfort of car with the thrill of biking!

Imagining how the dimension of mobility will evolve in the next few years, Haochen gives his imagination wings in the shape of this firefly-inspired Husqvarna Devil S Concept bike.

More often than not, motorbikes are tagged as unsafe since they expose the rider’s body to high-speed dangers in case of an accident. Two-wheelers typically have a very open stance that attracts the young generation and adds to the adrenaline rush. More than anything, the ride should be stylish and match the fashion statement of the young crowd. This inspired Haochen (Wenson) Wei to design a motorbike with a very stylish character and a safe design that’s radically different from what bikes are perceived to be.

The rider sits inside the Husqvarna branded bike as one would typically do in a car, and the doors open to resemble the shape of a firefly. These classy doors, in a way, hug the rider in a safety cocoon which is reassuring at high speeds. While doing this, the bike maintains its edgy looks – perfect for a futuristic ride that young people will find irresistible.

Interiors of the Devil S Concept complement the rider’s needs with all the telemetry and vital information displayed on the side panels on the front. The designer wants this bike of the future to be an equally good city street rider as it is out there in the open patches of the outback. A two-wheeler like this one is destined to be a head-turner – just the right recipe for the youth who want their wheels to be fast and furious.

The side profile of the Devil S is truly devilish with a very balanced aesthetic charm. The rider sits very low as the seating position is secured by the lightweight yet reinforced body of the bike. I hope there are airbags, too, as there is ample scope for that in the enclosed interior. Would a hardcore bike racer fancy this bike? Maybe not, but hey, every new thing has to live with some resistance until it becomes a trend!

Husqvarna enters the electric scooter category with the heavy-bodied Vektorr concept

Building on its vision to reinvent urban mobility by ushering it into an emission-free future, Husqvarna just launched the Vektorr, an electric scooter concept with an almost BMW Motorrad Concept Link-inspired heavy-body design that projects confidence and dominance on the road.

The launch of the Vektorr comes just days after Husqvarna announced the E-Pilen electric motorcycle, and one can even notice a homogeneity in their design language. The Vektorr embodies Husqvarna’s agile, edgy design aesthetic while still judiciously using tight curves to create an automobile that looks sinewy and muscular. The e-scooter relies on a familiar silver, black, and lemon yellow paint-job as seen in the E-Pilen, and has the iconic circular headlight that’s signature to the Husqvarna brand.

The electric scooter comes outfitted with a 4kW motor that gives it a top speed of 45 km/h and a claimed range of 95 km. Designed keeping the urban traveler in mind, Husqvarna said, “The Vektorr Concept is the first electric scooter ever produced by Husqvarna Motorcycles and is aimed squarely at the urban commuter who demands a compact, stylish and effective personal transport solution to fit their busy lifestyle.”

Husqvarna is expected to begin production of the Vektorr in 2022. Customers can get an exclusive glimpse of the Husqvarna Vektorr Concept at the PIERER Mobility AG special exhibition in the KTM Motohall in Mattighofen, Austria. Partially owned by India-based Bajaj Auto through its 48% acquisition of KTM, the Vektorr will be manufactured at Bajaj’s factory, as part of the Bajaj-Pierer Mobility plan.

Husqvarna’s first electric motorcycle is the EE 5 mini dirt bike

Husqvarna may be a familiar name in the motorcycle world, but it hasn't done much to embrace electric motorcycles. It will soon, though -- it's launching its first e-motorbike in the form of the EE 5. The machine is ultimately a classic mini dirt b...

Designer Xintao Chen’s goal in designing the Husqvarna Halo was to create something fit for a superhero! The result? A lean, mean, eMoto machine! However far-out the original design prompt, this ultimate e-bike maintains a realistic material combination of metal and carbon fiber and a familiar naked-style aesthetic. In fact, it’s not a far leap from the 47 Ronin. Though, we much prefer the rims on this one!
